I felt like a kid at Chuck E Cheese's again (only without the creepy characters or crappy pizza). First off, walking in the door, I see a large Hungry Hungry Hippo game, one that we can sit on and control. I'm in. I'm ALL in!! But first, we went bowling. The bowling alleys are nicely kept, clean and updated. Shoes aren't nasty either. The fun display for the scoreboard kept me entertained, be sure and watch the cartoon pins egging you on. Loved it, and I didn't do half bad either! (I guess my Wii bowling has sharpened my skills? haha!) So after an hour of bowling we headed over to check out the rest of the games. There's Daytona racing where you can race each other from your own individual game/screen, there are all sorts of claw prize games and carnival style games, skee ball, air hockey, digital hunting, pinball, basketball, I mean so many games!! And, fortunately, there are no tokens here, instead you purchase a debit type card that is re-loadable and doesn't expire. You just take your game cards to the prize counter and pick you poison. Then keep the card for next time or give it to someone. Besides bowling and games, you can also go into the sports bar and grab some grub! Soups, salads, sliders, pizza, and so on. And this is not typical bowling alley food, it's a bit nicer than that. Compliment your food with some beer or wine and top it all off with dessert! Most main menu items are $10-15. Outside there is a mini golf course (Golfin' Dolphin), driving range, Go-Karts, and a Sky Trail to climb, swing, and explore. We didn't want to leave! We grabbed some cold drinks at the bar area and walked the pier for about 40 minutes then came back to wait inside. After 55 minutes we asked the hostess how much longer and she said there were 3 parties ahead of us. Odd that in almost an hour they only sat 3 tables? My husband and kids went outside for a bit and I noticed there had been 3-4 tables outside that had been empty since we were on the pier. I went back to the hostess (this was after well over an hour of waiting) and asked why the tables outside had been empty for so long with so many people waiting and we requested outside seating at checkin. She stated the cooking staff was overwhelmed so they were ALL taking a break. I have never in my life heard of such. If you cannot accommodate for the amount of tables you have in your restaurant you should NOT be in business. I also heard another hostess complaining after a lady asked about their table as well because it had been way past the what she was told. After the woman walked out due to the long wait I heard her say loudly "it's just an estimate, it's not a guaranteed time" with an attitude. I then asked if we could get a voucher for us paying for parking, since we only paid to eat there. She stated we'd get one after we ate. I said we are not eating now, we have waited close to an hour and half so we were leaving. She told me they couldn't give us a parking voucher because we hadn't eaten yet. We DID pay for drinks at the bar and waited an hour and half and were never seated, and had to pay for our wasted time (to park there) leaving with no service and empty stomachs. That has to be the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant anywhere. We own a vacation home in EI and that is the last time we'll ever visit that establishment again.

Tonight I went with the Asian Pork Belly, which is delicious. The spicy Korean BBQ sauce and kimchi really make the dish. Being able to try different brews without having to buy a pint is a real hit for me. I always do 8 oz glasses so I can try the different IPAs, lagers and other brews. I normally sit at the bar or outside, the waitstaff are pros and take care of me. Not too light and not too heavy. All in a great experience. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. We look forward to coming back to Circa 81 each time that we visit!

The Brussels were crispy and savory, and even the potstickers were a standout. Nothing felt like an afterthought. Service was perfect for the tapas setting too. Not rushed, we didn't feel over bothered, but not neglected either. Overall, it felt elevated but still comfortable. A great experience without feeling over the top. We'll definitely be back.
