The woman at the front desk told me my surgery date and time, and also wrote it down on their business card. A few weeks later, I inquired about an earlier surgery date as I may be out of town. She informed me that none were available and recommended that I keep the appointment so as not to lose the spot. In the event I absolutely could not keep the appointment she recommended that I call back 24 hours in advance. One business day prior to my appointment I called to request a prescription for an anti anxiety medication for the day of the procedure, as I was going to be awake for its duration and my anxiety was already building. I was rudely informed that not only did I cancel my appointment online, but the appointment was moved! I was appalled and informed her that none of that was true and due to the confusion I wouldn't trust having a procedure with them. The manager called ten minutes later attempting to offer service recovery but stuck to the script that I had the wrong appointment date. I have since emailed them a photo of their business card with the hand written appointment date by their staff member and reiterated how reprehensible their service is. Off to Penn it is...

I was a patient of Dr. Chi's from May '2023 thru December '24. I paid her $36,000 to provide a…read moresinus augmentation and then to place five implants in my upper jaw as part of an "All on Five" permanent denture. The denture portion was done by Dr. Bryan Katz at Corner Dentistry. Including Dr. Katz's $15,000 fee, the total cost was $51,000. Before I proceed with what I feel is a long but a necessary narrative to explain my poor review, I will say that Dr. Chi seems to be a fairly decent person, as is her staff. The office is bright and pleasant, and the facilities are clean. However, I had a very bad and upsetting experience with her. It began with suspect procedural decisions made at the start, that resulted in unnecessarily extending the duration of my procedure with resulting pain and suffering for myself. Dr. Chi typically offered very confusing and/or contradictory post-op instructions to what was provided in writing. I developed a very strong lack of confidence in the experience level and/or training of most of her very noticeably young staff. Dr. Chi's more than occasional confrontational tone was disturbing, and most upsetting...her near complete tone deafness for my frustration and upset. I also feel she has a pronounced lack of empathy or understanding of the perspective of the patient sitting in the chair. In my case, the implant that was placed in the synthetic bone (every other Oral Surgeon that I consulted with advised that they only use the patient's own bone as it is far less likely to reject the implant) did in fact fail. This was only found out after 14 months and mere weeks before Dr. Katz was to install the permanent denture device. At that appointment, which I assumed would take a few minutes, it ended up being a very painful, confusing and very upsetting two hours. After enduring that with no explanation as to why it was happening, Dr. Chi came into the examining room after reviewing the radiograph of my jaw. I assumed it would be a professional delivery of bad news. It was anything but. Dr. Chi came in and without acknowledging me, proceeded to run around the room, repeating "This never happens to me!!" and "I don't know why this happened!!!??". I was stunned, offended and very angry. To the point where when she stepped out, I asked the assistant if I was actually hearing and experiencing what I was. To add insult to injury, upon checking out, the office manager cavalierly told me that I needed to schedule an appointment to come back in for another round of placing bone and then placing the implant again. I was told with no empathy, no apology, that it would be another year. I never received an apology from anyone. I decided that I did not want to endure another 12 months and asked the team if it could work with the four implants that took. This turned out to be true and after a final check up with Dr. Chi, Dr. Katz installed the device in late December. Without asking, Dr. Katz provided me with an appropriate refund given the smaller device. I reviewed Dr. Chi's $36000 bill and concluded that a fair reimbursement to me would be $10,000, $7000 for the failed implant (the averaged cost of five) and $3000 for the first surgery for the synthetic build-up, which failed. I presented what I felt was this fair settlement to Dr. Chi, who did not agree with me and felt only that it was appropriate to offset any remaining balance I had by reducing it by $1600, cost of the failed implant. This was entirely not acceptable to me. I am not litigious, but $10,000 is not a small amount of money, nor is the $36000 I had paid Dr. Chi. I consulted with a lawyer who feels that should I pursue a lawsuit with Dr. Chi, I could reasonably expect to win the case, securing in the area of $200,000 in pain and suffering. I relayed this to Dr. Chi, and she still declined to do the right thing. At this point in my life, I don't imagine that I care enough about money to pursue a lawsuit. But what I can do is provide this scathing review and strongly advise anyone considering Dr. Chi to go elsewhere.

The accident was traumatic enough, but then entrusting my mouth to a complete stranger was almost as distressing. Enter Dr. Chi....I was referred to her by my dentist, Dr. Eric Cantor, with whom I'm relatively new. The confidence inspired from reading of her incredible credentials (she holds DMD, MSEd, and MD degrees), then experiencing her calming bedside manner, cannot be understated. My biggest concern was being numb enough so that I felt no pain (many patients choose IV sedation for this procedure, but I chose to be awake.) From the moment I sat in her chair, Dr. Chi put me at ease with conversation. Despite her advanced degrees and experience, she was a real person, putting me at ease with talk of her children. Throughout the whole procedure, Dr. Chi confirmed that I was comfortable. Fast forward a week -- I have stitches above the implant site that will be removed, and following Dr. Chi's explicit directions, I have neither swelling nor pain. Dr. Chi is superb, so if you find yourself in need of oral surgery, don't hesitate to use her!

Despite having a referral from my PCP on file, a paper referral from my dentist, insurance, and significant pain symptoms, I was told the doctor would not see me. Do not go here if you want compassionate care - they do not care. It seems the issue was that I did not have a paper copy of my referral form. This, as I explained, was an oversight due to other ongoing medical problems; I had left the referral at home. In the week before the consult, I also had another medical issue, resulting in my undergoing emergency surgery for a serious torsion. For the entire week prior to my appointment, I had been in bed recovering. The Monday of my appointment was my first day back in the office since the surgery. Realistically, I probably should have taken a few more days to rest, but because of the pain in my mouth, I wanted to get my extraction scheduled. Unfortunately, because of the pain, I opted to use a different backpack that better distributed the weight and was more comfortable to walk with post-op. I forgot that I had my paper referral tucked away in my usual backpack. Now, I realized I'd left this referral at home prior to my appointment. But I didn't think I'd be able to make it home in time, because of the aforementioned mobility issues after my surgery. So I tried calling the office to inquire what I should do, only to not get a response - the entire office was at lunch and not answering calls. Instead, I was directed to an answering service, and assured they'd call me back. Needless to say, they never did. Since I was in a lot of pain, I figured I'd go over anyways. I figured, it's literally just a consult, and I can send them the referral this afternoon. Plus, I had a referral on file from my PCP. But, apparently, none of this mattered. Rather than honoring my appointment, I was very rudely told that my ongoing pain was irrelevant, and that no one could see me for my consult without a paper copy of the referral. I tried explaining that I had a copy of the referral at home, and the reason I didn't have it with me, but to no avail. All I wanted was to get the surgery for my two impacted wisdom teeth scheduled. I had a PCP referral on record, and had the appointment scheduled for weeks. But now, I'm back at square one, still in pain, and wondering where I can go to get something resembling compassionate care. Because it certainly is NOT PAOMS. Tl;dr - if you want someone who actually cares about people, do not go to this office. They are uncaring and rude.

The people on the phone were always nice but I usually had to call for days before I could finally get ahold of someone. Also they had alternating information, I couldn't get concrete information on the cost and timing etc. Additionally the doctor is in such a rush that they brush of your concerns. I asked to be provided with aftercare instructions ahead of my surgery and they kept insisting they would tell the other person with me after my procedure. No unacceptable I deserve to have that information ahead of a procedure even if I have another person with me. I prefer to be fully informed on my care ahead of anything. But instead of informing me that, they shut me down. One of the times I got ahold of someone on the phone I was able to have them send me the instructions. I shouldn't have had to repeatedly ask to be provided this information. Overall I just wouldn't recommend if you want to feel heard or like you matter. If you are just looking to quickly pay for a procedure and get it done then this is the place. As money seems the be the only things they really care about. Actually it won't be quick either as they are impossible to get on the phone but atleast you might get it done ‍

Leading up to the appointment, I received text reminders as well. For a small business, they are very tech savvy. During my checkup, Dr. Liu sat there and looked at every single one of my teeth with me, top to bottom, front to back, talking about the health status of each of them. His hygienists were booked up that day, and I guess I hadn't made it clear when scheduling that I wanted a cleaning. So instead of making me come in again separately, he did my cleaning himself. He said it wasn't something he usually did, but he wouldn't mind this time. For a doctor to not be beyond rolling up his sleeves and helping out with the grunt work when needed, to me, is representative of a truly good professional who has his patients on his mind. I really respect that. I'll be returning. Would highly recommend this place.
