It seemed to me to be a very typical store selling very typical items. I give them more of a 2.5 rating because although the store does contain nice items, it's not one of my 'go to' places.

A ceramic tea pot cost $29 without a filter, 20 ginger teas for $ 10 and small plant pot for $ 22. I'll come back here and buy a boxed items with stories behind it. Everything was great until I went to the register to check out. I paid for my items once, received confirmation from my bank via text at 8:51pm. The cashier insisted that the store didn't receive the transaction and to charge my card again. He retrieved what appeared to be the Supervisor, who insisted again to charge my card and that the text from the bank wasn't sufficient evidence of me paying. Against my better judgement while have my child begging for these items, I did indeed charge my card again. Especially after being assured if I emailed the Manager, it will all be sorted out. I charged again at 8:59. Ultimately the store received my money twice. I was refunded the next day, after emailing the Manager to sort everything out. I was pleasantly surprised at how this was resolved. The only thing I will say is that the workers and the women from accounting who called me all said, this happens often. Here's a tip, get the POS system looked at so another customer doesn't have to experience this.

There is also extremely loud music. Background music should be in the background and not so loud that you can't possibly block it out. Yes, I am an older person but when I was in there I noticed a lot of customers in my demographic. You can rest assured that most of us are not enjoying the volume.

They carried almost all of the merchandise I was looking for for my (hard-to-find gifts for) daughter. Staff (or owner) were friendly and helpful. It can get busy (and crowded) inside so be mindful and tread lightly. There are enough items on the front porch to browse through that it took me at least 20 mins to check them out even before entering the store, which took me even longer inside. Just so much to see. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a all about the shopping, history and lake time (it's named for a reason!); and as far as shopping goes, Irish Design should be one of your stops. Beautiful store chalk full of Irish (no surprise there!) products, many made from beautiful Merino wool: socks, hats, blankets and the most beautiful, thick sweaters you've ever seen. Also, a large assortment of scarves, jewelry and all your Irish needs. Whether you're looking for a present for yourself or someone else, if you're willing to open your pocket book VERY wide, this might be just the stop for you. Like most of the stores directly on Queen Street (the main drag in Niagara-on-the-Lake), Irish Design has its prices set high. Although, they DO have a "sale" section and remember, everything is listed in Canadian dollars. They accept credit, cash and US currency and have a lovely tea room, which I did not visit, in the back of the store (bathrooms only available for tea room patrons, no public store washroom!) Irish Design is also located near the [shopping] end of Queen Street, right before the residential strip, couple shops over from King George Theater. Great hours, opening at 9:30am during the weekday. Overall, a cozy shop and unique enough that it should be on your list of places to visit.

Lessard Coutu is now the only jeweler I'll deal with. The first picture is the beautiful white gold…read morering I purchased in January while on an island. After having is sized at another local jeweler, the white gold ring became yellow gold. A month later, one of the diamonds fell out. After checking out a few reputable jewelers, I decided Lessard Coutu would be the ones to replace the diamond and repair the ring. Marianne took her time going through all the options and explained why the ring had been faulty and what needed to be done in order for the ring to be worn with confidence. She, Moe and all their staff were a delight to work with. They are patient, knowledgeable and skilled artisans. I've already taken some other pieces to them for repair and will most definitely go to them for all my future jewellery purchases. They have such a great eye for design, that I'm seriously considering taking some older pieces to them to be remade into something more contemporary that my grandkids would love to wear. If I could give more stars, I would!!!

I am extremely particular and Mo was super patient as we went through all of the options and he laid out all of the information in a clear and simple way to help us make this important decision. His expertise shined through in our meeting and really helped guide us to the perfect ring. Although my minimalist style isn't necessarily on brand for Lessard Coutu, Mo was able to help make my dream ring a reality! I couldn't be happier with the final product and it exceeded all of my expectations! I love my ring and can't wait to get the matching wedding band!
