Review for store at 1699 University Ave, in Waterloo, IA. I ordered a pizza bowl, and cheese sticks to be delivered around 9:45 pm. At around 11:00 pm and pizza had not arrived. I used the tracking to track the pizza and the app said pizza was delivered. I checked my front steps, no pizza. I checked my side steps and my order had been left on the steps. When I called to complain, I was told that the driver knocked a few times. Asked why he did not ring the doorbell, I was told, not all doorbells work. This was also a prepaid order, so I suggest not prepaying for your order, because then maybe they will ring the doorbell so they can get paid. read more

Don't order pizza very often but was really hungry for it. Had a Hawaiian and a pepperoni and sausage. The ham on the Hawaiian was little square hard chips. The crust on both was overdone and was like trying to chew through leather. HORRIBLE!!!! read more

I love this place. I order from here a few times a month. Today I forgot to add a pizza to my original order through the app so I placed a second order. I called the place and explained the situation. They were extremely nice and understanding. They ended up delivering both order together and everything was hot and delicious even with my mistake. points -0. Received a pizza on Wednesday Mar 1, 2023, it was The Works. After receiving the pizza, I called back and spoke to the manager to complain about the crust being raw. I was told the crust is like that because the toppings for the Works pizza tend to be wet or soggy, making the crust soggy. Well, there is a difference from a cooked pizza crust that is soggy, versus a uncooked pizza crust that is raw. If you know the works toppings are wet, make an effort to dry them out before applying to the pizza. I advise anyone to not go to this pizza place, they are not interested in improving their services, just makes excuses. read more

Tonight I ordered a well-done, regular crust, XL 1-topping, square-cut pizza accompanied by garlic breadsticks and a 2 ltr diet coke. We received a hot meal, but there was no consistency in the thickness of the pizza crust. It was super thin in the middle, folded over on some of the edges, much thicker towards the outside of the pizza, and it was *underdone*, not well-done. As the pizza slices were picked up with fingers the whole slice went limp and the toppings all fell off onto either your plate, shirt, lap or the table. In the past, it has been our experience with other pizza companies, that a square-cut well-done crust is not limp. It's crispy and holds shape when picked up. This is why we ask for square-cut well-done pizza crust. The breadsticks were doughy, *underdone*, chewy, went limp when picked up with your fingers, and they were not cut to a consistent width or thickness. We've ordered pizzas from here three times in the last 4 months. Each time there have been serious problems with the order/pizza. This is the last time for a while, it's not worth the money spent to end up not receiving a proper order. read more

Only gave it a 1 star because I had to select at least 1. Ordered a "Works" pizza added pineapple. The dough was raw called to tell Zach the manager he said it was because of the green,peppers and pineapple. I used to love Papa Johns but will never go there again. Who wants to eat a Raw cold pizza. Waste of $25. He acyed lime it was my fault for ordering a pizza with pineapple and green pepper supposedly thats why it was flopping over and raw. Prior to that was put on hold and the employee just missed phone aside and complained to another employee about f...ing Bailey and Misty having to leave because of Her mom. F this and F that was said. I remained on the line trying to complete my order when we called from another phone and was told their lines were all hung up. Meanwhile I could here them on the phone. I ordered pizza from them the other day my total came to 32.82 I had a $50 bill on me I know they carry two 5's and ten 1's so I told the driver to give me $15 back. She snootingly said "we don't accept $50 bills so I told her nicely "I am asking for an amount back that is under what you carry" she gave me the $15 and walked down my steps and my sidewalk talking crap under her breathe. My fiancé called the store asked for the manager and explained the situation to her (her name was Jenna) Jenna simply told her that they only carry $20 on them due to thefts not caring about anything else that this driver (Glenda) had done when she came to my house. She was making up excuses for her and everything not trying to fix the situation my fiancé explained to her that she knows what they carry on them because I used to work there. Jenna did not offer any type of compensation for this whatsoever felt it was easier to tell my fiancé that she would talk to Glenda about the way she spoke to me. Their food is great but their drivers and supervisors are horrible. I don't recommend getting delivery unless you want an attitude from someone because you ask for an amount they clearly have. read more

The delivery driver gave us the wrong order, we had to walk the order back to him before he drove off to correct him -- which we were willing to let slide with the understanding that recipes can get switched on accident. But when we finally got our order in the house & after having a few slices of pizza, we opened our wing order to find it was wrong. Upon calling the store to speak to a manager we were transferred to the 'shift manager', we asked her if we could just get our wings refunded? she explained that the only way to get a refund is if we leave our relaxing evening in, to personally bring back our whole entire order (2 pizzas, wings & brownie dessert) without a replacement to gain a full refund of our order, otherwise there is nothing she could do for us. Upon bringing the order into the store I was greeted by the actual 'store manager' who proceeds to tell me that "he doesn't know who told me to bring all of our order in?" apologized & followed with "but that we can take it back home & still refund our order." I asked why 1. Why would I take the wrong order home and 2. Why would I want cold food that you requested I bring back to you? To which I was met with this answer from the manager "we can reheat your food no problem if your willing to wait a few minutes." That is an absolutely disgusting suggestion. They obviously haven't heard of food borne illness & you would think that is a requirement to have some knowledge of customer service and food handling/prep to be in this business. We will never consider papa johns as an option ever again, we won't recommend it and in fact steer people away from Papa Johns. We somehow had to uproot our evening plans, time away from family all because of the lack of caring & laziness of the store/shift manager, delivery driver and food prep staff. Always order the same specialty pizza minus onions with bacon substituted-Always! The 1st few times it was late.20 minutes-30 minutes-over an hour and I was done. Sent a coupon code for a "free 2 topping" which I almost didn't use but did. 40 minutes late with the wrong toppings! on a pie that they were trying to make up for. I try not to take it out on the drivers but ... The management nor the franchise cares about this location.Has gone WAY downhill the past 8 months! By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After a previous bad (1.5 hour late and cold pizza) experience at Papa Johns in Waterloo IA; I was given a % off coupon. I was not told there were certain things it applied to ect, I was only apologized to 100 times. Today I decided to give Papa Johns another chance as I do enjoy their pizza. I attempted to place an order for the $22.00 family special, when I advised the manager Micheal Smith or Schmidt, I was told I cant do that. He then began talking over me and told me I am trying to "double dip". I was then hung up on and in the following 3 attempts I was hung up on as well when requesting his managers contact information. He then proceeded to make inappropriate comments like "who do you think you are" and "I don't know where you where raised but calling here is harassment". I finally was given his managers contact info to whom I am waiting on a returned call from. I will never go back to this franchise. For a customer service based business, to be treated as a scam artist for trying to use a coupon that was given for a previous mistake on Papa Johns fault is extremely unprofessional as was this "general managers" comments and entire approach to this situation. read more
