I've been to this particular Panera on numerous occasions to take advantage of their coffee subscription promo and have found it to be consistently good, and have been similarly impressed with their food quality as well. The service is a little hit or miss, though. Ohio Valley Mall itself is a bit of a challenge to navigate, not sure why they laid it out the way they did. My recommendation: if you are entering from the entrance closest to the onramp for I-70E, take a right right before the restaurant and you will find a few parking spaces incredibly close to the entrance, and they are almost always empty. The fuji apple chicken salad is quite good, as is the steak and cheese. The real scene-stealer is the mac and cheese, and you really can't go wrong with any of the choices for it. Their iced coffee is quite good, though they are pretty inconsistent with how often they follow the instructions you put on the tablet, and sometimes they add the cream/sugar themselves and others they ask you to do it. This seems like a training issue they might want to address at some point. Both service and cleanliness are good, though nothing award-winning on either end of that. They seem to be in a constant state of training new staff, guess their employee retention could use some work. All things considered, Panera is a healthier alternative for a fast casual meal, and I'm glad to have it around. Overall: 4.0 stars ---- Pros: - Good value for both food and drinks. - Delicious menu items. - Lots of parking, best to use the side parking if you can. If I could give it 0 I would. As you must already know I am on the D.C trip and as we are on are way home and famished we really relied on the comfort and consistency of Panera. As we have had astonishing experiences in the past, we were expecting nothing but the best. However as we all anticipated it was very busy, but as I have been there frequently it never seemed to be a problem. The kiosk me and my friend used never asked us for are names, and there was frequent pop ups of tipping pleads and places were you could sign up for the app. So when we payed it never could identify us. I took around 30 minutes to get me and my friends food which left us with 5 minutes to eat considering are buses departure time, and my other friends got there food and hour later leaving them too eat on the bus. It was extremely unorganized as many people who ordered 15-20 minutes later than us got their food faster than us. Also my smoothie got token 2x and I kept having to get it remade. The workers continued to yell at us kids whenever we asked about are food and reminding them are departure time. My food was very good, however my friend's chicken was undercooked and the soup came scorching hot. These workers were faced with a difficult challenge however it could have been handled more respectively. read more

I asked Elizabeth at the front counter for a to-go container and she gave me the most questionable confused look I've ever been given. I then had to explain that I had already ordered food and that I simply needed a box and bag to package my food and her response was that of someone being asked to sacrifice their first born. After replying "I'm confused" and showing me a box that would fit over a dozen pastries I had to explicitly tell them to just give me what they'd give someone who ordered a bagel. I don't know why this place got bad reviews. My wife and I both ordered salads and she also got a Baja bowl. We are salad aficionados and this fare was top notch. Ordered his sandwich without, was slathered in it. Couldn't eat. My steak sandwich was missing ever condiment. They were too busy worrying about who was on break and who was supposed to be on break. Time to add yet another Panera review under my belt. I ate here while traveling with my mother to a family reunion of sorts. We actually ended up eating here because we were very hungry and we couldn't find any other reasonable, sit-down type restaurants that didn't have a super long wait. So we figured, Hey - it's hard to go wrong with Panera! When we came in the place was pretty empty, so it was nice and quiet and gave us a great break from our drive. Fortunately the emptiness wasn't a signal of some serious problem with the food or employees - I guess most people had somewhere better to eat on a Saturday night, hence the long waits everywhere else. We ordered quickly, got our food quickly and then enjoyed our meal in peace. My mother got their steak & white cheddar panini with their Squash Soup, while I went for my go-to: the Mediterranean veggie and chicken noodle soup. We were both very happy with what we got. I knew from experience that my go-to meal offered the best balance of healthy, nutritious and delicious possible; I will forever love that veggie sandwich! But after sampling a bite of my mother's combo I'd definitely order that, too. Steak and cheddar was as yummy as I expected, but seeing as I'm not a die-hard squash person the squash soup was the surprise of the meal - it was super tasty, moreso than I thought it would be. So, last week I come here before work. They mess up my order. It's fine, it happens and I've been on the receiving end of some pretty brutal customer complaints. Well, I come inside and give my messed up sandwich to the girl at the counter, Majestic. Well, Majestic wasn't having any of that, as I'm mid sentence explaining the problem she rolls her eyes, walks over to her coworker and starts obviously whispering about my complaint. Which, to be honest just really made me feel like a bullied teen in high school, but whatever Majestic. I'm glad my request to have what I paid for was gossip worthy. And then there's tonight. I go through the drive thru, order my sandwich, get my sandwich, and it's wrong. The store is closed at the point I get up to the doors with my wrong sandwich. I knock on the door. The employees can hear me, SEE ME HOLDING MY WRONG SANDWICH, and choose to flat out ignore me. I had to call the store, the (I assume) manager, Summer, answers, lets me in, and corrects my order, as I stand there in the lobby with every employee refusing to make eye contact with me. i used to like Panera a lot, but I've had a series or really bad recent situations. Tainted food, bait and switch on pricing. I wanted to order a pack of 6 flip flop shoe cookies for my nieces and nephews. The company's web site lists 9.99 for 6. When I got to the store they were 11.99 and the manager informed me she would give me the advertised price "this time." She was bitchy and acted like she was doing me a favor by charging what they say they will charge. Ridiculous. It does no good to call the corporate office. I stopped by here on a road trip with family and was pleasantly surprised to see that this Panera was no different from the others I have frequented at home, which came as welcome need to us weary travelers. I ordered a chocolate chip muffie and a Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. The service at this location is exceptional and we were given special attention when ordering and getting our food to go. I personally thought that both the pastry and the sandwich were much better than the ones I normally get, with the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich filled with fresh bell peppers and crunchy lettuce. I'm a Panera junkie. When traveling for work I look for the familiar comfort of a Panera wherever I happen to land. I was staying in Wheeling, so I drove over to this location for lunch and damn - I really wish I hadn't. I got super sick within 30 minutes of eating my lunch. I know it can happen and it won't keep me from eating at Panera in the future, but if I am in the Wheeling area again I'll drive in the opposite direction toward the other Panera. read more

The employee at the register told me that there was someone who works there that was vegan, and she would get him to help me further decide what to get. My friends an I stopped at the OV Mall location for lunch. We each chose our meals from the pick 2 menu : Soup, 1/2 sandwich, and salad. The broccoli cheese soup was delicious and the toasted cheese 1/2 weare both filling and good. One friend had the tomato soup and sandwich while the other had the broccoli cheese soup and Cesar salad. The salad wasn't as good as expected, something in the taste was just not right.
