This is the second time going to this park where big dogs where in the small dog side. The first time there was a regular older man who had all his large dogs in the small dog side. He appeared to be somewhat of a conversationalist. He saw me hesitate and yelled, "come on in". I seen other big dogs in there and since no one was in the big dog side it appeared he was telling everyone to merge to the small side. I waited for a minute to observe what was going on and overheard him telling a young man that "sometimes rules are meant to be broken". It was a waste of time and gas for me. Just a note:, I adopted two small rescue dogs from the kennel and they are manic panic whenever they are near Large dogs which is why I bring them to the small designated side of the dog park until their trauma and recovery subsides. The second visit I noticed a very large Irish setter sheep hound type dog in the small dog park. Unfortunately, I had to say something as I wasn't about to turn around this time at the expense of some else's convenience. As the owner walked past me with his dog he said, "my dog doesn't like other bid dogs" . I replied, "I'm sorry to hear that but neither do mine so I am sure you van understand". Perhaps the city can post a sign at the entrance to enforce this rule in more detail since some people appear to feel they are above others? read more

There's an owner with two big dogs that's constantly on the small dogs side. One of his dogs has a history of being aggressive with other dogs, but he failed to make me aware of that when I brought my puppy in. Not even 5 minutes later, his dog took my puppy playing as a threat, and bit his head and nose. The owner of the other dog suggested we don't take him to an ER as it would be too "expensive", but did offer to cover the vet as he felt it was his responsibility. Eventually he only covered half the bill after consulting with his friends. If you see an older male with two big dogs (Airedale Terrier & Bernedoodle) , don't even bother taking your dog into the same side. He may come off friendly, but he's not that reliable and neither is his dog. read more

This is a great dog park with easy parking. They have a big dog and little dog side. There are several trash cans with poop bags included. Both sides are pretty large which gives the dogs room to run. There are plenty of bench's and there is a large gazebo on both sides for shade. read more

Hands down one of the most up kept well maintenance parks. I was told when I got here but they just opened it up that it had been closed for a month. I've never been to a park dog park where they actually have restrooms for the owners and they were very clean. Grass is very well-kept lots of shade and a pavilion. It is clear that the dog owners in this area love their community and keep up with their park. Thank you for sharing it with me. Made a pit stop for my four legged friend on our way back home to Los Angeles. Very well kept with adequate doggy bags for when your pet does their business, and water bowls for when they're thirsty after their zoomies. Not many dogs to play with since it's located in a somewhat isolated area. We also came during the Super Bowl weekend which may be the reason for little play activity. read more

This is the desert's newest, and in my opinion best dog park. Hidden in the middle of the desolate University Park development and just behind Gerald Ford Drive. Enter off Pacific and you can't miss it as it's the only thing out there. The park is very clean and not littered with droppings and cigarette butts like I have seen at other area parks. There are areas for both big and small dogs, along with public restrooms. The owners seem to be a little more involved with there dogs than at other parks and everyone seems to have a good time. There are only about 15 parking spaces, but plenty of street parking for now. Once things start to develop in the area, I hope they add additional parking. read more

Such a nice dog park. It gets crowded in the early morning, so if you're dog doesn't like crowds you might want to wait until evening. But even when it's crowded, you can usually find a quiet corner where they shy dogs hang out. The other dog owners are friendly. It's social hour for pets and humans here. This dog Park is the nicest dog park in the desert, no question about it, but it is still not my favorite. While we played tourist, she was stuck travelling in the car and getting the obligatory relief walks. She couldn't even run and play outside at our resort. So, she definitely needed her own getaway spot, and this couldn't have been better. I only wish there were some other dogs there for her to play with and sniff. Bad timing, not the park's fault. Owner and dog friendly, there are two sections, one for big dogs, one for small. There was plenty of cooling green grass, mature trees offering comfortable shade from the unrelenting desert sun, sturdy concrete benches, a permanent canopy with misters going, a clean water dish, a handful of slightly used tennis balls, a pooper scooper and bags, and of course, the obligatory fence so our canine friends can frolic leash-free. read more

The dog park is great. Great space for the dogs to run, balls everywhere, and some shade. But recently, the park has gone into disrepair. I go here everyday and it seems like its never attended anymore. Grass is dying and many patches of already dead grass or just dirt. The main problem is a flood in the park. There's an area full of water that hasn't been attended yet, and it's been there for a while. It's not good for the dogs, and us owners. Having muddy dogs in our house? That's definitely a no no. This park was so great! It's just neglected now and it's sad. read more

Loved this park! And so did my dog:-) both parks (small and large dog areas) have amole room to run and play. There are ample water bowls, poop bags and trash cans. Furthermore - there are bathrooms for the humans! It is very quiet and peaceful. Nice covered areas to sit as well. My only gripe is that 3 of the 4 sides surrounding the sitting areas was comprised of large rock (on the ground). Easy to twist an ankle - and my doggie hated walking on it. But thats not a big enough issue to deter me- or deduct points. read more

One of the best dog parks we have ever visited. We call it "the club" and our dogs get so excited when they get to come here!!! It is a clean, well kept, pretty landscape for the decently sized area. Nice grass for the dogs. There is a large dog area and a small dog area. Water, waste bags, and tennis balls are provided. There are plenty of benches as well as a shades pavilion. There are even clean, well maintained restrooms for the humans. It gets busy in the late afternoon, so parking spaces can be limited. read more

First visit with a friend and my friendly pooch. When we arrived she ran in happily to see the other large dogs (she is a Bassett/Beagle 45 lb. dog). A large German Shepherd jumped up and bit her through the ear and just above the eye. After the attack she stuck up for herself. We screamed and ran to them and it ended. The man that owned the dog never got up to correct his dog nor did he apologize. He did say he's never been that aggressive before. Other dog owners did tell us that the dog has created problems before. I know it is not the parks fault but it was a sad first experience for me. We did stay and play with the other friendly dogs, and only wish the owner of the shepherd was more responsible. Anyway beware of the German Shepherd with the German name. (sorry can't think of it right now). I'll go back but will be sure he is not there. read more

Hello, I been attending this park for over three years now . It's been maintained for the most part . Once a year it's closed /nov , for reseeding . I truly love dogs and give a shout out that come here and play with there dogs. I like to see others play with there dogs . It make it's hard to please every one and get along with those who don't interact with all dogs ,I was once told it was like going to the swimming pool " you will get wet. Lol read more

So sad to report that my dog got infected twice with hook worm here. I would never say this as an animal activist but several other pet owners I spoke to also had to take their dog to a vet to be treated after visiting this park. Such a shame, cause its such a pretty park that is well maintained with regular scheduled cleaning. read more

Great dog park for the Palm Desert. Dead grass and big. Most dogs are friendly and lots of balls to play with. However the entrance by the dog park smells like dog piss and that is a turn off. I brought my chihuahua, Frida here and she loved it. We came right around 4 and it was pretty crowded but dogs came and left in waves. There was a lot of space for frida to run and I loved that there was a little dog section. My dog gets intimidated by big dogs and it was nice for her to still see them through the fence but not be worried about them getting to close. Lots of people bring balls but it looks like some are abandoned so don't fret if you forget one. Overall it all looked very clean and taken care of. There were plenty of water fountains and bowls for the dogs, Complementary doggie bags, and access to pooper scoopers for larger messes. Attractively designed and well kept. Bottom line: great park, will come back, will recommend. read more

Great and responsible dog owners. Two large areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. Trees, benches, water fountain, dogie poop bags, restrooms, trash cans and covered space with benches for shade. Parking is limited that's the only drawback, but if you get there by 7:00 am you will find a space. I have been parking in either side of the road but I was told the "traffic nazis" used to give tickets for illegal parking, who knows when they going to start doing it again. Looks nice but bad designing. Only about 8 parking spaces, entrance for small dogs and large dogs together which is dangerous.The designer should have made the small dog area smaller so it would have discouraged people from making it a Large Dog/Large Dog Park. I have a 5 lb Yorkshire Terrier and a 10 lb Terrier mix. There was a sign stating dogs under 25 lbs only but it didn't stop selfish people from just using whatever side they wanted. I tried to go in with my dogs but one dog was ready to pounce on my smallest one so I scooped them up and left immediately. People are more interested in their phones or talking to one another and not watching their dogs. I heard a fight in the so-called large dog side as I was leaving. If you have a medium to large dog and you can find parking you may be alright but if you have dogs under 15 pounds I wouldn't take the chance on them being attacked. read more

It's been closed for the last two weeks for reseeding and after visiting other parks, I've come to realize how lucky my Burley boy and I are to have such a welcoming, clean and friendly environment to get out his "ya yas" as we call them. Decided to spend a few days in the area to get a little R&R. We wanted our pup to enjoy too. One of the nicest dog parks we've seen and the restrooms were very clean which is pretty surprising for a public restroom.
