Where do I even begin????? Holly and her team are INCREDIBLE. I worked closely with Holly in the months leading up to my wedding and she was quick to respond to emails, texts and phone calls and always put my needs first. A few days before my wedding, I had the normal pre-wedding jitters and was very emotional and had a lot of anxiety, and I texted Holly asking for some advice, and she called me right away (it was 8:30 at night!!) and she was so sweet and talked me through how I had absolutely nothing to worry about, she has my back, and my day would be perfect! HOLLY! = WONDERFUL! Best investment we made for our New Years Eve Wedding 12.31.17! In short, we had a relatively quick engagement. July-Dec 31. (5 months). EEkKKK! I am a nurse & was recently hired on for two new jobs. Therefore, I had limited time to do the "heavy lifting." (Picking out vendors DJ, Floral, Transportation, Make-up Team, etc.) We already had the venue but I needed someone to steer the way for me! Timelines, Deadlines, Payments, Scheduling, picking trusty vendors, etc. (Esp since we were married on a holiday). Holly truly has the most WONDERFUL PICK of 805, 301, 818 Vendors! EVERY single company she recommended was WONDERFUL! They were so easy to work with, kind, happy, made my experience so fun. Additionally, I am an extremely detailed person. Therefore, I liked holding the reins for things like invitations, specialty napkins, cups, New Years Eve Garb, specialty desserts, cake topper, our photo booth, meals, etc. However, when it comes to hosting a 170+ party you REALLY need someone who understands your vision, thinks 5 steps ahead of you, and can handle LOTS of personalities, drunks, and possible chaos! As the BRIDE, I can truly say she kept ALL of the craziness away from me & executed EVERYTHING I organized for her. (And trust me, it was a lot of stuff!) Part of me hesitates writing a review since I did not personally hire Holly. But I did attend a rehearsal and wedding organized by her, and more than a handful of unfavorable interactions have inspired me to write about my experience, as a guest and someone in the wedding party. First, there was never a friendly, calm or even positive air about her. I have worked in television production for 15 years and I can see the mark of a true pro (I liken wedding coordinating to making television) - it's all a matter of organization, staying cool and keeping everyone happy. Watching Holly do her job had me cringing. I also felt sorry for the bride, who may have been unaware as she was in her own world of stress and excitement, but I chatted with several people who had the same reaction. She made us uncomfortable. After Holly literally screamed with irritation at the wedding rehearsal, without even once trying to get everyone's attention in a professional way, I took notice. Following that, she was shockingly rude when I asked a question about scheduling. I realized she was just not the kind of person that handles pressure well, so I decided to stay out of her way. But then there was in incident during photos on wedding day, where again she seamed stressed and uncontrollably irritated. Never a "Hello, y'all look great! You'll be waiting over here..." that seems so far fetched, but something I would expect out of my wedding coordinator. At least a "Hello. Any questions about today?" would have been professional. That's beyond her ability. There were a couple other incidents post ceremony that I noticed. Like standing in front of a bunch of guests (many of whom were children) during the cake cutting. Literally, walking into the scene and standing IN FRONT OF FAMILY MEMBERS when there was plenty of room on the side, where I was standing. Why wouldn't she look around and notice something like that?! But that wraps up her persona in a nutshell - she is overwhelmed with her tasks and consequently inconsiderate. That said, and because I believe in the goodness of people, I hope she improves as she matures. I hope she realizes that a wedding is something so many people will remember, not just the bride and groom. Her job is not just about avoiding mistakes like the flowers being late or the linens showing up wrinkled. Everyone deserves a positive experience when attending a wedding - and that should include a pleasant wedding coordinator. read more

Holly was one of the best investments that we made for our wedding. She made planning a wedding from out of town as easy as it could have been. As big time procrastinators, Holly kept us on the ball and made sure we had everything covered that we never would have thought to have on our own. She is super personable and organized. She is straight-forward when expectations are unrealistic, and is full of suggestions to help pull off your ideas. She executed our semi-DIY reception perfectly --- even our Korean Tea Ceremony! The day of the wedding went so smoothly, and she made sure that we didn't have to worry about at thing. Her assistants were also amazing as well. I cannot praise Holly enough! She was incredible to work with on every level. My husband and I got married at Newhall Mansion where they require a Day-Of-Coordinator. THANK GOD they do and that we found Holly because we couldn't have pulled this day together without her. From our initial meeting up until the very last moment, Holly was super transparent and communicative with us. She is incredibly organized down to every last detail, which we really appreciated. Everything we forgot, she thought of and was one step ahead! It was such a relief having her with us on the day of our wedding. This is a woman who definitely loves what she does, and it shows. We found her online and honestly didn't know much about her before hiring Holly. She not only went above and beyond our expectations, but she is also super cool, open-minded and fun! We loved her. I know, for sure, there were some issues with flowers (I did my own)... last minute details that I, the bride, left unfinished... little knick knack problems that Holly totally maneuvered through with ease and let me feel as if the day was perfect. We were married this August at the Adamson House in Malibu and Holly did an amazing job at our wedding. She was organized, efficient and knowledgeable. HIRE HER!!! HIRE HER!!! HIRE HER!!! I hired Holly through a referral to be my day of coordinator for my recent wedding. The quality of work that she put forth, her effortless understanding of what it is that I wanted (even though I changed my mind daily), and the extent to which she was available for me was more than I could have ever hoped for! Holly was exceptional in all the planning leading up to the wedding. She was in constant contact with me about set up, theme, vendors, who she talked to and the conversations between them so that I knew everyone was on the same page. The extent of her work ethic was further proven when I showed up to the venue and she had beaten me there for set up and was inventorying the items delivered by the vendors, making the ceremony site was set up how I wanted it and all the while doing it in 95 degree weather. She organized all of the decorations we brought for our mostly DIY wedding and had them all set up exactly like we had discussed! The day of the wedding she and her assistant had the tables set up exactly how I had imagined them in my head, every sign was placed correctly, the decorations were perfect, the gift table and entry looked better than I had imagined, she organized the servers and bartenders to make sure they understood their responsibilities and what they needed to do, and she kept us on schedule all the time checking in with me to make sure that I was eating or had drank something and if I needed anything... Holly made my wedding go so smoothly. I found out the next day that there were a few issues that had come up the night before with the venue that she had totally taken care of and I had no idea on my wedding night! The end of the night quickly came and we were not ready to end and Holly handled extending their contracts. I am definitely can be a control freak but Holly made me feel so comfortable. My favorite thing about Paper Heart Events and specifically Holly was that I never once worried or second guessed that everything was going to get done and that it was going to be exactly like I wanted. Holly Orr was the LIFESAVER of our wedding. If it wasn't for her our wedding wouldn't have run as smoothly and as wonderfully as it did. I was looking for a day of wedding coordinator when I was introduced to Holly. I only had a few weeks before the our big day and I literally dumped all of my planning, notes, ideas and vendors lists into her lap and said take over and she did. Everything I needed was taken care of and she went above and beyond to make sure that is was. In fact we were texting at midnight before the wedding when I had a question and I thought no way would she answer and to my surprise and relief she did. Holly Orr (Paper Heart Events owner) is amazing! My wife and I got married at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu this past spring. We found that Holly was easily one of the best investments we made for the wedding. This is coming from two people who initially weren't convinced we even wanted a coordinator. We had to get one because it was mandated by our venue. Luckily, we found Holly and have no idea what we would have done without her. She is supremely organized and knowledgeable both about weddings in general, and with respect to details on mine and my wife's wedding. We don't consider ourselves to be high-maintenance, but our event did require a lot of attention to detail due to a number of moving pieces, such as several large scale DIY projects. Holly took detailed notes, and our wedding went off without a hitch! She was also incredible resource in finding fantastic vendors (Photographer, Officiant, etc) and even saved us a little money by helping us negotiate venue fees. She went above and beyond, going out of her way to pick up items at my Mother-In-Laws house to store before the wedding. She even provided a couple of her own items to help with decor we didn't think to get. Perhaps one of the most important ways she (and her wonderful assistants) helped us, was in making sure we were present and got to experience our own wedding. We've heard from so many other couples that they didn't get to experience their entire wedding because they got distracted or forgot certain things, etc. Holly made sure we got fully fed, got photos with everyone at our reception and ceremony, time on the dancefloor, and time alone to reflect on our night, all the while making sure our guests were having a blast too. In addition, we had a tight schedule and Holly did a great job of making sure we remained on time for everything, despite the wedding craziness. Holly was a spectacular wedding coordinator. In fact, our only regret about our wedding is that we didn't hire Holly sooner! She was so supportive, and so caring about our personalized needs. She was always on top of the details, and we felt totally taken care of before, during, and even after the wedding. Since our wedding two weeks ago, my husband and I have repeatedly said that Holly is the BEST investment we made during our wedding planning process. I literally don't know how to put into words the value of Holly's hard work before and during our special day. But I'll try! :) I was super questionable about hiring a wedding coordinator for our wedding. My husband and I are both in the hospitality industry and thought we might be able to find a friend or do all the planning ourselves. (That was naive of us) However, once I had my first conversation with Holly, I was sold. Not only is she super organized and detailed- oriented, she has a very specific method for how she creates a successful wedding for each couple. She gets to know the couple and their priorities for their wedding, giving her the ability to make any necessary decisions during the day of, so the couple will not be bothered and able to enjoy their experience. I booked Holly on 3/8/16 for my wedding in May after being instructed I had to have a coordinator by my venue. Five days later the venue that had instructed me to hire her poisoned me quite terribly leaving me no decision than to get out of that contract. I hadn't even met Holly yet and didn't see any issues with her refunding the deposit. My wedding was on a Thursday, so I know she didn't turn business away. We hadn't even had an initial meeting and it was less than a week between our first conversation and me backing out due to this horrible mess. Holly was the ONLY vendor to show zero sympathy and quite simply said it was a 'non-refundable deposit'. Every other company completely understood and were horrified by the whole situation. I have worked in business for over a decade and there is an element of humanity that comes into being a business owner. She doesn't have it. Karma sucks Holly, your approach was distasteful and I urge you to remember your morals and not just your terms of business. read more
