When we were near to finishing our backyard hardscape remodel last summer, I was in the market for a "nice" patio set. I had my heart set on Teak but did not think I could afford it. Although delayed by traffic, Paul kept the shop open for me, and helped me select the furniture I had so patiently waited to own. I looked for outdoor furniture for my deck for some time but the available sizes (too big) and prices (too high) kept me from buying from the big name stores. I stumbled upon Paradise Teak on Yelp, checked out their website, and found the perfect size deep-seated love seat at a good price. Paradise Teak is a mom and pop shop in San Leandro (just south of Oakland) and they don't really have much of a showroom-- it's more of an industrial park space with a small office and a larger storeroom in back, which I imagine helps them keep costs down. I made an appointment to go out on a Sunday afternoon and met with Paul, who runs the operation with his wife Mandy. Paul was helpful and friendly and I ended up buying not only the love seat but a nice side table, a cafe table, two bar stools, and lounge chair. For a modest delivery charge Paul brought this out to my place in San Francisco later that same week. I haven't had the furniture for very long so I can't comment on the durability, but they certainly look beautiful and appear to be solidly built. We ordered a 3 meter table with 10 chairs. Paul delivered them on Sunday, including installation and placement. He was very helpful during the selecting process at their store and throughout the delivery process. We are waiting for the cushions to arrive. Once they do, will likely upgrade this to a 5 stars. We went looking for an outdoor teak table and chair set to host a housewarming party in our new home, which was only a week away at the time. It was still early in the season so we thought we'd have no problem. Well, we were wrong. We set out in the car an visited everywhere we could find in the East Bay, from the high end furniture places to Pastime Ace, and even Ikea. We found one place with good, sturdy teak furniture over on the frontage road, but their prices more than matched the quality and, when they casually mentioned they kept none of this stuff in stock and we'd have to wait 10 weeks for the next shipment, we had to just walk away, resigned to the "just okay" outdoor furniture available around town. Thankfully, we decided to go home first and do another web search. What we found was Paradise Teak. We called and found the place is run by a husband & wife team who got into it as a sideline, but it soon blossomed into their mainstay. And no wonder. These folks are the nicest local business people we've dealt with, and they know how to take care of customers. Everything they displayed was in stock. They care about what they offer and they visit the overseas suppliers regularly to insure quality and selection. They even mentioned that the wood source is sustainable (and we love that.) They met us at their showroom at our convenience in the evening after work, let us browse to our hearts content, answered our questions completely, and gave us a discount for buying a full set, and another for paying in cash. Then the husband delivered the full set the very next evening, in the rain, fully assembled, and we carried it right into place together in the back yard. Done. Beautiful. Finally the search was over! I had been shopping online for outdoor dining set for several weeks without success. Either that I did not like the material or the style or that the price was too expensive, not mentioning about the shipping cost itself. I was lucky enough to finally spot Paradise Teak for their teak outdoor dining sets. I liked the material, the style and the price as advertised in their website. The price was much reasonable in comparison with other vendors. I could not believe myself and even thought that it probably was a scam! Mandy was easy to work with and was extremely patient in answering all the questions that I had for teak furniture. My wife and I were glad to meet Paul personally when he delivered the furniture to our house. We got along quickly as if we were long time friends. After observing our backyard, he gave us advice as to what dining set we should have ordered instead. For example, he thought that we should replace some of the arm chairs with side chairs, even though that would reduce the invoice price. We gladly took his advice of course. In addition, during installation, Paul found that there was a very tiny defection on the dining table and he volunteered to replace that table with a new one for us. My wife and I were speechless for this kind of customer service. Moreover, the delivery cost was only USD75.00 (within 20 miles from their warehouse). If you are living in the Bay Area, you should take advantage of this instead of buying from somewhere else with expensive shipping cost. My wife and I would not hesitate to recommend Paradise Teak if you are shopping for durable outdoor furniture with affordable price. Mandy makes it easy to make your patio furniture vision come to fruition. We'd gone to a few places before Paradise Teak so we had an idea of what was available and what those costs were. Not only is the furniture from Paradise Teak lovely and well made, but we had no idea how customizable Mandy could make the experience. And easy. Talk about super customer oriented service and great communication. Mandy was able to make all the pieces we ordered 3" taller so they wouldn't be so low to the ground which is great if you are taller or have a bad back. We were also able to get any fabric from the Sunbrella line which in our case partly came from Calico (Calico has a custom sunbrella line). We gave that fabric along with our 'from the book' choice to her to make our cushions and pillows. And it just so happens that her manufacturers will do custom work and she helped us create a daybed all in teak for our home that fits an extra long twin mattress. We just got the pictures and can't wait for it all arrive...sometime next month. If only all our furniture search and buying experiences were as good. read more

My wife and I called Paradise Teak based on their Yelp reviews and I have to say that they lived up to their 5 stars. Paul came out on a moment's notice on a Saturday during the off season. (They're closed except by appointment during the winter.) He was friendly, helpful, and professional. The furniture was comparable to the other stores, which are significantly more expensive. The prices really are the best. Now, not everything went perfectly. Paul forgot to tell us that there would be an extra charge for our chaise lounge pads. To make up for their oversight, Mandy gave us a discount which essentially split the difference, and I thought that was more than fair. After all, we all make mistakes, and it's the way that a company handles things when there is a problem that tests their customer service. I purchased an Adirondack chair and footstool from Paradise Teak last weekend and could not be happier with the furniture or the service. Spectacular on both counts! I called a number of stores in the bay area, none had these chairs in stock. Mandy answered at Paradise Teak and not only did they have the chair in stock, she took the time to answer all of my questions about care. She also offered to pre-assemble the chair for me, so it was all ready to go Saturday morning when I went to pick it up. She and her husband were super friendly, spent the time to discuss proper care, loaded the chair in my car for me (with padding under the edges so it didn't scrape during my drive home), and sent me a personal thank-you e-mail with the receipt. The purchase process was easy, the customer service was fantastic (she even said if I have any problems to call and they will do what they can to remedy or replace the piece), the prices are extremely reasonable (in fact, much cheaper than the other places I called), and I am going back this weekend to buy a side table. This is the only place I'll go now for our outdoor furniture - and hope to replace our table-and-chairs with some of their teak pieces in the future! Loved it! read more

My husband and I spent a while researching teak furniture both on line and in local stores. I have to say that I was a little skeptical about Paradise Teak's SIGNIFICANTLY lower prices. Price = quality, right? Wrong! I'm thrilled to report that not only is the furniture fantastic, but working with Mandy and Paul was such a great pleasure. The furniture (large expansion table with 12 chairs, a love seat and 2 lounge chairs, and some end tables) is really beautiful, really well made, and, to my eye, indistinguishable from much more expensive pieces that we looked at. Also, I won't tell you where we had them deliver this stuff because I don't want them to be obligated to do this all the time, but let me just say that they went WAY out of their way to personally deliver and set up the pieces at our vacation home, and did so so cheerfully that they made it seem like we were doing them a favor by allowing them to do it. Mind blown! The reason to shop at Paradise Teak is not because you're going to save a lot of money (you are!), or because of the great furniture, but because it feels great to support wonderful people doing local business the way it should be done. Finding the teak bench I've been looking for via Paradise Teak was a stroke of luck -- a great experience from beginning to end. I liked dealing with a "family" business, and the quality of the bench surpassed my expectations. Owners were the only people I dealt with (I got my bench via email correspondance) and since I was unable to pick up my bench, Paul arranged to bring it up grouped with several others for a very fair rate. It appeals to me that they travel to Indonesia to work with their manufacturers, and that the item was factory assembled, therefore very sound and lacking in extraneous external hardware. My husband and I have been looking for over a year and Paradise Teak was having a sale so we checked it out - and bought a patio couch, loveseat, coffee table and end table! About three years ago, my husband and I moved into a new apartment in San Francisco with a beautiful back deck. We shopped around and located Paradise Teak. Mandy and Paul are amazing to work with - super helpful, knowledgeable and customer service oriented. They helped us choose a furniture setup that would work for the dimensions of our deck. We ultimately decided on comfy deep seaters, a small coffee table and two side tables which Mandy personally delivered to our house and helped me arrange on our deck. Mandy explained the best ways to care for the teak, depending on what sort of look you want (antiqued/weathered or shiny/polished). We opted to seal our furniture and Paul explained to my husband the best way to use the seal. We love our Paradise Teak furniture! It's held up extremely well for the past three years and following Paul's sealing instructions, the furniture looks the same as the day we purchased it! Our navy cushions have held up well also and have not faded in color. I have literally NEVER yelped before, but Paradise Teak is worth coming out of the shadows. For years now we have tried to find an affordable good quality outdoor dining table. We purchased one from Crate and Barrel which soon started to show large uneven black mold spots even after applying a sealer. C/B gave us great customer service and allowed us to exchange it for a replacement. However we had more issues with the replacement and ultimately returned it for our money back (again great customer service) but a rather expensive poor quality product. We found some very expensive alternatives on the web and were almost convinced we'd have to pay big bucks for a decent table. THEN thank goodness, we decided to check out our local family owned Bay Area business Paradise Teak. AMAZING quality, reasonably priced and super nice service.
