My hubby and I enjoy stopping here occasionally as we pass through Belleville. They offer tasty food and healthier choices, not only breads and sweets. Their sweets are very tempting, though. This is a café style restaurant, where you go up to the counter to order your food and drink, and they prepare it in the kitchen then someone brings it out to you (so it's not your typical table waiter / waitress style restaurant). This outlet is good because the service has been good, the food is consistently good, and the restaurant is fairly big and bright - so much better than being cramped into a spot, cheek by jowl with other diners! First time at a Panera, after hearing about it it's popularity in the US for a while now, figured I should try it out for lunch today. Good selection for meal options; soups, sandwiches, flatbreads, mac and cheese, as well as salads. Better quality fast food. I got the "pick 2" option for more variety. Went for the broccoli cheddar cheese soup with the chipotle chicken avocado sandwich. I was happy with my choice as it tasted delicious. The variety of iced teas was amazing, and super tasty. I didn't stay for dessert, however they had some very delicious looking sweets tempting me for a second visit. read more

I just got back from the grand opening event! The staff was friendly and courteous, but a couple cashiers got tripped up once or twice while taking orders. That's no fault of theirs really, the crowd that had amassed was quite large, (coaxed out for the free mug and coffee) and I can imagine was quite intimidating for the brand new employees. Despite everything the service moved very quickly and the experience was quite smooth. What really grabbed me was the immaculate scents coming from the back bakery - they hit you as soon as you walk in the door and it's enough to make you swoon. If that doesn't do it for you, then keep walking and take a look at the display counters. They're filled to the brim with pastries, cookies, buns, and scones.. All laid out, just begging to be sampled. Its difficult to choose! (I settled on an asiago cheese bagel... So. Good.) All in all, I was very happy with my experience here. And considering how well everyone held up to the masses, I believe Panera Bread will be a solid business in Belleville for quite a while. I will definitely be back! read more

Fantastic customer service. This was our first time so the cashier was clear and friendly describing vegetarian options. I ordered squash soup with half of a Mediterranean vegetable sandwich. My mom ordered mac n cheese and broccoli cheese soup. The mac n cheese wasn't very hot so they immediately replaced it and gave us a complimentary cookie. The environment is clean and contemporary. Okay I went back because I had a craving for a bagel with cream cheese and a dark roast coffee. I was standing there with money in hand, ready to pay their exorbitant prices. They close at 9pm and I arrived at 8:15. You guessed it - 45 minutes to go. The bagel shelves were nearly empty, nothing interesting there. There were only a few pastries left, none of which appealed to me. I decided to go with coffee only. I turned the spout on the dark roast. No dark roast. I turned the spout on the decaf. No decaf. I could go on and on. Can they not take the machines away when they are empty so customers don't struggle with spiggots and get disappointed? Lots of flavoured coffee but I don't like flavoured coffee. On to the other coffee, I forget what kind it was. Got some, though I could see that was nearly empty, just a partial cup left. Never mind, I like a lot of milk in my coffee. Oops, no milk? No 1% or 2%. Containers just sitting empty, lurking there to disappoint me. Skim milk? I held my breath and started to pour. Yes, there was a little. The person behind me got none, and I didn't care. At least I didn't have to go back to the counter. Panera staff, please wake up. You are all sugary nice, and I understand that you don't want a lot of leftover product. However, here's what I think: ANY CUSTOMER SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO INTO A PANERA STORE AT 5 MINUTES TO CLOSING AND GET A GOOD SELECTION OF BAGELS, PASTRIES, AND A CUP OF COFFEE. I personally love Panera. I heard about it a lot in the US but had never been. Now I'm lucky enough for my city to have one! Panera Bread is a great place to eat. It's hybrid of fast food and fine dining. You order at the front like a fast food restaurant, then you can get your food to go or you can dine in. When you dine in you get a table tracker so they can bring your food to you, and the service is quite fast (like a fast food restaurant) and comes in real dishes to your table (like a dine in restaurant). The price is a little more expensive than a fast food restaurant, but not as much a usual dine-in restaurant. For any of the meals I get the cost is usually $15 (I order a large lemonade, which is an extra $3.14). The staff are always great, and offer you a variety of options for a side: french baguette, soft dinner roll, bag of chips, or an apple. read more

This location used to be amazing and everyone seemed to like their job. As of lately there's been new people working there and service has gone right down hill. For example: drive thru service today I didn't even get a "hello" back after I greeted the guy working at the window, he said one word to me throughout the entire transaction. However it's a serve yourself eat in reataurent and a sandwich, drink and small bowl of soup came to around $24 including taxes. That's more than most lunches at a restaurant where you are served including the tip. I occasionally eat a meal at your store with my family and have been overal pleased with the quality of food. Today's was a Turkey bacon sandwich, it was a good sandwich but the bacon was something left to the imagination. It appears the bacon had come from Pigglet from Winnie the Pooh. It looked good and was cooked perfectly. The three pieces of miniature bacon amounted to 3cm in length and 1cm width. Could I taste it on my sandwich? Sadly the answer is no but I'm curious as to the pig that yielded this mysterious bacon. read more

HORRID CUSTOMER SERVICE, WILL NOT RETURN. Went to Panera today and have been before and have a reward card. As I walked in, I was in a hurry and there were 2 people standing at the cash. I asked, "Which one?" referring to which person to go to. The older woman who I think may have been the manager just threw her head to the side indicating I should go to the other cashier. The other cashier, "Kayla" was polite and I had no problem with her. However I was going to order buns and a pastry as I was given a free pastry when I entered my user card into the computer system. I asked Kayla if I had a free pastry on my card. She swiped the card several times and said no. The other woman said that there is a 2 month expiration date on their promotions or rewards on their cards. This older woman was cold, impersonal and abrupt. CUSTOMER SERVICE at it's worst. How can you give someone something and take it away? I told them that this was very sh&(* and I would not be returning. I took the little Panera tag off my key chain and have thrown it out. I WILL NOT BE BACK. I don't care how good or healthy your food is, you can't treat people like this!!!!!! Not too happy with the treatment I received when I walked in. I am standing there(apparently invisible) and one woman is training a girl at a different til but I am waiting for them patiently. Then sudden two women walk in and they are friends of the woman trainer and she leaps to help them and there I am standing...apparently invisible. When she sees me she says we will get to you in minute...I say oh I thought I was invisible, she says I am training this girl...I was not a happy camper.
