Asked us to move out once we caught up on rent, although we were not going through an eviction process and the guy I was living with and I had recently broken up after 15 years together... so we were in the process of trying to find a place to move, both to different places, and although we had caught up on rent and were current they still refused to let us stay until we had somewhere to go. I ended up with nowhere to live for months. They also passive aggressively threatened me to change my review here on yelp while I was living there, claiming that they had been "more than" generous/patient with the fact that the rent had been late in the past. My now ex had a problem with writing checks/ paying rent on time even though he had the money, but they always got their rent. I didn't like the fact that they threatened our sense of security over my right to review my time living there for nearly three years... maybe just over two, can't recall how long it actually was. But as I mentioned earlier, they didn't do me right dealing in the matter of the security deposit. It's standard procedure to repaint apartments and to use a device to make the apartments smell like new again, nowhere in the lease did it state that we couldn't smoke inside. I even cleaned the stove and refrigerator & it was just as good as when we moved in. I don't appreciate being lied to just because they didn't like the fact that rent was late, though always paid. When we left we owed them nothing. Don't get on their bad side. I have conditions that requires me to have a working air conditioner. They didn't care. I wouldn't have been able to get a note to prove it as my doctor was on vacation for two weeks at the time. The place is one of those trap houses anyway, & we only moved there because we had some financial problems prior to moving into the place. It's a dump, it's tiny, even for a one bedroom. I lived in a one bedroom apartment in the heart of Chicago that was larger, for not much more money.
