Ordered just a large drink. Not only did I have to wait until they were all caught up on food, even orders placed after me, when I was the only one standing there they had no idea what I was waiting for or what I had ordered. When I asked if they don't put cups on the counter for drink orders the manager got snippy and said they aren't allowed to do that. So you can put food up, but not drinks/cups. Ok, whatever. So then I asked if I had to ask for my cup in the future and she again was snippy and said no that they would ask. We come here a lot, mostly for breakfast. I'm part of the sip club (pay monthly but free coffee, tea or soda) which pays for itself quickly. The food is tasty. Chicken and wild rice soup is one of my favorites. The people who work here are friendly. They make mistakes occasionally like every food place does but are always willing to fix them. Got here around 8:15pm. Went through the drive through and had to repeat myself for 2 hot lattes over 3 times, then told to wait. I waited for about 7 mins. Then was told to move forward to the window where I waited for another 15 mins just to get 2 cold drinks brought to me. I told them I ordered 2 hot drinks. So after waiting another 8 mins I went inside only to see workers talking to each other and not acknowledging me at all. After I called out for assistance; the young lady told me someone else will be out. No one showed. So after 4 mins of waiting she went and got the manager. I asked for a refund and was given it. I have been coming to this Panera Bread for at least 4 years. They have made a lot of my food orders incorrect. I mostly don't see the mistakes until Im home for the day. I said something, finally, about 6 months ago to an asst. manager. They fixed my order, and I left. The next time I ordered on the app, that asst. manager was behind the food counter and now knew my name. THE NEXT 4+ ORDERS WAS AN EXTRA 20 MINUTES EACH TIME. So I go to Panera Bread (AKA St. Louis Bread Company) in Fairview Heights, IL to grab a quick sandwich for lunch to take home. I've never, ever been to one before. I see their Spicy Take Chicken sandwich advertised on TV. It looks huge and delicious on TV and here on their ad. So I ordered it. Almost $13 dollars later I get home with the sandwich and a small bag of their chips (no drink!). The sandwich was nowhere near the size they advertise - in actuality, it's about the size of a McDonald's hamburger. I kid you not. Deceptive advertising? Fool me once, shame on you. Not a good experience this morning at Panera. The manager Jennifer share that the Garden Avo Toast is no longer an option. I asked why and her response was "There's no rhyme or reason ". On a crazy Saturday during the holidays, I decided to drive thru Bread Co in Fairview Heights for a lunch order. The drive thru is located behind a stripmall of shops,precariously nestled between a bank parking lot and a larger strip mall parking lot. Getting in and out is sort of a maze My favorite sandwich, ham and swiss, was recently removed from the menu. So I took a chance on one of their new flatbread pizzas. The cashier was kind enough to inform me I had a free pastry and $2 off a salad. What a pleasant surprise!! Yes, please--I took advantage of both. She handed me my order in a huge bag that had been taped shut and labeled that it was double checked for accuracy. Imagine my dismay to get home, open the bag and no frickin flatbread pizza in the bag!! Seriously?!! I attempted to call the store twice- first, I got disconnected and finally on the second try, I spoke to another associate. I requested that my order be delivered to my residence. The associate told me that all their drivers were out and that once they returned, they'd get that order to me. My order arrived about 15 minutes later. The flatbread doesn't taste too bad. I purchased a Greek salad at 12noon and put it in the fridge about 10 minutes later. I just went to crack it open about 6.5 hours later and half of the lettuce is rusty and slimy. ‍. Super disappointed. I also had to wait an extra 10 minutes past the pickup time. I know they will give me something free if I call and complain. As someone who worked in an Office next door to a Panera Bread (STL Bread Co) I've ate at that as well as other locations literally dozens of times. No one will ever mistake the menu items (entree or desert or bread) with an independent spot that really takes pride in what they "create" serve. (Sadly Panera is pretty much synonymous with "pre fab") It's also no secret that rave reviews I write are reserved almost exclusively for those independents that genuinely care and put the work into creating and serving stunning menu items. Today a family member asked if I would like to have lunch at the Panera in Fairview Heights IL as they had a gift card. (Reluctantly I said yes) New Menu Items! A Spicy Chicken Sandwich (They dubbed "The Spicy Take") Thai Soup and a Thai Salad were noted We both had the Thai Soup once again Our Palate was greeted with bland mush commodity soup straight out of a bag. (Want Thai Soup, Id highly suggest the Real Thai Restaurant across the street (Tong Phoon) which I've reviewed... its it odd how they manage to serve Amazing Thai Soup and Panera can't seem to figure it out?) Her Thai Salad... Lettuce/Edamame with a decent Peanut Ginger Dressing And finally the worst of it: "The Spicy Take" a sad attempt at a spicy chicken sandwich Think Prefab/Grilled Chicken with mystery cheese slathered with a bit of franks red hot (straight out of the bottle) on (get this) COLD BREAD?!?!? I asked why the bread was cold and if I could get it heated.. to which who I assume was a restaurant manager responded that "The bread is cold because this is designed to be a warm sandwich not a hot sandwich" My response was that is an odd concept and the other kitchen staff member agreed with me! Thankfully they threw it back in the toaster oven they appear to make everything in and it was still one of the worst attempts at a Spicy Chicken Sandwich I've ever had! I have a Panera Bread near where I live in GA. While passing through, I got off the exit where this one was located and decided to try (St. Louis Bread Company). I rarely write mediocre reviews on here. They usually are raving ones. When I ordered, I requested a large water and was handed a water cup. I explained that I was on a road trip and really needed a large cup. She explained the largest she could give me was a medium as they really don't like to give away a large cup. Meanwhile, they have tons of cups at the self order / pay kiosks. I ordered a bagel and two croissants (road snacks). She sliced the bagel - half way through. Then I took a croissant out. I come here to study a lot. Staff is nice, the managers are great. Sip club is worth it if you study or work a lot in the building. I wiiiiishh sooo bad this location would add more outlets though. The manager told me before they remodeled they would put outlets in the booths next to the fire place. They weren't put in and they've been done with the renovation for awhile now. My food is always correct and timely though. I've ordered here over a 100 times and I've never had an issue with the food. This location is trash. They rarely ever have the drive thru available. When the drive thru is available you're waiting for a ridiculous amount of time. And when I say ridiculous to the point I promise you're gonna drive off. The rapid pick up isn't rapid at all. I waited 36 mins for a rapid pick up order, which sucks that the app doesn't inform you how long the wait time would be until AFTER you buy. Otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it as I was on my lunch and on a time crunch. I wish I had a picture of the balled up grilled cheese sandwich I was given. Horrible presentation. I'm generally not a Panera fan. I never like what I order except for the Turkey Chili which is seasonal. The menu is very bread centric and all of the salads taste very similar because they have the same lettuce and the same sliced chicken. I was advised by a friend to try Thai Garden Chicken Wonton Bowl (Ginger-chicken wontons, fresh broccoli, spinach, napa cabbage blend, roasted mushroom and onion blend and low-fat Thai chili vinaigrette with cilantro and sesame seeds in our hen broth.) I did so on Tuesday for lunch and it still didn't convert me. I thought the broth was super salty and all the components had little flavor other than the salty broth. It's been awhile since I've been to panera but I've been here a few times within the past week. I have to rave about how awesome their customer service is in store. The drive thru is average but inside the bakery...I was really shocked on how I was treated. I felt like I was in chick fil a for a second. LOL! Anyways, I'm not the one to complain but I had an issue with my order the night before and called (after asking a few people if I should complain or not). The manager just told me to come back and they would fix it. There was a temporary supervisor that was super friendly which was great! Something I wasn't expecting! She had to get the actual manger for the store to come and talk to me. Things were solved and I left happy! Now I hope they keep up their friendly customer service! This is my first time visiting this particular location for lunch, but the service was pretty speedy and the staff was nice. I tried ordering the green tea, but they didn't have all the ingredients to prepare it i guess because they ran out. They also ran out of all the cream cheeses besides the sour cream kind. Besides the fact that they need to do a better job of staying stocked, it's a nice mellow place and even has a fire place. My pasta is delicious btw. read more

So, I enjoy Panera bread for breakfast and lunch. Tonight I really didn't feel like cooking but didn't want anything too heavy like fried chicken or gyros so Panera it is I try to always order ahead, so my order will be waiting for me at the Rapid pick up area. Tonight we order salad and soup. Not just any soup by Broccoli cheddar soup. It's creamy deliciousness is all you really need to fill up on a cool rainy night. Well... Got a little message on my receipt that says "come see us, no soup :-(". Now, it's kinda late so I understand but my son is a picky eater and it's for him. She asked if we wanted another soup? Uumm... No! Manager came out and took my receipt, brought back out another receipt... Order cancelled. And then asked if I wanted something else? I wasn't expecting not to pay. I would've been fine with the credit because I always come to Panera. Called my son and he said any turkey or ham sandwich (very simple but picky eater). So we're all happy. I got my light salad, he got a 2 sandwiches (not sure if that's Normal). The cashier and manager were both nice. The restaurant is normally clean, the employees are always helpful, the food is always fresh and good and there's free wifi.
