Rock solid Asian food for Sunday lunch! The pan fried Gyoza were crisp and light and delicious. The Ahi Tuna "pizza" was great and tasty. The Summer rolls were good - I wish the peanut sauce was more "dippable" but they were good. Daughter had a bowl of Pho which was huge and delicious. Wife had a lovely Mango salad with chicken (wish the veggies were sliced more finely but tasted great). I had a Caesar salad which I felt was over dressed. Overall my take is the Asian / Vietnamese food is amazing at solid prices with good service. read more

We came on a rainy Saturday night and were seated right away at 6:30 pm. This was not our first dining experience here, but it had been a while. We sat with menus for about 15 minutes before being greeted by our server, Felicia. We ordered a lychee martini and dragon rising. The drinks tasted unbalanced, the lychee martini having too much vodka and not much lychee taste despite at least a lychee garnish. It was like just having Tito's, shaken, but with a strange non lychee aftertaste. The dragon rising was a negroni with blood orange, heavy on vermouth. I couldn't finish my cocktail, which was a first. We ordered a summer roll appetizer, which is chilled shrimp and pork with rice noodles, basil in clear rice wrapper, and you'd think would be pre-made and ready to go. We waited for about 30 minutes for this. Our waitress in the meantime sat in the last booth scarfing down some dinner while we were starving waiting for our first bite. For dinner, we got special pho, combo pho, and kids chicken nuggets. This arrived about an hour after we were seated. My daughter polished off her chicken nuggets. The pho was delicious. The broth was outstanding. The special pho came with a large beef shank on a bone. They brought a separate plate and large steak knife to help cut the beef off the bone. The beef itself was pretty bland.. The pho broth and summer rolls were outstanding. I would order takeout if ever in the mood for pho or ramen. Ambiance and service are above average, it's the food. Hit or miss, I've gone three times. The first time was a big hit, the next two were a miss. They can't do temperatures and I believe if they get it right, it was pure luck. The sun has a big menu Asian and American. Unfortunately they don't do either well. Delicious restaurant in Milford. Sun Bar & Grill in the Shaws strip in Milford is a must visit. The service is excellent. The restaurant is clean and upscale. The food is delicious. We ordered a Scorpion Bowl and Mojito. Crab Rangoon, Pork Gyoza, Spring Rolls, crispy Chicken Wings and Ahi Tuna. All delicious. Next time I will try the Pad Thai and Fried Rice or Pho. read more

This posting is for dinner. Sun Bar & Grill opened this week in the Lorden Plaza in Milford. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They take a break during the day and close at 2pm and reopen at 3pm. The place has a modern atmosphere which has the long bar with seating & TVs and high tops to the left and table seating and booths to the right. The bar offers 10 beers on tap, bottled beers, wine, and mixed drinks. They serve up a traditional breakfast with egg dishes, omelets, pancakes, French toast, breakfast sides and brunch selections from the lunch/dinner menu. The lunch/dinner menu offers a combination of American and Asian fare including burgers, salads, appetizers/snacks, wonton soup, chowder, fried rice, seafood dishes, filet mignon, lobster mac & cheese, and desserts. The prices here are moderate. I stopped by for dinner on the second night of business. The place was a bit busy and loud and I took a seat up at the bar where most seats were occupied. The bartender brought over a menu to look at and I got an ice water to start. I was informed that the menu would be expanding soon after opening week. For a starter, the Mussels ($16 plus tax) had 26 sauteed mussels steamed in a white wine mussels & garlic butter broth with a medley of fresh herbs and spices, served with a grilled sliced baguette bread, which was very firm and crunchy outside. The broth had a very overwhelming wine flavor (could not taste much else), but otherwise the mussels were a good start. For a dinner entree, the Fish & Chips ($18 plus tax) had a big thick piece of freshly fried breaded haddock over golden fresh cut fries served with string shredded cole slaw and ketchup, tartar sauce, lemons and green garnish on the side. The golden fried haddock had a nice crunchy breading on the outside. The fresh cut fries were hot and crisp. The cole slaw had a creamy vinegar flavor. I had my fill and requested a box for the haddock and sauces. I passed on dessert (chocolate lava cake, cheesecake) and got the check which was $36.89 with tax and before tip. I was also given a small thank you bag with a candle and fortune cookie. Overall, my dinner was pretty good and the fish & chips were a hit with me. The mussels were pretty decent. I am anxious to return for breakfast so I can update this posting. read more

well it's in the shaws mall there in Milford so......well it was lovely inside, not what I expected at all, the bar and woodwork were beautiful...service was attentive and pleasant, smallish menu but lots of variety, we had the fish and chips which was excellent and the chicken ramen which was pretty good but not being really proficient with chop sticks we wondered how to attack the chicken leg....oh, they do give you a knife and fork.. liked it alot, lovely spot!! read more

We live 30 minutes away and had wanted to try this place. We went for lunch. Our food was just ok. I got a hamburger that was "build my own" And my husband got a chicken sandwich. His sandwich was small. He got a beer and I got a martini. Our bill was about $65 before the tip. The inside was very clean but I was very cold. Even our waiter told us he was cold. However, we cannot say enough positive things! It started with the bartender being willing to try making a spicy margarita (not on the menu) and it was delicious! I was very impressed with the dinner I had here at Sun Bar and Grill. The staff was very friendly, easy to talk to, and definitely contributed to my overall experience. I started off with the pork belly tacos, which were a delight given the range of toppings inside. I then got the burger and it was very tasty. It was cooked medium rare just like I asked, and came with a sizable portion of french fries. I also got their Mai Tai, and it was delicious and not too sweet, just the way I like it. This place is just average. No matter how you slice it, it's still located in a strip mall. The ice is hit or miss--sometimes great, but tonight wasn't one of those times. Our waitress seemed uninterested and almost irritated, which made the experience feel underwhelming. We ended up leaving after just one drink. Tried Sun Bar and Grill, for the first time today. Absolutely loved the place. My wife had the calamari, and I had the lobster mac and cheese. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Have gone twice now and unfortunately no improvement on service or food. Ambiance is great however! Sat a the bar both times and waited at least 10 minutes before we could get eye contact with anyone to order a drink. I ordered off the drink special menu and got the feeling they had no idea on how to make any of the drinks. Taste was unappealing and bland. Was told after waiting 30 min that they no longer had the appetizer I wanted. ( this happened at both visit). Same thing happened with my dinner order. Very disappointing! Dumplings were toasted beautifully on one side and completely raw on the other. Pork belly on the Pork belly taco appetizer was not cooked properly. Was like chewing on a 1/4" thick piece of almost raw bacon. Nasty! Will probably wait a few months so they can hopefully get there bugs worked out. But 3 strikes and they will be out.....l read more

Raining all day and went to check out Sun Bar & Grill and so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and modern. We took seats at the bar and greated by Jane. Her warm smile took the chill off. I tried the Lychee martini and was amazed, not tart and just sweet enough. Hubby got his go to Hot & Dirty martini. Sat at the bar, waited 15+ minutes for my MaiTai because they sent an employee to Shaws to get more pineapple juice, I didn't mind waiting but then felt like forever before the bartender took our app order. Bartender kept walking by us to talk to another party at the end of the bar, barely checking in on us. FINALLY got to put our dinner order in, the food was good, drinks were good, but service was not. The couple on the other side of us left before they could order food because they were also fed up with the lack of attention. We ate here for the first time today around 3:30 p.m. The assistant manager, Sierra, seated us. She was the sweetest thing and full of smiles-so pretty too! She went through the menu with us making great suggestions. We enjoyed ice cold beer and had wonderful conversations with our bartender, Carolyn. Come to find out, we live near each other. We split a wedge salad which could have been a meal in itself-great portion. So many restaurants do not give a good sized wedge salad and this was perfect! I had the chicken sandwich with fries which was cooked perfectly and was absolutely yummy. Not a typical fried chicken sandwich which was so nice because so many restaurants serve the same food and it was nice having something a little different. My husband had steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. He loved it. The menu isn't extremely large which is very nice. We eat out at least once a week and were very impressed with this restaurant. The decor was beautiful and you can see that the owners put a lot of thought into the designs. The layout of the bar was perfect with 5 large tv's. These are all pluses for us. Honestly, this is the best restaurant we have eaten at in the Milford and Amherst area. Please spead the word and eat here. There is so much competition out there and this restaurant is worth checking out. We will definitely be back. The only negative thing I can say is that you need a place like this in northern NH!! read more
