Giving 3 stars because the guys who came were great, friendly and efficient, but the owner did not honor his word when it came to final payment. I originally requested 3 movers, which would have sped up the time and cost me less money. The owner called me the day of the move and said they were down a guy, and I told him it is not my responsibility that there were fewer movers, and that I hoped I would not be charged extra for that inconvenience. Engaged the business through the owner one Mr. Ali. Agreed on a flat fee and 2 days for the move (Dec. 28/29). Got a call from Mr. Ali on the first day of the move, asking if I could pay him the whole amount in addition to the deposit already made. I declined his request but paid him half the amount in good faith. His crew showed up on the first day but on the second day, mid way through the move he sent them home asking if they could come back the following week to complete the job. The hard working crew appeared shocked at the owner's decision. Needless to say, it was a breach of contract and totally unprofessional. Not only was he rude, he even had the nerve to ask if I could pay him the balance for a job he did not complete. The whole experience was quite stressful and left me with the unenviable task of having to find another mover in 24hrs and the attendant cost associated with it. I couldn't have been more pleased with the way my move went...the crew led by "Stas" from Estonia was extremely careful with my things, packed efficiently, and kept everything moving. They made what should be a stressful day into a very smooth, calm day. I was comfortable with the way they were handling my things. They took my stuff down from my condo to a storage unit. They handled every last item very well. Stas was conscious of time always. Additionally they get 10 stars for moving my QUEEN SLEEPER SOFA which is a beast...and took extra care not to damage any walls/edges in the house when they moved that beast. This April has been the first follow up from NYP since the incident occurred in Sept 2018. The foreman and his team didn't offer for a contractor to come fix the damage nor did a representative from NYP call me after the incident to address the incident at hand. All communication was done via the foreman relaying messages to me that he stated came from the person on the phone, which didn't mention any compensation or offers to repair the damage. The foreman did haul away the box spring without charging me since there was no place to put it, being as though it wouldn't go upstairs. I left this same response on the ThumbTack app after they finally replied there and the person responded last Friday stating that, "we will agree to disagree'. They wished me well and I did the same in an effort to move forward. I had to hire a contractor to come patch the hole at my expense. Had I been provided with the option from NYP (to repair it) I would have surely accepted as to avoid additional costs on my end. Based on your response things don't add up as well because if it was an issue of you all not being the blame why would you then offer to fix anything? All in all, this was months ago, the hole is repaired (not by NYP) and I would not use or recommend this company due to poor handling of this type of situation. On a positive note, the other two gentlemen were very friendly and courteous. I used the Thumbtack app to find movers and NYP Movers were highly recommended. Unfortunately my experience with them has been less than stellar. The 2 person crew showed up on time, but it was clear immediately that one of the guys was not interested in doing his job. He had no sense of urgency/care and moved extremely slow. He also continually kept dropping my things on the way to load the truck. It took them 3 hours just to load a one bedroom apartment into the truck despite me only having like 15 boxes and living room/bedroom furniture. The guy then proceeded to break one of my furniture pieces beyond repair by trying to strong arm it out of the truck. Overall it took them 4+ hours to move 1 mile up the road and a number of my furniture pieces have nics and scratches on them. I contacted the company about reimbursing me for the piece that was broken and I'm still waiting for the check that was sent 2 weeks later. Mind you they're located 30-45 minutes from me. read more

My experience with these movers was overall great. I found them on Thumbtack and after a few comparisons and a look at reviews, I went with them. They were very timely and informative of anything I needed to make my move go smoothly. Halfway through loading my things into the truck I was informed that it wouldn't all fit. Scary! But after talking to the owner, Ali, I was able to work out and negotiate another deal for a pickup 4 days later. The only problem I had was finding some scratches on my kitchen stove where they put a box and on a side of my bedroom furniture a couple weeks later. It started off good because the movers showed up on time. Then when getting to the destination only one of them could help move our belongings so my husband and I had to help the other mover. When opening the truck we seen that they had just thrown all of our belongings everywhere. They broke a $500 irreplaceable picture and our $3000 bedroom set due to carelessness. We have had to throw our bedroom set away do to missing parts an parts broken off of it. This set wasn't even 6 months old yet. Absolutely horrible service and even worse attitude. They literally dragged my mattress on the ground and then had the nerve to say "not a good mattress". I told them during the quote process that my mattress was very heavy! They damaged my sofa and denied it. When it comes time to pay expect a 5% extra charge if you're using credit card that they don't tell you about until the very end. One very respectful mover and the other was absolute trash! We had a two-man crew come and help us move from a 2-BR townhouse to a 3-BR standalone house. They showed up right on time in uniform and a marked truck and Daniel went ahead and walked through the house with us to see what they would be moving. He offered advice on wrapping and protecting certain items, but was in no way pushy. He and his partner (whose name I unfortunately didn't get!) then went to work right away, loading items quickly and efficiently into the truck. There was even a point where the truck was nearly full and we thought we may have to leave a piece behind and get it on a second trip (a large outdoor wooden porch swing), but the crew was able to disassemble a single leg and get it to fit in the truck! Once at the new house, they were very efficient in moving the pieces from the truck into the proper place in the house, making sure each item was going right where we wanted it. They were able to reassemble the wooden swing's leg with ease, and moved a very large sofa into the basement without much trouble. We had initially budgeted for 3 hours but it wound up being about 3.5 hours (through no fault of the crew - we just had more stuff than we thought!) and the crew worked diligently the entire time. When everything was off the truck and unpacked, Daniel went over the bill with us and then we were able to speak with Ali (the owner) to ensure that all services were to our satisfaction - a rare example of great customer service these days! Overall, a wonderful experience with a great company. They were timely, efficient, polite, and professional the entire time and the cost was very reasonable, especially for the quality of service we received. They are terrible. They lie about pricing and costs, move slow, and damaged almost every piece of furniture they touched. The movers started the clock and then took a 20 minute shit. They used 20+ rolls of tape when 6 would have sufficed. The job should have taken 3 hours and it took 6. When i tried to cancel the service after they showed up and tacked on a almost $200 "driving" charge, they guy gave me attitude on the phone and refused to give me my deposit back. Expensive wood furniture had chips and scratches all over, ruined. The mover smelled terrible to boot. I HATE this company. Their response to my complaint, "We apologize sir, for the strong , hetrosexual, male odor . However it occurs constantly while we perform our job under 90 degree heat in DC area. Regarding the cost, everything was discussed prior to the move numerous times. If you failed to remember , I can not help you here, but do recommend to consume fruit/vegetables to improve the brain functionality." The mover showed up smelling like garbage BTW and as you can see they are taking 0 responsibility for the damage to furniture and are rewriting history in the agreed upon charges. The quality of the move definitely depends on the crew they send. I have used them twice. The first I would rate 5/5, no issues and on-budget. The second time, this March, I would rate at zero stars. They spent 4 hours ($600, significantly over budget) to move my furniture and packed boxes into a new apartment within the same building, and the job was still incomplete. First, they asked where I wanted the boxes to go. I gave them several locations. They decided to put all of the boxes in the living room before they moved any furniture into the apartment. That meant none of my living room furniture could be placed properly. And what had been placed, I had to move to place my rug. There were 3 guys. They spent all their time arranging and rearranging items in the hallway. At 3 hours in, very little furniture had been moved into the new apartment. They placed furniture directly in front of electrical outlets, even when there was ample room on either side. They left my coffee table in the kitchen, sectional seats stacked on top of each other, shelves for shelving units stashed in random locations. They broke my $1,000 dresser. They told me that the problem was my entire apartment was slanted. Really, they placed the dresser on it's leg with it only partially screwed in. Before we started I told them Comcast was arriving that afternoon and we had to be done by then. As the Comcast arrival time came near, they were nowhere near done. I told them I needed to make space in front of the tv. I started unpacking and clearing space. As soon as I turned around, they placed completely random objects in the space I had just cleared. They spent too much time fooling around and not enough actually moving things into the apartment. There was no forethought or planning. I had to move every piece of furniture again after they left, including the bed. read more

They were courteous and worked quickly. The price is very affordable. They give discounts to repeat customers. Also very important, none of the furniture was ever damaged in two moves. NAME YOUR PRICE MOVERS.     Rating F OR NO STARS!!! These movers were completely duplicitous, lying, and cheating. So I am taking the time to review them and detail the experience. The move entailed the packing of a storage, 2 hour drive, and unloading. The quote was for $750. When the movers showed up they then showed a contract that included information that the cost would be computed by time. Nowhere on the quote is there any mention of cost of time. ( I would be willing to share copies of quote and contract to anyone wishing to further investigate this firm.) The movers arrived at storage unit and said it would take 1 hour to pack in truck. Moving slowly it took 1 hour and 45minutes. They were finished at 12 noon.They were not in rear view mirror as I left storage area. Took 2 hours to drive to PA, no traffic problems. The movers arrived at 3:45.  They unloaded at house as slowly as possible. Spilling one box on the ground with no apology or explanation.Thus a $750 move became $1350. This was a purposeful "gouge" and cheat. I would not recommend or advise using them for any move. Maybe a lack of customers will cause a change in their tactics. read more

I was prepared to give this a 5 star rating even though the below happened: -they broke the only nice piece of furniture i had -guy tripped and while bracing his fall made a hole in the wall of our new house Now we called the manager, Ali, that day and explained what happened. He apologized and said he would not charge us for the move because of the obvious inconveniences ( would have cost about $400) He would also send someone to fix the hole in the wall and repair at no cost to us (which happened with no issue). He would also file a claim with his insurance to pay back for the broken furniture. We aren't feeling great about the move because of said issues, but seems like it we will at least get our furniture reimbursed, or so we thought...I even tipped his guys $100 even after breaking furniture and making a hole in the wall because it seemed like everything would be made whole... Fast forward a few days. We ask about the status of the insurance claim. Owner says he will explain over phone. He says insurance company denied the claim ( we had the receipt of furniture to prove cost) because they could not prove it was broken by them. I ask for a copy of the denial. Ali doesn't want to provide. Red flags are starting to raise for me and I volunteer to help them with their insurance claim to confirm it was broken by moving company. Still no. Ali gets very aggressive when i ask why he wont let me help him with the claim he says because he "doesnt feel like it". You say you have insurance. If it doesnt cover this what the hell do you have it for. It wasnt even that expensive relatively speaking. He then starts to verbally BERATE me and accuse me of trying to shake him down. He then offers me a deal that since he didnt charge me for the move ( which was pretty close to the cost of the furniture ) that he'll cover the difference of $30. and tip money ($100). At this point i am done with the situation. I've never been berated like that before. Unreal. Probably the worst service i have ever received by any vendor in any line of work. Give me a break. Honestly i see your point about the cost of move being the same as cost of furniture but really, do you need to accuse your customer of trying to extort you? do you really need to berate them? Lots of ways to deal with the situation but those are not it. read more

EDIT: Ali (Owner) was kind enough to refund me for the extra unnecessary charges. I added three stars for his kindness and communication. Their 5% credit card fee needs to go. The biggest negative is the price overall. Moving is a very competitive market, and I didn't choose the cheapest because I thought the price would be near the price quoted and it would be faster than the last movers I used. I was wrong. I love giving 5-star reviews but being honest is more important and may save you in the future from making my same mistake. Cons: 1. Worst of all: 5% charge for credit cards. What year is it!? 2. They will charge you $10 (yes TEN dollars) to wrap each individual fragile (glass/screen/etc) item. I opted to just take them over in my car. SOLUTION: Movers should use blankets and tape. 3. Truck navigation took them a roundabout way, wasting 30 minutes. They followed me back the way I recommended and we saved 30 minutes on the way back. SOLUTION: Routes should be optimized beforehand. 4. Truck too small for my 1 bedroom rowhome. This caused the movers to make 2 extra trips back and forth, charging me for an extra hour. SOLUTION: They should have brought a bigger truck, or not charged me for the extra trips. Pros: 1. The gentlemen moving my belongings were extremely polite, very communicative, and highly efficient. Their efficiency translated to speed. They saved me $20 by removing the glass china cabinet doors and allowing me to take them with me in my car. They were understanding in the nickel and diming of items susceptible to shattering. 2. Ali is very polite as well, and made booking a breeze. I would be very happy to speak with Ali once more to change my review once he understands my issues. I was unnecessarily charged 1.5 hours extra for things outside of my control. I did not express these issues to the physical Movers themselves as they have no control over it. read more

From the initial call to discuss details to the actual move, Name Your Price (NYP) Movers was incredibly helpful. After contacting NYP through Thumbtack, Ali and I spoke over the phone to discuss details of the 2 movers, 17' foot truck, 3 hour proposal. When I inquired about an extra fee for stairs, Ali suggested having 3 movers instead of 2, and they could still do it within the 3 hour timeframe, which sounded good to me. He then sent over a detailed confirmation proposal that outlined their services, licenses, etc. and I paid a $50 deposit to confirm the move date. Closer to our move date, Ali called to confirm everything and ask if I needed any supplies. I said I didn't think so, but he told me that his staff would arrive, fully armed with supplies in case I change my mind. Luckily, they did indeed come with supplies because it turns out I did need them! I needed blankets for the wood furniture (free of charge), some plastic tape to tape the blankets in place, and then plastic wrap to cover up my white couch (four rolls of tape and wrap were pretty minimal in cost). Stas called me about an hour early to let me know that they were on their way and were running about 30 minutes behind, due to traffic, and I appreciated the notice. He arrived with his two colleagues, Larry and a another man (whose name I didn't catch, sorry!). They parked the truck, and we did a walk through of my condo and what needed to be wrapped, moved, etc. It took approximately an hour to wrap furniture, take apart my two beds (platform beds with all those slats and screws and one hydraulic lifting storage bed), and pack everything up in the truck. I don't know how they did it, but they got everything into that truck with plenty of room to spare! We drove over to my new home, and then did another quick walk through of the rooms, describing where the big things were going, as well as the garage, where I had a number of boxes we moved over ahead of time, that needed to be moved to their final rooms. Bless these guys, but they were so nice and professional, and moved every single thing where it had to go, despite the fact that we have four floors in our new home. They got everything moved into my new home, and the requisite furniture reassembled perfectly, and finished the entire process within three hours. I remember remarking that it was three hours, on the dot, while I was signing off on the work. I had previously been informed that I could pay the remainder of the work in cash, or there would be a nominal fee to pay with a credit card. I had every intention to get cash out, but I was busy packing and forgot. Of course, I had no idea beforehand that I would need some supplies either, so I wouldn't have had enough anyway. To pay via card, Stas called Ali to run my card, but fortunately, when I had originally paid the deposit online, I had opted to save my card info. Ali asked if I wanted to use the card saved, confirming the last 4 digits, and I did, so that made the process super quick and easy. I set up a move with Ali and explained to him that I was bidding on several pieces of furniture I needed to be moved from one location to another on a Sunday and he agreed to do the job - he also received pics of all the items so he knew exactly what I wanted moved. Only a 3 hour job and that included travel so not a huge job on a Sunday. Based on our agreement, I continued to bid on these auction items and then the Thursday before the Sunday, he backs out saying he just isn't going to make his guys work on Sunday. WTH? As a result of him breaking his agreement with me, all the money I have bid on the items are now at risk of being lost because now I have no one to move the items and they must be removed on Sunday. I would NEVER have bid up those items at the auction if I had known he was not going to keep his agreement with me. I am very disappointed. He seemed like such a nice person and I felt very comfortable with using this company but I warn anyone who schedules a move here, HAVE A BACKUP PLAN. I've never heard of movers that don't work weekends. He did offer to "refer" me to someone else but frankly, I'm not interested in working with another company that he recommends given this experience. I think what he did to me was extremely unprofessional and now as a result, I will probably lose all the money in the auction that I have already bid unless I can find someone to help me. I used NYPM on March 15, 2019. The movers arrive on time and we went over the items to be moved, the contracted quoted price of $525 and the Foreman ensure me that the job could definitely be completed within 3 hours. The movers appeared to not be trained well, as they were moving one box at a time, climbing on and off the truck instead of using the ramp attached to it and they moved extremely slow. During the move the Foreman kept telling me they would be done with no problem within the 3 hours. Not only were they not done, the truck wasn't big enough for all of my things, they made two trips and STILL left behind my son's bed base (only took the foot board and headboard) and his desk. While moving the items into the new home, they broke the doorbell shoving the couch through the door. Overall the move took almost 5 hours and I was told I needed to pay 787.50...well over the $525 I was quoted. The foreman apologized and told me that it took way too long, he spoke with Ali as did I and I was I was given a move discount. Before leaving, the foreman took pictures of the doorbell and ensured me I would get a call on Monday to resolve the problem. Well, here we are at Monday, March 18 and Ali states the discount was for the broken door bell, which is NOT true. I would not recommend NYPM because they of their bad business practices and business ethics. If you know you broke the doorbell and did not provide excellent, complete service, you should be willing to fix the mistakes. read more

Like a bull in a china store! Only 3 items to move, large bar, table and chairs and sofa. Every piece was damaged because nothing was wrapped in moving blankets. Ali promised they would be wrapped. I saw the items immediately in the truck upon arrival. Ali would only accept damage for the sofa. We provided proof of condition prior to the move and Ali would not accept it. Also damaged walls and scratched the floor. We refused to pay for the move and Ali refunded the deposit as compensation for the damage. Extremely poor business practice! read more

Name your price movers..more like pay for "every little thing" movers. I'm not even sure why they call themselves that. I did not see an option to name my price when I hired them to do some moving. Anyways, here's the story: Had these guys come to move couple of beds and chest of drawers and few boxes from house to new apartment. Started off great, they showed up before actual arrival time, which was bit hectic as we were still packing things but I figured its good we can get out of the house and not hit much traffic. I told the movers I will be back as I had to get some things (Moving is always so stressful), while my girlfriend was still packing. While on my way back I get a call from my girlfriend saying they are ready to leave and are rushing to get out of here. I told her to make sure everything was in the truck before they left and she had to run after them to make sure they do not leave as he almost drove away. I came home and found out bunch of the stuff I wanted in the truck wasn't in there. I called ALI and it was my word against his workers and he just kept saying, "what do you want me to say". How about sorry my movers were rushing you, and we should have done a better job, even while I'm telling him I'm just calling to voice my dissatisfaction and not pointing fingers, he kept saying your girlfriend is an adult she should've told them to stay longer or put things in the truck. I was frustrated already due to moving and I did not need movers (who i'm paying for, rushing us to get things done faster). I told ALI, I guess there's nothing you can do as you are not able to accept responsibilities for your workers and your company. I did not want to argue with him any longer as he kept telling us it was our responsibility to make sure everything was in the truck. I told him yes, you are right but WHY WAS MY GF BEING RUSHED WHILE I'M PAYING FOR YOUR SERVICES? She kept asking the guys to stay a little while so I can be home but they kept telling her that they needed to leave. (guess its still our fault as she is an 'adult') Moving on, after hanging up I just wanted to get things done and get things set up. They moved everything where it needed to be, they set up our bed and they were great in that part. Than it came time to pay, I was quoted $475 for 3 hours of work ($85/hour, $75 for travel and $3.5 per mile for 41 miles). I had paid $50 to book them for this day which was deductible during final payment. I ended up paying $765 for 4.9 hours they arrived at 2:30 and left at 7:20. So they charged me for almost 5 hours even though hour of that was for "travel" which was already included in the price, yet I'm still paying extra. So for that travel time, I paid $75 for Travel that was quoted and I paid extra $85 for labor hour. (Some bs, I know!) Also, that $50 that was "deductible" they put it back on the invoice saying its 5% fee if paying with credit card. So there was no deductible. They also charge for everything you have not bubble wrapped, no matter what it is. If its metal, they will put on a blanket and tape that and charge $5 per tape. Ali will tell you that they are NOTHING like their competitors as they will tell you everything upfront (which is true) but I would still not go with these guys again for any moving services. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Contacted them in May of 2021 for a mid-August move. Ben (VP of sales) came to my home for a walkthrough, took pictures and provided me with details about what a move with them would look like. After interviewing other moving companies only went with them b/c they offered storage services, along with the move. Signed a "contract" (well what I thought was a contract) early June for the August move. Yesterday (a week and a half before the scheduled move), Ali, the owner of the company, reached out and said that Ben made a mistake and mis-quoted the entire move. He said instead of taking 1 day, it would now take 2 (doubling the price) and also, they didn't have any storage for our items. When I asked about the contract I signed, he said, it wasn't a contract and that I had no recourse. When I asked why he didn't discover this "mis-quote" back in June when I signed the agreement he stated, he only checks these things 2 weeks before. So be warned, if you get a quote in advance, it cannot be trusted and there are NO guarantees of what you signed. If you ask me, they tried to pull the classic bait and switch, knowing that with only having a week and half to find another mover & storage it would be very difficult. I absolutely recommend Name Your Price Movers. They helped me move and everything was absolutely smooth and amazing. All interactions were professional, on email, phone, and in person. They arrived on time, took time to walk the house, and planned in an organized way how things were going to be placed in the truck. The employees were pleasant and work carefully but so so fast. I was amazed of how fast they neatly carried all the items and carefully loaded and unloaded the boxes, bags, and furniture. Although we did not have an elevator, they worked quickly but very safely. When they unloaded the truck, they placed all items in different rooms as directed, also when finished, they asked me to walk the house and let them know if there were any boxes or items I wanted them to move to a different area. My entire move was completed in 3 hours, including drive time to the new location. The price was fair and a bargain, for the quality of work this company provided. NYP Movers did not provide an accurate estimate for their services upfront. The move ended up costing double the original estimate, when I provided a detailed list of items to be moved (and their materials and dimensions), as well as photos, and logistics of the new condo (3rd floor walk up) several weeks ahead of time. I suspect no one at the company even read the email or looked at the photos. The movers arrived unaware of the details of the move, acted as though the move was an inconvenience every step of the way, and complained about the walk and stairs. They were not careful with boxes marked fragile (items arrived broken), taped across finished wood items and freshly painted doors, and haphazardly dumped packed and organized bags into larger boxes. My 65 and 67 immunocompromised parents ended up packing their car and my car, and helped lift additional boxes - they should not have had to touch a thing. We were told my house plants - which again were on the list of items to be moved - would die in the truck on the 30 minute drive from DC to Alexandria and that the movers did not want to move them. The 2 person team did not listen when I gave them directions on where to park per HOA guidelines and dumped all of my belongings onto the lawn of my new community. (Great start, hello neighbors!) I called the owner of the company mid move to voice my concern - he addressed one item - and was dismissive regarding the rest when I called a second time at the end of the move regarding my continued concern and frustration. I'll never use this company again. Terrible and disrespectful experience all around by both the movers and owner of the company. read more

The owner Ali sent three very nice and professional movers - Alex, Michael, and Daniel - to move me from my fourth floor apartment to a first floor loft across Baltimore. On the way down from my first apartment, they patiently helped me figure out how to operate my building's massive freight elevator. I was glad that they didn't become frustrated with it and had a good sense of humor about locating and moving the elevator. The guys were also patient with me as I told them where they could park their moving van in the city, where there isn't a lot of room for a truck to drive, let alone park. Most importantly, the loft I moved to is great, but has a very tricky spiral staircase leading to the bedrooms. The three guys did a wonderful job guiding each other up the stairs with my end table, dresser, and even my bed frame! They did all of this for me in very hot weather without sacrificing either time or professionalism. I will definitely call Name Your Price Movers again if I plan another move within the area. read more

If I could give this company a 0/5 rating I would. Even after explaining beforehand to the owner, Ali H., the list of items I wanted to be moved, the movers still showed up with a truck too small to carry everything. I wasn't paying for 2 separate trips, so I decided to move the rest of the items left behind on my own, which is an inconvenience if you're traveling a considerable distance away. My main complaint with this company is that my fairly new flat screen TV now has a cracked screen that has rendered it unfixable and unwatchable. I contacted the owner, Ali, and he was completely indifferent, unapologetic, and downright unprofessional when I brought this matter to his attention. He refused to take any responsibility for the damaged item which is truly baffling to me when his movers were the ones who wrapped and packaged the tv, transported the tv, and subsequently unloaded the tv to the new destination. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE THIS COMPANY FOR MOVING SERVICES AGAIN. If you value maintaining the integrity of your items, you won't either. read more

I'm highly satisfied with this company. In addition to the reasonable price, Yehor and Saad did an amazing job. They were nice, friendly, and were very careful handling our furniture. Oh and even tough I called them last minute they arrived on time. I highly recommend them! read more
