We visited on June 21st, which happened to be the last day of the strawberry-picking season at this farm. The staff mentioned that the season typically starts in April, so I would recommend planning your visit in April or May when the weather is cooler and more comfortable. In addition to strawberry picking, they also offer flower picking and have several beautiful photo spots throughout the property, making it a great outing for families and anyone looking to spend a relaxing day outdoors. We arrived a tad after nine in the morning and promptly found parking, though I can see their lot getting overwhelmed if you choose to sleep in an hour or two more. At that point, there were already a few people in the field, but this wasn't a problem, as there were plenty of strawberries for all! Four kinds, actually: Albion, Chandler, Monterey and Sweet Ann. The rows were laid out nicely, so getting them was as much of a breeze as picking strawberries ever gets. I'd recommend wearing sunscreen, as it's quite exposed. We picked seven pounds of strawberries at five dollars a pound without issue, but if you're planning to get more than that, consider bringing your own scissors. They do have ones available on site to buy if you forget, though. Logistics aside, there's nothing that beats freshly picked strawberries. Maybe world peace, but it's a close thing. Seriously, come try this place out--they're open through June. I'll definitely be back next year!

If it's crowded, I have seen that their staff helps navigate cars to open spots. I always get the juiciest, sweetest cherries. The trick is to ask staff where the ripest cherries are and then go far into the orchard! The trees at the front are usually picked through but the best cherries are deep in the orchard. They do have rainier trees but they are spread out. Price this year was $4/lb. Fair warning: MDW is always super busy in all of Brentwood, expect a lot of traffic and waiting if you choose to go that weekend.

The place is quite large, so you'll need to pay for their tractor ride ($4) to get from station to station. We came around 10:00 a.m. on a Monday and the place wasn't crowded. We picked up our baskets and then let the kids place around their tree house for a little bit before getting on the tractor. Our first stop was peaches and apricots. The peaches were pretty low hanging, and the kids were so excited to pick them. However, there weren't that many ripe ones at this time. There were more ripe apricots, and they were sweet and juicy. Our next stop was the strawberry station where there were plenty of ripe strawberries. Our last stop was the cherry station. Our driver directed us to the last row where we could find ladders. Sure enough the cherries were plentiful and so sweet and juicy. There were even kid size ladders for the littles ones. The fruits were 100 times better than what you'll find at the grocery store, and the kids had so much fun picking their own fruits. If you need a fun activity with the kids, I high recommend coming here.

As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

They grow several different varieties of cherries, and the staff was wonderful about answering all of my questions regarding the different types and which ones were best for picking. If you're looking for the widest selection, I'd recommend visiting during May when the season is in full swing. One thing I appreciated was that they have restrooms and handwashing stations available near the parking lot. After spending time picking cherries and getting a little dirty, it was nice to be able to clean up before heading home. We had a great experience. The farm was well-organized, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the cherries were delicious. We'll definitely be back next year for another cherry-picking adventure!

My MIL bought 20 pounds of cherries this year and originally thought she was getting ripped off (didn't think it was that heavy). She came home and weighed the bag and it ended up being 20 pounds. 2) dog friendly. They are very welcoming with dogs and even remind you to monitor your pet to make sure they don't eat the cherries. If you have a trained dog- it's totally fine. If you don't- keep them home. 3) no frill. Unlike other places that have various types of entertainment- this place really focuses on just cherry picking which we appreciate. If you want the whole show and dance - this is not the place. We like it cause we can go and not expect it to be crowded with people trying to do other things. 4) taste. Can't speak to other farms since we haven't tried them but we find the cherries here to be delightful. 5) customer service. The woman who runs the place is really nice. The other workers are just fine. They're kids so what can you really expect.
