I moved this past weekend and hired Bookstore Movers for the job. I can honestly say I was blown…read moreaway by the professionalism, efficiency, and expertise of the moving crew. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE--moving nightmare!…read more My spouse and I hired Interstate Moving Company as a broker, and they subcontracted our move to Zip Moving and Storage. We were repeatedly promised a fast delivery, with an estimated arrival the day after pickup. The movers arrived in a rented Enterprise truck with only one professional mover doing most of the labor, assisted by what appeared to be his underage son, so my husband had to help load much of our furniture himself. We are paying close to $6K for this move. Despite this disorganized setup, both companies continued assuring us that delivery would still happen the next day. After the pickup day, howver, communication became inconsistent and misleading. We later learned our belongings were not even placed on a delivery schedule, and after days without updates, we were given a delivery date 15 days later that was THEN canceled due to an alleged truck mechanical issue. (Mind you, again, they had simply rented a truck and could easily get another.) The companies have repeatedly failed to provide clear information about where our belongings are located, when they will actually be delivered, or why another truck cannot be used to complete the move. We have now been without our belongings for over two weeks and were forced to stay with family in another state because we had none of the essentials needed to live in our new home. This situation has been especially distressing because I am pregnant and have severe asthma, and some of my emergency medications were packed in the shipment after we were assured of a rapid delivery. Overall, the experience has been incredibly stressful, unprofessional, and misleading, and I would strongly caution others before using either Interstate Moving Company or Zip Moving and Storage. We have had to file a federal report against both companies.

As this was unavoidable, I got on the hunt for a reputable, highly recommended moving company. And I was super duper happy to find A Few Good College Men. Their communication was great, the charges were clearly laid out, they arrived on time, and most importantly took the utmost care with my belongs and furniture. Clearly they have been in the business for a while, because the truck was loaded so intricately and with a lot of care. We had two stops - the first to drop off stuff to the house and the next to the storage unit. With both stops - I was really impressed with the professionalism. All in all, my husband and I both agree that they were excellent value for money; and I really felt peace of mind throughout the moving process! I had one issue with the frankly crappy reassembly of my captain's bed. When the movers left, the bed was bowed, drawers would not close completely and the slats were falling out or not fitting in at all. I reported the problem to Serena and it was corrected promptly. A crew came and reassembled the bed to eliminate the problems. Finally, Serena is the best. She is responsive, knowledgeable, friendly and very easy to work with. They wrapped his things up and provided furniture covers before putting his things into the truck. We met them at his storage unit and when we thought the storage unit would be too small, they looked it over and said they could fit everything. They meticulously maneuvered everything into our unit and got it all to fit! Because of this, they saved us from having to pay more money for a larger unit. While the crew arrived on time, there were only three movers instead of the four that were expected. I was then charged an additional $120 for an extra hour. One of the movers openly admitted that he had been out all night and was exhausted, which was evident in his performance throughout the move. The most frustrating part is that I moved into a brand-new construction home, and the movers caused significant damage. They put holes in my walls and scratched my stairs. I understand that minor scuffs can happen during a move, but these were deep gashes and holes that require repair. Before the crew left, I brought the damage to the attention of the lead mover. He told me not to worry and said I could file a claim using the claim number on my receipt. Since then, I have called multiple times and have not received a single callback. The only person I have been able to reach says she is in sales and cannot help me. No one has contacted me, and no repairs have been made. The lack of accountability and customer service has been extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend District Relocators and would strongly advise others to consider a different moving company
