I was initially hesitant to contact Paper Moon for an estimate on a painting/wallpaper job we wanted to do in preparation of selling our home. The work on their website is so stunning, I didn't think we could afford them! I was shocked when not only were their prices reasonable for the scope of work, they were actually the least expensive bid (by a lot)! We had our primary bath and closet painted, followed by wallpaper on one wall and the barrel ceiling as well as wallpaper in the powder room. The pictures don't do it justice. Not only did Juan and Marcos do an astonishing job of smoothing the walls (they were heavily textured), Juan was kind enough to match the paper for a trim ring going up with a new light fixture. The powder room was beautifully done and I can't find a seam anywhere! Our home was treated with respect, and is probably cleaner than when they started...lol! In regards to the painting, Eric was absolutely meticulous in his work. If you've ever painted on textured walls, you know how hard it is to cut in and achieve a straight line. He performed what is, by far, the best paint job I've ever seen. If you've made it this far, let me finish by saying that if you are looking for high quality work, you shouldn't consider anyone else. Paper Moon Painting is a very professional, friendly, and provides a quality service. We recently moved to San Antonio and needed to redo the kitchen. We decided to paint the cabinets instead of replacing them as they were beautiful wood cabinets that just needed some updating. We researched cabinet painters and decided on Paper Moon due to other customers reviews and pictures of their work but were still hesitant as we are new to the area. We called and scheduled a consult and had Rob come out see what could be done. He was energetic, friendly and very knowledgeable about what we would need to do. He explained the whole process from being to end and made us feel more comfortable about our decision to repaint the cabinets. Next step was we had an appointment with a Paper Moon Color Consultant who came to the house. She was delightful and worked with us to find the right color for our cabinets. She took the time to go over many different color samples to ensure we were both satisfied with our decision. Painting the Cabinets: Employees - Dwayne and his partner were AWESOME! I have never worked with a more professional team on any home repair in my life. They were unbelievably respectful to our home, stopped what they were doing to answer any/all of our questions throughout the week long job. Corrected any issues we had with the work being done. "No" is not in their vocabulary! They found a way to say yes to our requests and made it happen. Cabinets: The prep work is a big portion of the first few days ( laying the paper on the floors, counters, plastic over appliances, etc.) painting went relatively fast. The only negative I would say is the paint is VERY strong smelling and even with the area being contained it lingers and was very pungent. I would recommend asking them to bring an additional/multiple air scrubber(s) to help tamp down the strong smell right after the paint. Clean up: they did a great job of putting our home back to the clean state it was after they finished the job. Removing any bleed over paint from surfaces, etc. An example of how they do not leave the job without putting things back as the were, paint had pulled off the wall where they had tapped off. Instead of leaving it, Dwayne got a wall paint sample and went and got the paint to touch up the areas that had been taken off from the taping. Great attention to detail! I would highly recommend this company for Cabinet Paint. If we decide to do other painting in our home, Paper Moon Panting will be our first call. A couple of years ago they painted our kitchen cabinets - at a fraction of the cost of new - and they look like they were factory painted. I had a horrible experience with this company and would not recommend them. Their color consultant is not trained for this job, and comes across as a know-it-all and I was a sucker for it...I should have trusted my instincts. But I kept telling myself this company is Big and they must know what they're doing w/2 locations. Their sale pitch is that they provide in-house color consultant, they recommend their clients take this advantage. I've had another paint company telling me the opposite of what paper moon designer recommended while she's at my house. I've had a few tiles installers telling me their thoughts regarding painting my cabinets and walls. I've had realtors telling me what's in style and cool looking for cabinets and walls. An electrician agreed to what so many people have said regarding what's hip/cool out there. I've been to numerous open house ranging from 1.5M to 9.5M yet I decided paper moon must be correct. The only person who disagree w/my thoughts is this company designer and it was a disaster. I called, told them my concerns, the designer came out and I confronted her about what she said during our meeting but she's a smarty-pants... she has an answer to everything. She said my house is not modern so I can't have anything that's shiny as images from a 5 million dollar cape cod house in Houston when I show the images to her. It's clear she's not up to date with today's style....IT'S SHINY AND HONED, a combination unlike the 80's and 90's where everything is shiny and the early 2000's to 2015 where everything is honed. During our color consultation, she said I've to stay with everything being flat (satin finishes) to keep up with the theme. Yet, she knew I wanted her company to pimp my bar as the TV show pimp my ride. She said I've to paint my cabinets the same color as the baseboard & door trim because they're connected to each other, touching each other. She said my half bath color should match the door trim when I suggested a light grey as so many people told me I should consider based on my floor. I have asked her if she is sure about all of her choices and she said she went to school for this and that she's been doing this for years. I was skeptical and had suggested light grey, light blue, light brown, etc and I told her I plan to sell my house and just wanted this done correctly. She said to be safe its best to stay with white/cream for all my ideas. Safe?...But is it correct? This thinking is not correct because new homes by builders are being painted in colors. Their designer told me all her clients who didn't take her advice ended up repainted after the fact and it cost them more at the end. When asked to doing everything over the way I wanted, she said I would have to pay for it again yet another employee said they'll do it over free of charge. I told her I'm done with her and that if I'm going to have it fix for another fee, it's going to be with another company that knows what they're doing. I told her to go ahead and process my credit for the work that's done and get out of my house. To start, Paper Moon was on time, delivered as described, very courtious, and cleaned up everyday after work. But the real story is, they were amazing to work with. My kitchen job was unusual, and they worked with me on every little detail. They delivered an amazing final product. Noel the senior painter was a joy to work with everyday, and Megan the project manager checked in regularly to make sure I knew when people were coming to the house, and to make sure I was happy with the process. Contacted before the new year in hopes of updating my home before a party. I knew I was talking a change, but I spoke with Sarah. She was happy to help me. I received a quote within the agreed timed. What's disappointing is that wasn't my first time contacting papermoon. I scheduled a virtual consultation and it was a no show. I contacted customer service and was told I "scheduled wrong". Not sure how me scheduling "wrong" resulting in NO call back at all. I only gave a second chance because my interior designer recommended this company for a project in my home. Wallpaper and paint. Recently hired Paper Moon to paint my rental property after my tenants move out and as I was prepping to put the home up for rent. I REGRET having chosen Paper Moon and should have gone with the other company (despite the $3000 price difference -- Paper Moon was cheaper). They did a mediocre job, at best. But, as the old adage states, "You get what you paid for." They painted over nails, forgot to paint certain areas (behind doors or between walls), the pain dripped onto the baseboards, some areas were clearly not prepped (they said they applied two coats and I have a hard time believe that to be true in some areas!). They were supposed to retexture some parts of walls which had to be repaired, and their work was horrendous. When I spoke with Mr. Moon (who always remained seemingly amiable), he mentioned that they typically work on million dollar homes. I shared that I knew this and that this was why I had chosen them, thinking that they would bring that level of professionalism and detailed work to this job on a property worth a quarter of a million dollars. This did not happen. To boot, they didn't show up on the Monday they were supposed to come, and they called me at 8:30am (the time we were scheduled to meet) to tell me they wouldn't be able to come due to car trouble (Monday after Easter). They also were supposed to sand down the stairs and restain the stairs. It is clear that they not only did NOT sand down the stairs, but they also applied stain over dirt and rocks (which I noticed when I was cleaning the stairs a few weeks ago!!) Ultimately my overall assessment is this: The good = Their administrative assistant who is the sweetest and most patient young woman; The bad = the miscommunication between the owner and his own employees and the lack of quality to their work. This company is as vulnerable as their weakest employees -- the painters. They left my property dirty (drywall all over the floor) and, to boot, they walked off with our brand new drop cloths which we had purchased for a separate project; they also used up all of our own painter's tape. (Additionally, they clogged up all three toilets! I had to unclog all three toilets that week). Hands down, this was a miserable experience and I just wanted it to end. What Paper Moon missed is this: Yes, this is a rental property, but I love this home and I expect a level of detail with every job, especially painting. I will NEVER work with this company again, and I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone I care about....unless they own a million dollar home. We love our house but we weren't crazy about our heavy dark north facing kitchen cabinets. Yet...we were incredibly leary about selecting just anyone to repaint our kitchen cabinets. We knew we wanted white cabinets but with so many shades of white the entire process seemed daunting. In addition, our concern was the quality of work. After browsing the internet and reading the various testimonials, we went with our 1st instinct and chose Paper Moon. Check out their website, they are even featured on Houzz.com. When we set up the initial consultation, we met with Peter Moon and he explained the entire preparation process and duration of the project based on the number of cabinets to be painted. Peter was pleasant and thorough of what we were to expect. An unexpected perk was that Paper Moon had an interior designer Julie Risman over to help us select the perfect white paint. The project started on schedule and was finished on time. Cris and Jonathan the painters assigned to the project were always cordial, accommodating and courteous.
