I have been going to Dr. Carter for over a year and half, after a really bad experience with another dentist in town. I was scared and worried when I came to the clinic. Dr. Carter and his staff made me feel comfortable and walked me through each step of my care. I was in a good deal of pain when I first saw him. He was able to identify the issue and was able to fix the problem. In all my years of going to a dentist, I would dread the pain from the numbing injection. Dr. Carter has a wonderful method when he gives a shot. I barely feel anything! This past week, amidst the COVID 19 yuck, Dr. Carter and his staff took great care in doing extra cleaning and screening to protect their staff as well as their patients. If you only need regular check-ups and cleanings done on your teeth, Dr. Tafoya and crew are great. The problem is that when you have a more serious issue arise, I'm not sure you'll be able to rely on them. I hate to say this, but I sure couldn't. When I developed serious TMJ-related jaw pain out of the blue--to the point that my cheeks were extremely swollen and my mouth was basically locked shut--I naturally went to my dentist to find out what the problem was. The dentist and assistant shuffled me in and out within about five minutes, barely taking the time to examine me or explain my problem to me. I was given a prescription for muscle relaxers, told to avoid crunchy or chewy foods, and to come back again in two months. I experienced very little improvement over the course of those two months and when I went back for my check-up, I was basically told to just deal with it. I really feel like my condition wasn't taken seriously. I know there is no magic cure for TMJ, but it was really disheartening to be left in the dark for such long periods of time while I was in such discomfort and pain. The staff should have recommended me to a different dentist who was experienced in TMJ if they were unable to properly treat the condition themselves. As it was, my problem was drawn out over many painful months until I got fed up and sought out a new dentist on my own. I'm still dealing with it. I have to wonder if I would have been able to heal more quickly if there hadn't been such a delay in getting appropriate treatment. read more

I was referred to the practice about 6 years ago. I had major dental issues and lost my confidence in dentist in general and dreaded going . The first time I met Dr Carter I spent an hour going over my dental history and he listened like he really wanted to help me regain confidence in my smile . I have also had Dr Torres and she is just as brilliant and friendly . I had two major dental surgeries in 4 weeks and Paragon dental was by my side both times even though I had these procedures at the oral surgeons office . I can't recommend the practice enough . I started going to Dr. Carter when my husband and I moved to Papillion. A year later, we moved to Omaha and I continued to make the drive to see Dr. Carter and his wonderful staff! I has my first cavity and Dr. Carter made sure the whole experience was worry and pain free! My most recent visit, I had to bring my baby when the babysitter backed out at the last minute and the staff was wonderful about it! The hygienist helped keep the binky in place while the ladies up front held and comforted my baby if he cried. Talk about going above and beyond!! I have been going to Paragon Dental for about 15 years. I have always loved Dr. Carter and his hygenist Jenny. However, we have had many problems with the clinical staff with billing issues and communication between Dr. Carter and the staff. I have been promised phone calls that I have not received back. There was a situation where my husband needed immediate care that we were told there was only one option that was not covered by insurance but found out there might have been some additional options that would have been covered. After talking with friends about my situation, there have been many others that have also experienced problems with the billing staff being rude and not comforting with billing concerns. If you are a patient like me who has been putting off dental care because of fear or a previous negative experience, I can enthusiastically recommend Dr. Carter at Paragon Dental in Papillion, NE. I had been putting off getting an extraction because of how I had been treated at another local dentist. Due to my delaying treatment, my single extraction developed into 2 and I was nearly unable to chew. I went to Dr. Carter based on some Facebook reviews and I am so happy and grateful that I did. He completed both extractions in the same day, he did them quickly and I can honestly say that, while it was not the most enjoyable afternoon I've ever had, it was COMPLETELY painless. Sure there was some pressure, teeth were being removed after all, but I can state that I was never in any pain. Dr. Carter and his tech, Jasmine were completely professional but also really seemed to care about my comfort and peace of mind. He explained everything before hand and made sure I understood the procedure as he went along. While I can't say that I am eager for to my next appointment, I can honestly say that I am not dreading it and will go as soon as my extractions heal. I am now 24 hours post extraction and I am having no pain or discomfort except for the obvious need for the sites to heal. If you need a dentist and want to feel comfortable and relaxed, I know you will be satisfied with Dr. Carter and his staff at Paragon Dental. read more
