    Ranier cherries!

If you are a fresh cherry fan and are not turned off by driving to Brentwood then please come to Papa's. Now, there are plenty of farms to choose from of course but this has become a favorite for us because they are open early and everyday. We have been here twice already and planning for a third trip. We make jam, BBQ sauce, freeze them for pie during the holidays, make cherry gin, ice cream and just eat lots of them. The corals, lapin's and rainiers are all delicious. On our second trip, the cherries were even bigger than two weeks prior. We are able to come during the week and earlier in the morning before it gets hot which is ideal. $4 per pound this year is a good deal. Support the local businesses during this short cherry season.

Cherries were sweet depending which trees you found. They have a wire holding the trees in line so look before going through the trees. 2024 it's $4/lbs. They have buckets and bag it for you. They take cash and credit card. It's not tall so you won't get shades from the trees.

I love it! And I will be there next year! Yea There is a rich variety of cherries here, super sweet cherries! But be sure not to pick just after entering, because you will find that the cherries are more delicious as you get to the back! Enjoy your picking time!

Best big yummy sweet cherries!! Excellent customer service , very organized , huge parking lot, clean farm and they have picnic tables. First come first serve on the picnic tables. Sadly, I've seen people not respecting the cherry trees , pulling branches , stepping on branches and picking a bucket full and then leaving them My mother n law has seen a couple of buckets full with cherries that were left behind. Come on people!!!

Delicious cherries! Plenty reachable for the littles too! $4 a pound! The kiddos loved it. Cash only. Be sure to bring your own water for hot days.

Came here after picking Mulberries next door. It was so much fun and there were plenty of cherries! I got home washed them and was so blown away how big and sweet they are! I refrigerate them and serve them as dessert and it's perfect for a summer treat! I should have picked more than 9lbs! Amazing cherries!

Yes, I wore my cherry mask to pick cherries! LOL

We wanted to pick some cherries before they were all gone so we headed out on the Sunday of Memorial day weekend. We got a late start so it was quite hot. We stopped at one farm (Chavez U-Pick) that looked fairly busy. We were hastily rushed through the sign in process and not given and advice or direction where to go. We headed a ways into the orchard, walked about 6 rows and had 7 cherries total. They were totally picked over unless you were 8 feet tall and could reach the tops of the trees. No ladders provided, no assistance, etc. We left there as fast as possible as it was a total waste of time! We headed down the road a bit and found Papa's U-Pick off a side road (Hoffman, I think?) What a total GEM!!!! By now, it was 4:15 and they closed at 5 so we were the only ones checking in and we could hear a few others out in the orchard. We had friendly service going in and filled out the liability form and were given bags to use. Within a few rows, we saw so many cherries just covering the trees! Score!!! The cherries were easy to reach and perfectly ripe! And SOOOO delicious! Within 30 minutes, we had a good amount and went to pay. We had over 6 pounds picked in a half hour! Super nice staff at checkout too and we were VERY happy with this place and will return again soon for more super sweet and yummy cherries!

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

In a world where so many places change over time, it's honestly amazing to have a spot that stays consistently wonderful year after year. Thank you for a decade of memories, sticky fingers, full buckets, and happy hearts. Already counting down until next cherry season! Now to pit them and make a fresh cherry pie..... $4.50/pound

My daughter and I found what looked to be an unpicked cherry tree and went to work. It didn't take long for us to gather a bounty of cherries, and there was tons of low hanging fruit that was super easy for a petite seven-year-old to reach. Special thanks to the Freitas staff member who told us to pick dark cherries. The bright red ones look appealing but they need more time on the tree! We took home seven pounds of cherries. They were $4/pound and they take cash or credit cards. I checked their website before heading here (and recommend you do too!). We'll definitely be back to Freitas.

There was no signage indicating price/pound, and they give you a plastic bag to carry your cherries. When we got into the orchard, we noticed that most of the trees had been either picked clean or had berries that were rotten or too small/not ripe yet. We intentionally walked much further in to see if we could find some trees that hadn't been picked as much, but the orchard wasn't in great shape. We struggled to find cherries we actually wanted to pick, and we tripped a few times on the uneven dirt, weeds, and tubes running throughout. When we left, we weighed our cherries and confirmed they were $4/lb. Freitas also doesn't take credit card, so we had to pay with either cash or Venmo. We've previously been to The Cherry Pit and far preferred our experience there. The Cherry Pit had parking closer to the entrance, clear signage indicating price/lb, lots of high quality trees and ample cherries to pick, and accepts credit cards. The Cherry Pit also didn't ask us to sign a waiver before entering.

I go pick cherries at Chavez once a year for 7-8 years now. I wake up very early and try to get there right when they open so that I don't get stuck in traffic. It can get crowded. They are quite big, sweet and a little tangi. Yummy!! Just make sure to be patient and don't pick the ones that are not that dark yet. Keep going until you find a good tree. The place is quite large, so you'll need to pay for their tractor ride ($4) to get from station to station. We came around 10:00 a.m. on a Monday and the place wasn't crowded. We picked up our baskets and then let the kids place around their tree house for a little bit before getting on the tractor. Our first stop was peaches and apricots. The peaches were pretty low hanging, and the kids were so excited to pick them. However, there weren't that many ripe ones at this time. There were more ripe apricots, and they were sweet and juicy. Our next stop was the strawberry station where there were plenty of ripe strawberries. Our last stop was the cherry station. Our driver directed us to the last row where we could find ladders. Sure enough the cherries were plentiful and so sweet and juicy. There were even kid size ladders for the littles ones. The fruits were 100 times better than what you'll find at the grocery store, and the kids had so much fun picking their own fruits.
