If you are someone who loves tabletop gaming, reading, or sci-fi/horror/fantasy, you owe it to yourself to visit this awesome location! My husband and I visited in 2023, while in the area for Halloween and loved it so much! This shop is huge and has an incredible selection. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, and we felt comfortable taking our time to peruse. Ended up coming home with some new books, and lots of gaming inspo!

I came to this establishment because I'm very new to Magic and wanted to start building my deck. This location was close to where I live and saw that it had lots of cards and many Magic events. The folks here were very welcoming and encouraging. I had a lot of questions and they took their time to help answer them for me and navigate all the intricacies of Magic. It made me even more excited to get into the game and learn more! The value is okay, but it's my first time dabbling in magic so I don't have much of a base to compare to.

I historically went to this game store to play Magic: the Gathering, but they have evolved into a mecca of modern board games. Their selection of board games for purchase is awesome! I seemed to want a game on every shelf (and there were oh so many board game shelves!) but I narrowed it down to a few new games. The RPG product line was fabulous, I picked up a box of Druid D&D spell cards. And they have a used book section! The shop is at street level and downstairs. The organized play area downstairs is well lit and had a lively atmosphere. The shop was very busy and as a board game publisher I was thrilled to see this. They had two bathrooms and they have a parking lot! I didn't see any food so you might want to eat before heading here. Helpful Tip for Drivers: They have a parking lot and it fills quickly, but on Sunday the street meter parking spots are free. If you find my reviews helpful, please let me know thanks!

Nice store, big collection. Lots of games and staff was helpful. We'll visit again next time we're in the area.

The smell has been fixed. Their selection is great, with a good amount of play space, and they're friendly.

Ask the Community - Pandemonium Books & Games

Do people do trades here with cards? Yugioh specifically?

Yes, people trade cards here. I'm a non-YGH player, but I've been there on YGH nights and seen plenty of YGH players trading cards, in addition to playing events / casual games. I'd recommend going when there's a YGH event; check the store's event… Read more

Downstairs, a lot of great used books, at great prices. Wonderful selection, pretty cool special events, and a great staff. Highest of recommendations. No negatives whatsoever.

We walked past the large windows and stacked displays visible from the street, and they invited us in before we had made any decision to enter. Once inside, the floor to ceiling shelves and the density of the selection created an atmosphere that is difficult to rush through even when we came in with a specific title in mind. The main floor covers new releases, staff picks, and a broad selection organized by subject across fiction, nonfiction, and a range of specialized categories. The curation reflects the surrounding community in the best way, with titles that reward browsing beyond the obvious bestseller tables. Staff are knowledgeable and genuinely helpful when you want a recommendation or need to locate something specific, and the information desk handles navigation questions efficiently without making you feel like you are interrupting. The basement is where the store distinguishes itself most clearly from a standard bookshop. The used and remaindered book sections downstairs cover an enormous range at a fraction of the cover price, and the quality of the used stock tends to be high. Spending time down there is one of the more rewarding ways to move through the store, and we came up with something we were not looking for when we went down. The remaindered section in particular offers discounted new copies of titles that did not move at full price, and the selection rotates enough that regular visits continue to surface new things. For an independent bookstore that delivers on depth, curation, and genuine value in the basement, Harvard Book Store is a Cambridge institution worth returning to again and again. It is the kind of place where you go in for one book and leave with a stack, and that is exactly how a good bookstore should feel.

It is pretty big and they have a lot of books, but it was crowded, making harder to browse and navigate. As far as the selection goes, it wasn't our cup of tea. Which is OK. Schedule - every day 12-7 pm , Fridays and Saturdays stays open till 8 pm which is great! You are left alone to look at books, staff here doesn't come around to bother you which is a major plus! Prices are a tad high for a used bookstore. It's worth checking it of you're in the area and you're a fellow bookworm! It has a charming, cozy feel to it.

Was about 6$ for 30 mins or 14$ for 1 hr... needless to say we spent a little more than 30 minutes browsing at the book store. They have a few very old books located next to the checkout point. Books on many hobbies and world religions as well as classics. They do have groups of reference books and thesaurus's (and while they may have been there... I noticed partial sets and only maybe 1-2 complete sets). Books are reasonably priced -- between 94 cents and 30$+. Store was pretty busy when we stopped by but that's exactly what I'd like with a used bookstore. They do accept donations and I surmise that the inventory turns over rather quickly.
