Danceology is an awesome, new dance school and ranks highly among the older more established school. My friends have children there and they are all praises, especially when they tell me stories about some of the other places. Danceology is in the same location of a former, reputable dance school. It was that was recently purchased by students of that school and transformed into Danceology. My friends and I all applaud them for making their kids learning something great and pushing their budding talents Now I am no expert, but my fiancee is and she digs it and has been able to tell me that my perception is dead on (YAY ME!). For kids - they can learn everything from ballet to hip-hop. I noticed that the instructor have fun and really know how to deal with all sorts of ages. I believe they are also teacher's in public schools when Danceology is closed, so that probably explains why they can teach so well. For adults they have adult classes, I think Flamenco and Zumba. My mother goes to Zumba 3 times a week - she has NEVER had this level of commitment to anything outside of the house in her life and now can't stop going! LOL. Now she even got my aunt out of the house and THAT is an accomplishment in of itself. I should send Danceology peeps a fruit basket for that achievement haha. It's easy to find, not expensive and run by young and energetic owners, both former students themselves.. I just like the fact that they are organized, offer a lot and rejuvenated a school that was slowly watching its sunset. If you have girls that like or seem to like to dance - definitely give this place a shot. This place is definitely not one of those cookie-cutter type spots. The room was full so I was looking forward to an evening full of emerging dancers showcasing their talent. The show started at around 7:20 and it was very enjoyable. It was a brief performance but kept my attention the whole time. They're hoping to make this a monthly event so I plan to go back.

Cindy O'Keefe I've…read morebeen attending the Senior Classes at the Kennedy Dancers for a number of years and enjoyed learning different types of daces Ballet, Jazz Contemporary Dance different types of exercises Yoga, Zumba and also socializing. Last year {2023} I had Major Surgery and went through several months of rehabilitation . Knew I had to continue some types of exercises and my income was limited . So I decided to go back to The Kennedy Dancers Classes In the beginning it was hard for me to keep up with the different movements in each class. As time went on and the encouragement from the teacher Erik and Gigi (Diane-the Executive & Artistic Director) and others I kept coming to the classes. I've come a long way, maybe I'm not as fast ,but I'm getting there. I'm Thankful for the Kennedy Dancers and the funds and grants that are given to them by N.J. State Council on the Arts and hope they and others continue to help fund the Senior Program so the Seniors that are on a limited income can keep attending the classes.

She was so patient and kind to us and broke things down into steps we could understand. She even burned a copy of our song so we could practice every time to it. And she came up step options that went with our song so we could pick the steps that we felt best comfortable with. We just wanted to not do the typical high school side shuffle for our first dance. My husband wanted to shock everyone and learn how to do a simple dance. Well Paula had her hands full with us but she is a miracle worker! We learned and executed a great first dance and surprised our friends and family by actually having an interesting first dance yet we were still able to look into each other's eyes not focusing on steps but our focusing on our first dance as husband and wife. Thank you Paula for ensuring that our first dance was a wonderful romantic moment in our lives that we will never forget and could never thank you enough for! She is the best and I highly recommend to anyone thinking of lessons to do them as without a doubt it was not only fun learning together but it was completely worth it to get that extra special moment with my husband!! They are also open to children who want to casually participate, and those who are interested in a more in depth pre-professional level of training. Regardless of which way your kid wants to go it will be challenging, fun and rewarding. They produce a Nutcracker each December, a spring recital and a yearly modern performance, as well as having a competition team. In the end, the reward is the sense of accomplishment that the children feel when they get to participate in these beautiful performances.

NYU Skirball has fast become my favorite Off-Broadway theatre so when I heard Pilobolus: Shadowland was coming, I had to see it!! Pilobolus' new project, Shadowland is a mix of shadow theatre, illusion and modern dance, there was even some circus stuff. The dancers use lights and their bodies to project images onto screens where you think, " how is that possible?!!" They were able to create all kinds of animals, creatures/monsters and all kinds of awesome images/sculptures which to me were beyond magic because I have no idea how they did it. The story centers around a young girl who wakes up in her dreams. She wakes up to her own shadow on the wall...somehow she ends up in the wall where her shadow exists. She can't get out so she just goes into "Shadowland", and we go with her into her adventure. Cool idea isn't it? Well, I thought so. I loved all the imagery. I could watch it again. At the end they even did a skit about NYC. I loved it!!! It was the cutest dedication to NYC. I actually wish I could see that part again. It just went so fast. I recommend Pilobolus if you can get tickets and like modern dance...actually I was really into the cool images casted onto the screen. BTW, all the dancers bodies were pretty impressive. Everyone in the troupe has a perfect body. All the dancers look really strong. I've seen other dance troupes and not all dancers look like the dancers from Pilobolus. Pilobolus: Shadowland is only at NYU Skirball for a limited time, November 20 to 25, 27 to 29 and December 1 to 6. Hurry, don't miss it. Personally, I loved it!

Cool show! Had the…read moreopportunity to see this with a friend for discount prices, so we jumped to it. I'm a huge theater fan, and seeing this was a one-of-a-kind experience. I've never quite seen anything like this - shadow theater, modern dance, some "circus acts". Overall, I thought the dancers had a lot of talent - from their strength, grace and fluidity. The plot is lacking, but I don't think that's the intended highlight of this performance anyway. The scenes truly mesh seamlessly into one another, and I found myself captivated at certain points. I'd recommend you to watch it, but I'm not sure I would've paid full price for this if I could have just gone and seen a much longer production instead (this show is only 90 minutes).
