Pandamonium has light airy doughnuts with both traditional and refreshing flavors. All the glaze flavors are rather light (maybe sometimes a little too light), and not too sweet. The mimosa doughnut (New Year's special) had a great unique citrusy flavor with a hint of champagne. It was also filled nicely. The peppermint chocolate (December special) is a cake doughnut, which has a stronger chocolate flavor from the batter (and a great peppermint topping) which I preferred slightly to the chocolate crumble. My husband visited Pandamonium early on a Saturday morning (neither of us had ever been). He ordered 4 different flavors ranging in price from $2.75-$3.25. He was impressed by the interior of the store and the staff were great. I dove into the donuts when I got home from work. He even picked me up an Original Glazed. Yay! The Chocolate Crumble was my favorite. These donuts taste very good, are unique, but pricey and obviously not great for your waistline when eaten regularly. :-P The donuts are large and super fresh. Was really excited to try this place, have heard nothing but good things. I was disappointed though, both by the experience and the actual donuts. Began to order and was told that the lemon poppyseed donut was unavailable and that even though I could see one in front of me, it was "reserved" for another customer. Didn't make much sense that a reserved donut would be on display. Ordered three other donuts and waited for them. While I was waiting, the workers were running around talking about how they were out of certain donuts and told a customer who had already ordered a mocha donut that they actually were out of them. How could they have let someone order the donut if they didn't actually have one for that person?? Didn't make much sense to me. The customer looked upset and I understood why. Very disorganized service and seemed inconsistent. Not sure how they can have bad service like this and still expect people to pay $3 per donut, ridiculous. Beyond that, I was at least hoping that the donuts would be beyond my wildest dreams. No such luck though, they tasted like any other donut I've ever had, if not worse. They lacked flavor, and again, if I'm paying $3 a donut, I expect quality donuts. I've from northern illinois and where I live, you can get a dozen donuts for $7, and they're that much better. I'm not a donut fan, but this place will make me go out for donuts. Their rainbow sprinkle flavor is AMAZING. It's subtly sweet but not over the top if you're a cake flavor and sprinkle lover. Their matcha latte is also pretty legit, surprisingly much better than some franchise coffee shops in the area. Since they open early, they close pretty early too. For everyone who complains about them running out of donuts before closing, understand that this is how places like this works. It's difficult to estimate how much they need for the day, and it takes time and effort to make these donuts FRESH. If you want to guarantee yourself donuts, get there earlier or else don't get mad if your choice of donut is out of stock. As for the donuts themselves, all I can say is wow. The dough is fluffy and perfectly made. I tried the lavender honey, which had an interesting taste. I think it's one of those where you either like it or you don't- I liked it. I also ordered the chocolate sprinkles, matcha green tea, and blueberry lemon- all delicious in it's own ways. Donuts do run a bit more pricey here (~$2.50) however, the quality is worth the extra dollar that would have been spent on a regular donut from other stores. These donuts aren't really meant for those free-donuts-in-the-break-room-at-the-office, unless you're just that nice. However, these are great for more of a celebratory event. read more

New to the neighborhood, so I thought I'd check out the local donut shop! I love the logo and the atmosphere inside. It's very very cold inside and as far as I could tell, there wasn't guest WiFi. They had a limited donut selection - about 6 different donuts to choose from, but from what I understand that selection changes daily. I came in at noon on a Sunday and there was nobody inside! I thought it would be much busier. The worker was very friendly and welcoming. The price of the donuts was steep! Every donut ranges from $2.75-3.00+! That's super expensive for one donut. I got two donuts and two iced coffees. The iced coffees were over $3 as well. So far, not impressed. Hopefully it all tastes good! I got the raspberry almond donut and the sprinkled donut. The raspberry almond was very raspberry-y, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it did not cover up the awful taste of the donut. These donuts taste like what a fast food worker would smell like after a long shift. The sprinkled donut tasted like a pile of sugar - at least it didn't taste like grease! As for the iced coffee -- blech!! No matter how much cream and sugar you put into it, it will never taste good. Bitter, burnt, like fresh tar. This is my favorite (and most frequented) food establishment in Champaign. They have incredible doughnuts with a plethora of flavors, and their yeast-style are the best I've ever had (which is saying something, as I'm quite the doughnut connoisseur!). Don't skip out on this place- you can also find their food truck either on campus, at the Urbana Farmer's Market (Saturdays from May to October), or in downtown Champaign. They sell out pretty quickly during the school year, but it is well worth waking up a little earlier to be able to start your day with these wonderful, deliciously soft pillows of happiness. They also serve up some great espresso drinks using House-made strips and Counter Culture coffee; I always get an Americano as they use Counter Culture's Hologram which pairs excellently with their tasty treats. Moral of the story: make the stop, go to Pandamonium- you won't be sorry! I love this place, and have been going to it since they were only a food truck. While they do have the food truck still they also have a store front(which lucky for me is right by my house). They always have super interesting combos and I've yet to try one I dont like. My only warning with this place is that it is on the more expensive side. I think I paid upwards of 30ish dollars for a dozen once. THAT BEING SAID, you really are paying for some quality donuts. These aren't gas station donuts these are gourmet donuts so you pay for what you get in my opinion so I don't mind paying the extra money when I go. I also wish they had more donuts closer to 12-1 sometimes I go in on my lunch break or cant get there until mid-day and they're pretty picked over by then which can be disappointing. read more

I only come to this place because my 3 year old loves the cinnamon sugar donut. We only come as a special treat to him because $2.25 for a donut that honestly isn't that great... no thanks. I've tried the other donuts when I've gone in, but the only one I liked was the Girl Scout flavor ones, but they were $2.75 each and not worth it. The other thing that I think is ridiculous is that they run out of donuts. Like completely sell out 2.5 hours before closing time. For being in an actual store front with certain hours, this is just not acceptable. Thank goodness they had 2 of the cinnamon sugar donuts left so my son could have one, but stinks for all the people that came in after us. I understand running out when you have a food truck... totally get that. But I get he vibe that they don't want to make more because they may not sell... but that's the chance you take! And for over $2 a donut... I think they can manage. Honestly, save your money. I only gave this 2 stars because the Girl Scout donut was good and the cinnamon sugar is ok. Have had this spot on the list for a few weeks. Finally checked it out over the weekend. The girl working the truck was very kind & helpful when answering all my questions about what's best to order. Ordered four donuts & a small pour over for about $12. $3 for coffee which was very good & strong too I might add. Around $9 for four excellent donuts. I got the glazed, very good size, ate it throughout the day because it was a lot to eat in one sitting. Wife got the Nutella banana donut which she thought was good but not great. Very good service. Some of the best doughnuts in the CU area if you're willing to play around with the flavors each time- my personal favorites are the blueberry lemon and Siagon cinnamon sugar. The most recent time I went I got an iced latte and it was pretty bad... it had clumpy chunks that tasted like powdered milk and had an embarrassingly small amount of espresso. BLUEBERRY CAKE DONUT. That's all you really need to know, but I'll keep going. Their cake donuts are amazing, I obviously favor the blueberry, but the yeast donuts are not what you'd typically expect. They're good, just not your typical old fashioned glazed yeast donut. They don't have traditional options like a tiger tail, glazed donut, or long John - but their creations are pretty impressive. My only qualm is that they are usually very, very sweet - but honestly I could eat the blueberry cake donut every single day and not get tired of it, so I really can't complain too much.
