This shop curates a wide variety of stuff that's ideal for gift giving. It's hard not to go overboard ordering just one more cute thing. I really like their needlework kits, greeting cards, and home decor items. Prices are not bargain basement so be warned that a shopping spree can add up fast! Still, shopping local has its own rewards and I am glad that this quirky little place has earned such a large following that it's still standing after all the economic challenges of the pandemic and beyond. That's right, a wall of patches, my friend and I were debating buying a giant cat patch for a denim jacket. They are so cool. I want them all. The greetings cards are funny, shocking and perfect for any pal with a sense of humour. They sell light boxes, neon signs and trinket holders in weird shapes. What's not to love. Every single thing in this store is so damn cute, including the owner. She was funny, had great conversation and told us lots about the makers and various store items. Yes I was in a rush, and tried to pay but the staff manning the cashier is helping another customer. I asked for help from another staff but got ignored. Cashier gave me attitude and said they are understaffed. If you are a business delivering service, priority should be helping customers as this translates into business. Staff is not trained or not willing to multitask. My friend and I left the store fuming, mostly with the staff's attitude.

Their new space feels cozy but it larger than I expected it to be. It is bright and colourful, particularly in the juvenile section. Their focus is on graphic novels, comics, and manga andy do a great job choosing featured books to fit their community. They also sell a collection of action figures, toys, and games with something for everyone. I most recently visited on Free Comic Book day (first saturday in May!) and they did a great job making it a fun, engaging experience with artist guests and activities. There is plenty of parking and the place looked like brand new. All the products were well stocked and the facing was picture perfect. Almost to pretty to disrupt. The place wasn't too busy when I went there, so I was able to pick up a few items and was in and out of the store within 5 minutes. They recently opened and are located in a strip mall in the West End just off of Stony Plain Road. On a Saturday afternoon, it was quiet in the store and I was able to learn more about the product from the staff person working. All the products are made in Japan and are typically used in daily life of Japanese people. It would also be great for those who visited or lived there and might be looking for the products. There are different sections within the store. On the left near the front are the housewares including great cups that look like cupcakes. Near the entrance there's a table full of colourful cloths which could be used as tablecloths, framed as art, or hung as a banner. Towards the back, there are coasters, printed toilet paper, small gym bags for a water bottle and towel, and there's an assortment of pens and highlighters. They have eraser on them! What a great idea and I picked one up to use when I write cards and make a mistake. Along the back wall are purses and bags, sandal socks (love the sushi ones), sandals, and kimonos. By the right wall are items for decorating the home including paper art that seems delicate but when water is added, they can be stuck on windows and reused! The store also carries earrings, masking tape, stationary including notebooks, medicine bags that I'll use to carry my jewelry when I travel, make up bags, coin purses, stamps, and stickers. I really enjoyed learning about the products from the staff, and picked up a gift and cool items for me too!
