I don't know what any of these were called but they were all delicious

This was our first day in Madrid after a very very VERY long flight. Tired and wanting to have a snack, we stumbled on Pannus and were amazed at the low price for everything we got. 2 cortados, around 4 pastries, 2 fresh orange juices and the price was around 10 euros. The staff was very nice to us, and the food was really good! If we had spent more time in Madrid, I'm sure we would've been back.

This bakery was close to my lodging while staying in Madrid. I passed it on my walk to Gran Via every day. I stopped in one morning for a chocolate croissant. It was exactly what I was craving and affordable too. This bakery is a perfect place to get bread and sweet treats. They also serve sandwiches and quiche if you are a bit more hungry.

Napolitana (chocolate croissant) 1.20 euro. Absolutely delicious...dare I say ever?

The best chocolate croissant I have ever had (and I love chocolate croissants!). The chocolate was very rich - you can taste little pockets of extra sugar. The pastry was so shiny. And sprinkles on top?! Sprinkles make everything better. I would be lucky to be able to go back.

Probably my best breakfast place. Great food, inexpensive, ambiance, Mom-and-Pop style, plentiful seating and workers who try hard to help non-Spanish speakers (though they themselves do not speak English). Anyone who thinks this is 4-star is crazy!

    Micro croissants looking cute!

Ordered coffee con leche, two micro croissants and two empadillas - one with spinach and one with tuna. Coffee was ok and so were the empadillas. Micro croissants, despite looking super cute, did not taste like croissants at all (or maybe they were made out of a non-croissant dough).

Lovely friendly staff, and cheap delicious pastries and great coffee. They have a coffee + croissant deal for €1.70. Can't beat that.

Based on the definitive opinions of travel vloggers, this appeared to be the place to get the fabled chocolate con churros. Jamie W and I made our way here through the labyrinth of streets near Puerta del Sol. It was early evening so no surprise there was a queue, but it moved quickly because this historic place was a model of efficiency. It's the type of place where you need to be ready to order the moment you're in front of the hostess. Luckily, we had made mental notes of what to order from one particular vlogger, so we were ready. It only took a minute to secure one of their marble cafe tables. Our order arrived fairly quickly. It consisted of a 2,5€ plate of Churros, six long sticks of chewy, delicious dough. Unlike the Mexican version, it wasn't dusted with sugar because the 3,7€ cup of Hot Chocolate was more than enough (Photo 8). Incredibly rich and only lightly sweetened. The churros might've been enough for a neophyte, but we double-downed with a 2,5€ order of two Porros (Photo 7). Porras are a thicker, doughier version of churros, so of course, they were our favorites because they really held the chocolate with assurance. Even though we went through two cups of hot chocolate, we still had 2,4€ cups of Cafes con Leche to wash it all down (Photo 10). It was an ideal dessert experience because who doesn't love awesome doughnuts? Definitely a must-gorge when in Madrid. I'm not normally a breakfast person, but, well, a lot changes when I'm on vacation, especially in cities so known for their food, and more specifically, their coffee and pastries. They do have a slightly confusing system for ordering - at least when I was there, the pastries are in the front and ordered individually from there, like a bakery, but if you're getting drinks to drink there, you have to sit down and wait for a waiter, then if you're getting both, get up again to buy pastries, which they will then put on your open tab. Thankfully, everyone spoke perfect English, so it was an easy enough explanation and process - still a bit weird though. And we still got our coffee orders in like 3 minutes. Coffee-wise, we tried their fancy "Dubai matcha latte", which was... very good, super flavorful, just slightly sweet (it came with a sugar packet if you wanted it sweeter, which it definitely didn't need to be.) Not sure it justified, to me personally, being so much more expensive than all the extremely affordable, less "specialty" drinks, but it was very good. Also a "bombon", a drink word I also learned that day, and then was sad when I didn't see it on the menus at any of the other coffee shops I stopped at, because it was quite good, and, again, also quite cheap. *Super* sweet, obviously, but great. (I was amused that that one *also* came with a sugar packet, which it *definitely* didn't need.) I also tried their chocolate croissant, which, yeah, wonderful. Their pastries are a bit pricier than the coffee drinks, but the croissant melts in your mouth, great chocolate, tons of it, and not, as is often the case with otherwise good chocolate croissants, only in the center. Chocolate actually everywhere. A great croissant. Would definitely be back here often, if I weren't thousands of miles away, normally.

My Airbnb host recommended this place and it is one of the best bakeries I've ever tried! Their…read moreservice was very quick and they had a beautiful interior. Where they really shine is their baked goods. I highly recommend the chocolate croissant with a coffee! I should've went here every day on my vacation. My only regret is not going early on my trip so I can go there everyday!
