Plenty of dogs are running off leash as well which isn't an issue. Please check to make sure you know what time the park closes because they will close on you as well. Highly recommend stopping here

I had found this place searching online for nearby state parks that weren't TOO far of a drive and still had ample hiking trails. The park was easy to find, had plenty of parking and lots of paved and dirt trails for both hiking and biking. Picnic areas scattered throughout and a nice large lake for fishing/boating/canoeing (there were prices posted in the concessions area for renting a boat with motor for the day as well if you don't have your own to bring with you!) Small selection of snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic) were available for purchase, however they did not have any paper maps (there were boards posted by trail entrances and we did take photos of those). It looks like there is a restaurant next to the concessions area that opens after Memorial Day weekend for the season. We saw and heard many different birds while hiking and it was very peaceful (and not very crowded, as we were here on a Tuesday). My husband particularly enjoyed seeing the turkeys roaming around

They don't deserve one star but I'm unable to chose no stars. We were at this camp for a month. Our…read morefirst original spot was in the back my husband went up and asked if we could move to the front on the concrete, yes but we needed to pay $1,000 more. Ok that's fine, he also told the lady working that he was here for his work and we would probably need to extend our stay. She told him that was perfectly fine they were wide open. Yesterday I get a knock on my door as soon as I lay my daughter down for a nap, the knock sounded like Dog the bounty hunter was looking for America's most wanted, I thought she came through the door of my camper. It scared us to death. When I opened the door I was nice as could be when I really wanted to tell her what to do with her knock, she tells me I was suppose to be out at 11 and I needed to be gone. I said my husband isn't here he thought it was next week but I will call him, we will be extending our stay like he told you. She said "Nope, we're completely full you need to get out'" called my husband obviously he didn't answer he was working I asked her if we could stay until in the morning she said "thats fine but you have to be out early I have somebody coming in." Just went by to pick up my sons Amazon package that got delivered today and there's not just our spot but 3 other empty spots. Really looked like you had someone coming. Mind you we've been there a month like I said and the camp hasn't been full one weekend so I'm pretty sure it wasn't going to be full on a random Wednesday at the end of July. We didn't bother anybody, kept to ourselves, we kept our site clean, my kids were barely ever outside. We drive 2 very expensive cars, our camper is also brand new and expensive. So it wasn't an image problem. We paid extra for our spot, didn't complain about anything there wasn't even water pressure on our site and we didn't say a word. She tried to run off our pizza delivery man the other night like it was an inconvenience in her life that we had a pizza delivered. If your young and successful they don't want you in their park. The trailer trashier you are the better. Save your money go down the road to the nicer park with better staff that doesn't lie to you. I wish we would of started at this one so we didn't have to drag our babies out at the crack of dawn this morning for the whole nobody that pulled in. Thanks for making innocent babies move out on a Wednesday morning from your empty park.

If you wish to go to the main beach, that's an additional $12 if you are not a resident of Crystal Lake. The grounds are immaculate, very well maintained, and the bathrooms are clean. There are two lakes, multiple pavilions that you can rent ahead of time. Lots of picnic tables for you to sit down. Near the bar and grill while you can't go in the water, you can take your drink and sit on one of the cheers on the beach. You can watch people practice on their WaveRunner. Swing on the swings at the bar and listen to great music. I did not have any food here. I did have an amazing Mojito. The bartender was a young man looking to join the Barrington police force. Polite, kind and also had great customer service skills. The reason why I didn't give it five stars is that there are absolutely no markings anywhere as to what trail you are on, how long of a trail it is, and where there may be porta potties. There aren't any maps or QR codes and it was a bit confusing as I came upon several wise and the trail to decide which way to go as I had limited time there. Given the fact that everything is so nicely taken care of I don't know how they can't have at least some markings on the trails that they have there. One of the workers sent me direction and it literally just took me to a pavilion. They have kayaks, canoes, paddle boats and SUP boards. They also offer lessons for SUP depending on the day. Lots of people fishing. Amazing Place! Please add signage for the trails! The pop and water machine near the beach entrance did not work. Hopefully those are checked daily to repair.
