He appeared to be somewhat of a conversationalist. He saw me hesitate and yelled, "come on in". I seen other big dogs in there and since no one was in the big dog side it appeared he was telling everyone to merge to the small side. I waited for a minute to observe what was going on and overheard him telling a young man that "sometimes rules are meant to be broken". It was a waste of time and gas for me. Just a note:, I adopted two small rescue dogs from the kennel and they are manic panic whenever they are near Large dogs which is why I bring them to the small designated side of the dog park until their trauma and recovery subsides. The second visit I noticed a very large Irish setter sheep hound type dog in the small dog park. Unfortunately, I had to say something as I wasn't about to turn around this time at the expense of some else's convenience. As the owner walked past me with his dog he said, "my dog doesn't like other bid dogs" . I replied, "I'm sorry to hear that but neither do mine so I am sure you van understand". Perhaps the city can post a sign at the entrance to enforce this rule in more detail since some people appear to feel they are above others?

She loves traveling with us. We stayed at an AirBnB less than a five minute drive from this facility. Before we went to dinner with an old friend from work, we wanted to give the pup a walk to tire her out. I saw from the internet that this spot was very nearby. The other reviews here are not charitable. Suffice it to say my wife said when we arrived, what a joke, and she wanted us to look for someplace else. I insisted we go in. We had the whole area to ourselves. She agreed we could walk around the perimeter a few times for exercise and perhaps the dog would do her business. The dog also was able to be off leash. Although she isn't the most sociable. we could easily see anybody coming well before they showed up. The reason people are unkind is this is a tiny square that is fenced in, filled with wood chips, with an adjacent smaller square designated for the animals under 25 pounds. So it is not sizable. It also has no green and no shade. We were there in the early spring. Yet this being the desert climate it is, the sun was beating down on us as in an old time pulp novel where the detective is hung over after a hard night on the town. At least they have a double door system as a proper dog park should. That reduces the risk of a dog bolting into traffic (the inner door does not shut properly though). I infer the premises are used from the amount of poop that was out there, creating a minefield. People need to pick up, and you would think the social contract would enforce itself, but, no, there was evidence that dogs had visited, all over, thoroughly dried out but difficult to detect since more or less the same color as the ground cover. Despite having been baked, the waste is still capable of sticking to your shoes. My wife scolded me when we inspected our shoes. I had made a misstep. This desolate installation is next to the local fire station. The only person we saw was a guy on his way to work, carrying heavy boots. I close with a sad story. Ernest Hemingway reputedly wrote the world's saddest story in only six words. That is an apocryphal meta-story, which is to say it is not true that he penned the words: For sale, baby shoes, never worn. My wife did better. We left out cans in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco with her handwritten sign: Free dog food. Ours died. That is what came to mind looking out at this forlorn location.

This dog park is fully fenced with a separate area for small dogs, although when we were visiting, all dogs coexisted in the main dog park. Instead of driving, we decided to get a tour and let them guide us and drive us around. Well, it was a 2 hour tour and Tony, our guide, kind of spent a little extra time with us, after other people got off the tram. Weather was just perfect. We loved everything about this tour. It is breathtaking, beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. The tour included hiking, taking couple of photos, and other things..We took the Palm Canyon trail which is relatively an easy hike for the 1st mile. Gorgeous views to stop by and take photos. Beautiful waterfalls and can also be fun for children. We were there earlier this year and that's all I can say and remember about this tour. I highly recommend to all. Prices are $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors and kids. They have a gift shop, restroom at the front of the entrance, plenty of parking spaces and it was a memorable experience. We are both glad that we took this tour. :-) Make sure you are out by 5pm, they will nicely escort you to your vehicles. Take extra clothes to change, pretty humid; and a gallon/bottles of water. From a…read morenice cool walk under the trees next to the natural water flowing up through the ground then to some fabulous hiking with glorious views of the mountains to all the creatures that live all around it. Keep your eyes open for all of them and especially for the dangerous ones hiding around rocks. Stay away from the selfies with them. Shouldn't have to say it but.... Well worth the $12.00 entry fee per car. Come here when it's hot for a cooler experience under the trees or winter for some good hiking. This is Palm Springs after all.
