Just a simple and solid Burger joint. I appreciate the ample parking and indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and the cooks pretty good. It will get crowded around lunch time at dinner time here. The onion rings were just okay, they're more like onion strings. The Cajun fries were quite tasty and I'd probably recommend those. The portion size is huge for the onion rings and fries, a small order is more than enough for two people. The burgers themselves are on the small side, but fairly priced. I am a huge burger fan but only if I go out to eat one. Holy smokes these were hands down the best burgers. Looks like they have hot dogs and chicken sandwiches too. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Takes cards. Counter service and you get a beeper to alert you when food is ready so all cooked to order. Alcohol available. I tried Papa Joe's for the first time based on a recommendation that they serve up the best burgers and boy did they not disappoint. I ordered Jay's Bacon Blue Burger and enjoyed a hearty sized burger, topped with bleu cheese, bacon, cheddar, lettuce and their house dressing. It had the perfect amount of ingredients and the burger was not soggy. I ordered the sweet potato fries that were not overly greasy and offered great flavor. So, Papa Joe's is a walk in and order at the counter joint. Burger and Dog's with fries, onion rings, and poutine. The young adults seem to run the place and they were more than friendly at the counter. I ordered up the "Tim's Bacon Cheese burger and a small fry for about $12.00. The give you a buzzer and you wait until the buzzer goes off. Here I am looking around at a mostly full restaurant at 2:30 on a weekday and say they must be doing something right. They do, the burger was a yummy hand made patty with bacon, cheese and I added tomato, onion, lettuce and ketchup. It was a good thing that they had a roll of paper towels on the table as eating it became an adventure.... A truly delicious wonderful adventure. The fries are good size, cooked to order, hot and crispy on the outside and soft and cooked on the inside. These guys should teach a fry course. I would describe this place a divey and probably not a good date night....unless you have been married a while and want the best burger around for miles. This was probably one of the best non-franchise burgers I've ever had. The patty was so flavorful. Most times you think about what you want in a burger like lettuce, tomato, or even fried egg. This morning my boyfriend woke up craving "a really good burger with some char on it." We considered some of our local restaurants but none of them fit the bill. So I took to the internet to find out who made the list of Best Burgers in NH and stumbled upon Papa Joe's. Since it was the closest of the restaurants on the list we headed over for lunch. I am happy to report the internet did not steer me wrong and this place completely satisfied the craving my bf was having (whew!). We ordered a small Chili & Cheese Fries with the fries well done and the portion was more than enough for the two of us to split. There was ample cheese, chili and flavor. The cheese is the sauce kind not melted , shredded cheese so it coats every fry is a delicious way. However take note that it isn't a spicy chili if that's what you're looking for. I got a bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms, grilled onions, ketchup and mayo and it was delicious! Super juicy but it still had a great char on the outside. My boyfriend also got a bacon cheeseburger but got lettuce, raw onion, tomato, ketchup and mustard on his. He had nothing but positive reviews for it. The only criticism I would have, if you could even call it that was that one of the employees, a tall blonde woman, was a bit brusque with us. However later I observed her being quite friendly with a couple of other customers that she seemed to be familiar with so I imagine they were regulars she knew and if we became regulars she may become friendlier. A great local spot, and very affordable for the pocket. As a born New Hampshirite I like most of the old yankees hate gentrification. It is important to support locally family owned businesses. The year has killed off many of these gems. I highly recommend getting a burger or some poutine here instead of the chain restaurants. It was Friday, and they have seafood, Fridays and sometimes Saturdays. The haddock sandwhich which was very good. Fish can be a dicey thing to order some places, I would totally try the clams next time. Turns out the owner used to own Milford Fish market back when it was good. My partner had the bacon cheeseburger, which tasted awesome. They use daily picked up fresh beef it says on the menu. The poutine was delicious, and better than most of the examples I have had outside of Canada, and Maine. We also ordered onion rings which were okay. The portions of the sides are large, a small is what some places call a large. Needless to say we did not eat through all of the two small sides, one would have been plenty for us to share. We finally found a place where you're getting a true burger!!!! Their portions are huge. Their smalls are larges in other places. The prices are also great!!!! The only reason it did not get a 5 star is because of when I called and have that was the worker who answered the answered the phone when I called to see if they put salt on the burgers ( I ordered a burger that I had the time before ) only this time it was very salty. I just wanted to know so I can order it without the salt, and he yells out back, saying she has a complaint about her burger. I wasn't complaining. I wanted to know for next time. I wasn't fond of that. But the food is really good and definitely if you are looking for a burger or even fish and chips( which I absolutely loved also) this is the place to go for sure!!! read more
