We have been coming here since it opened and are part-timers in Salter Path. We see things come and go, and it has been really nice to have this place nearby. Pluses: the food is good, better than above-average, and a nice range of things to choose for the choosier in your crowd. Beer list is extensive, and you will always find something you like (even if you are sorta snobby about it like this reviewer). The view is unbeatable. Ignore the reviews about "going next door" if the view is on your list; Anchor has a large, open air "dock-like" patio. Not to dis "next door," but they shouldn't be compared as they are totally different. Go there too - you can probably visit both while here! Big bonus plus: ownership cares a lot about his business. He wants to know when there is an issue, will fix it, and constantly wants to improve - site, staff, food, everything. Down here, that is a blessing. We had an issue or two once and he took care of the bill, or one thing or another. He is also very nice, we have seen him out and about and he always recognizes people and shoots the breeze. If you have a problem, find him. Or contact him from their FB. My sense is that he is a man of action. Minuses: parking can get rough, especially during tourist time. Maybe walk there if you can. Staff can get dodgy but let's be straight - it's the beach. We don't always attract the same workers found in many hardworking parts of the country. Read into that what you may and it is amplified in the summer. Running a business down here is ridiculously difficult on that fact alone; you do everything to keep your best folks, but they also want to ramble on at some point. Good help is, in fact, hard to find. Also, the tourists can be a minus. If you are visiting here, remember that everyone wants you here and we want you happy. Try to not act entitled. Salter Path is exceedingly grateful you are here. We are a humble community navigating the same tough world as you. He seemed way more into giving his opinions and putting people in their place than actually making guests feel welcome. Parking lot is small, but works well during lunch hours. Seating can be a large problem if you are ordering more than 1-2 pizzas at the time. Service was a bit absent, but overall it was still a good experience. For the price and the beverage selections I think this place is well worth it. We are long-time customers and absolutely love Anchor Pizza in terms of food and location, but the current staff is very, very rude. Brandy (the manager?) basically refused to acknowledge us while there unless we hunted her down, and we waited for hours on our food. We've been coming here monthly for 4 years, but if the staff continues to act the way it has been as of late, we'll find elsewhere to dine. It's a shame... SO, the food was okay. Not the greatest, but not bad either. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza, a Supreme pizza, and Hot Tots as an appetizer. The appetizer came out last??? I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was tasty. The service was okay, besides the order of the food arriving. Again, not great, but not bad either. Usually we absolutely love coming here, it's one of our favorite places in Indian Beach, but today we had a different experience. Our server, Kim, blatantly ignored us and gave us the worst service we have ever had here. We waited at least 20 minutes to get checked on plus another 20 to get our waters. While she was checking on every other table, it took 10 minutes of flagging her down to give her our credit card after she gave us our check. She came back with our credit card without saying a word or looking us in the eye. We love Anchor and our pizza was incredible but we are very dissatisfied with our service tonight. read more

I had heard that this place had Trivia on Friday nights so we made plans to go (they don't currently due to staffing issues.) I also heard that the space was small and parking crowded so we went about 5:30 (the parking was limited since there are other busy restaurants in the area but we were able to park and were seated right away.) I was very excited when we asked for outdoor seating and we got an wonderful table with a stunning view! Our server was Sam and not only was he knowledgeable, he was also very pleasant and attentive. There were 4 of us and we got a wedge salad, mac and cheese bites, a 12" Carnivore and a 12" Supreme. The mac and cheese bites were the best thing I had all weekend. Piping hot, ooey-gooey cheese...SO DELICIOUS! The wedge salad was tasty as well. I was surprised to find that I enjoyed the Carnivore more than the Supreme. The peppers on the Supreme were sweet, which was slightly off-putting but maybe some like it. The crust was perfectly crunchy, not too thick and not too thin...it had a nice buttery taste. The tomato sauce was also flavorful without being sweet. I look forward to returning and trying some of the other pizzas (and getting more mac and cheese bites!!!) read more

Stopped in with family. Place is small and looks run down. The beer is cold but the pizza and wings basically taste like microwaved college dorm room food. Wasn't too busy but took forever for the food so I guess the microwave was being used for other things. Save tour money folks and just buy a Digorno and call it a night. Will not be back. read more

Was told I could not park at the crab shack and go to anchor Drafthouse for a beer... OR park at anchor draft house and eat at the crab shack after enjoying a craft beer?? .....so I parked at the Methodist Church(a neutral site), enjoyed 2 drafthouse beers on the sound and some great Crab Shack seafood. Come on guys...are you kidding me? Are you going to inflict this ridiculous punishment on your customers for the duration of the summer?? Get your act together and clear up this misunderstanding... The BEST pizza on the Emerald Isle! A true hidden gem. As far as pizzerias go; a solid 5 stars. We had their Mac and cheese bites and their cheesy garlic bread and 3 pizzas. Their pizza and cheesy garlic bread was freshly made. The crust is excellent. It is excellent what homemade pizza crust should taste like. I'm very fussy about sauce, especially after spending 2 weeks in Italy. Their sauce is great. These guys make a great pizza. I never thought I could get that in the US. Well done!!! The Mac and cheese bites were surprisingly good. That appetizer was more for the kids. Always try the cheese curds! I tried to order them but they were sold out. Frankly, you can never go wrong with those. Their service is quick and everyone is extremely friendly and polite. I briefly met the owner. He is just such a lovely person. He personally checked in with each of his customers to make sure everyone had what they needed and received their orders promptly. We were seated immediately. Our drink orders were taken promptly and were received them very quickly. We received our order food promptly. They are impressive. My kids and I had cheerwine for the first time. It was fantastic. It was the best cherry coke ever. It was so funny when we ordered it. One of our kids actually thought we were ordering him alcohol. We ordered 3 pizza for takeout one night and enjoyed soda on their dock with a fantastic view while we waited. That view is just breathtaking. The next night, my stepson and daughter ordered appetizers and cheerwine while enjoying the view. The seating on their dock with such a beautiful view cannot be emphasized enough. The staff did an excellent job sanitizing. The bathrooms were very clean. Everyone working wore masks. This will be our regular pizzeria when we visit Emerald Isle in the future. I hate to say that the primary reason we chose Anchor was because they had a parking lot, but that was a factor. This was our first time to Emerald Isle, and driving that whole long 35mph road up and down was a lot, so finding a nice place to stop was a huge bonus. Glad we made the stop! They herd you like cattle at this place! You'd think you're in a busy New York City diner, not a laid back vacation area in Crystal Coast, NC. We were having a drink at the bar area while waiting for a table. Literally four different employees came up to us asking if we want an outdoor table when we had clearly told the first person that we didn't want an outdoor table because there was a chance of rain. We ended up sitting inside and literally after just having a single slice of pizza each, our waitress asked us if we wanted a box. Like what, I'm still going to have another slice and obviously. Later when we were done eating, the waitress asked if she can get "scraps" out of the way. Rather than her reaching to get our empty plates and whatnot like a waiter normally would, she just waited there as we consolidated everything for her. I actually intentionally didn't participate in the consolidation efforts as the rest of my party did so because I had caught on to there herding efforts. Of course the waitress didn't take my empty plate or even ask me if I was done and then take my plate. Literally the moment after we got and signed the check, the manager figure came by asking if we needed anything else in the way wait staff subtly do to get you to get up. One person in my party still had a third of their beer left. I had had it at this point with their herding efforts and made a decision right there and then that I'd never come back to this place despite liking their pizza. There are other pizza places on the island that I've been to that actually show their appreciation for giving them your business so I'll be going to those going forward. read more
