    Paradise Valley RV park

We stopped here overnight, due to the public campground further up the road was not open as we were early in the season. The RV park is maintained by the tiny town of Paradise Valley. The site was a good find as it was late. We didn't use any of the hook ups, bathroom or shower, so have no comments on those. The place is rustic. There is a separate RV SANI STATION, which we also didn't utilize. Thank you Lisa for your quick response so late in the evening. Nancy from Las Vegas

Main Street, Paradise Valley, approaching sundown. You can walk the perimeter of the whole town in 10 minutes.

The WiFi was good, the FHU's were good and the asphalt pads were fairly level. The bathrooms are clean and modern with plenty of roomy showers and sinks. Winger's restaurant is next door and there is a casino next to Wingers, all within walking distance. I would recommend New Frontier to others.

Overnight guests will most likely be assigned to the D row, where the other one-night travelers are grouped together. The park has a somewhat institutional feel, with modular cabin buildings that each contain three cabins. The full-time RV residents are located in the back rows of the park. There is a fenced gravel dog run, but no swimming pool. I had planned to do laundry, but all three of the large washing machines were out of order, leaving only three small washers, which were already in use. Also, Wi-fi did not work very well. I used my cell service which worked much better. The camp store had very little inventory, and all of the refrigerated cases were empty. In addition, the area outside the office was fenced off and being used to store construction materials, which didn't make the best first impression. Overall, it served its purpose as an overnight stop, but I wouldn't choose it as a destination for a longer stay.

First, the challenges I faced -- (1) At that time of year, snow was melting at lower elevations, and things were very muddy. I just was driving a little sedan with limited clearance, and I realized I would not be able to drive to the end of the trailhead. I parked at one of the campsites and hiked. Even still, my car got really muddy (later the interior got muddy when I got back in!). The lessons are to drive a car with some clearance and 4-wheel-drive if possible, and bring a towel or something to clean off! (2) There was a surprising amount of snow still in March once you get on the trail. I probably should have waited just a bit longer. We were still able to hike for a while, but I wasn't prepared for the snow. Having said that, it was a nice hike. We got some great sunshine, and as the sun started to go down, you get great shadows. It feels like there could be quite a bit of wildlife around you. I saw several campers at the campsites on the way to the trailhead. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. Several other dogs nearby. The place is pretty close to town, also. I stayed at a hotel in Winnemucca that night, and this was a convenient hike for a traveler.

One of the best campsites I've stayed at, and it was F R E E ! ! Right outside town, but felt very remote and peaceful (although I can see where it would get rowdy on weekends...there was lots of graffiti on the table about kids having sex there and whatnot). Site was huge, flat and equipped with a fire ring and a picnic table...surrounded by a stately grove of trees, with a view of the creek. No mosquitoes, but plenty of birds and a skunk (who left us alone, thankfully). Not sure if wood gathering is permitted, but there was plenty around. There were also vault toilets nearby. I would DEFINITELY stay here again! Can't recommend this enough!

We had a reservation next door at the Winnemucca RV park but had concerns based on their reviews so we drove in here first and the gal in the office was able to not only accommodate us but also transferred our payment over from the other place because evidently they are under the same company just different management! Thank you so much!! Very clean here! It's all gravel and everything is well maintained. Large bathroom/showers, a pool, 2 doggie areas (no grass though) kind of like large sand boxes but very clean! They even have a dog washing station! Clearly they're a dog friendly RV park. Theres a lot of long term guests there, some who are working the lithium mines 60 miles away, everyone is friendly. I'd definitely recommend staying here!

The office is closed Sunday and Monday but the self check in process was clear and they had our reservation info ready. They have a small playground and a dog washing station. I didn't go into the bathrooms...so no advice on that. The downsides: It seems part RV park part trailer park of sorts. There were many trailers that appeared permanent and lots of big dogs outdoors in kennels set up. They have a koi pond that is in need of a deep clean. The pool looks decent but if the office is closed (all day Sunday and Monday) the pool is closed as well, which is a bummer. Overall: An easy pull off for a night of rest before hitting the road but not quite the place you'd want to hang out outdoors in the evening for ambiance.
