I live year-round in Ortley Beach and have been going to Lasolas for years. It wasn't as crowded as I expected for a 4th of July. I go to the meat counter and "gentleman" asks me if he could help me. I tell him that I want to get a skirt steak a little more than a pound and few filets. He takes out a skirt steak and weighs it and, after I ask him the weight, he says 1.76 lbs. I said I would like something smaller and pointed to a smaller steak in the case. He stands there and stares at me annoyingly like "are you kidding me?" and proceeds to tell me "I don't want to handle all of the steaks in the case". Then asks me "do you want this steak or not" holding up the large steak. I had just told him before that I wanted a smaller one so I tell, quite loudly, "I don't want anything from this store now or ever again" and walked out. But not before saying, again loudly, "I sure do miss Lasolas!". I guess that at Mid-shore Meats, the customer does NOT come first.

Was told it's being delivered later that day to call between 4p-5p. I did so nobody picked up the phone. Came into the store this morning. Had a very young gentleman working. Again did not understand much and did not know pricing. He said he just started working there. He told me there is no skirt steak. So was the previous day worker lying to me about the delivery. This is bad service. I don't mind the language barrier however the workers should know prices of items and the different cuts of meat. And should know if the meat that I am requesting is actually going to be delivered. Maybe I will try one more time to come back but highly skeptical about a meat store where the employees do not know pricing and the cuts of meat that the customer is asking about.
