If you are white, this place may work for you. If you are non-white, the owner a short little guy with glasses and moustache, will barely acknowledge your presence and make you wait until he is good and ready to serve you & barely return your polite greeting. Then he will make you BEG for a receipt even though you have been dropping off stuff for shipping for YEARS and knows you like a receipt. Why would I drop off anything without a receipt? Some of the other staff, a black guy and Asian lady, are great. They are professional and polite. I am currently working on a PhD & need tons of supplies and to print and make copies but I would rather go further away to another print/copy place than buy anything from this rude place. The owner acts like he is doing a huge favor by accepting your parcels for shipping even though he gets a fee per package. Oh well, they can keep up this attitude and continue to lose money. I hope UPS sets up in store in this neighborhood. A professional store where they treat all customers well, white and non-white, is sorely needed in this neighborhood. I've always had good experiences here. They're located in a strip mall off of Mt. Vernon highway. Parking is abundant so don't have to deal with that. Usually I come here for notary and faxing and am in and out in less than 5 minutes. Employees could be a little friendlier but they get the job done. Parcel Plus has all your shipping needs and might be a little pricier but you're paying for the convenience of not having to deal with UPS or FEDEX and we know how they operate. read more

I went here for the last time today, after being a customer for several years. In the past I had appreciated the way staff would make dropping off a package a few-second process. What an awful experience I had there this afternoon. I had expected things to be a bit different due to COVID-19 but certainly not to be uncomfortable or humiliating. I arrived with an open box filled with items needing to be returned and had the UPS return label. Two staff members were sitting idly behind the counter. They informed me that due to being short staffed, customers had to either arrive with boxes taped closed or pay $1 for the service. When I moved to leave, stating that I would take the package home to tape it myself, they replied that I could use the tape and scissors that were hanging from strings on a shelf in front of the counter. There was no place to put the box so I held it awkwardly as I cut the dangling tape with the dangling scissors. The first strip of tape got tangled. As the two employees stared at me (my rear ended facing them) I set the box on the ground and cut a new piece of tape. I expressed my frustration at their staring at me as I struggled, while they were doing nothing. The response was that tape is expensive. I would have understood if there was a no-contact policy that prevented staff from helping, but this info was not shared and the offer of a $1 packing charge indicated that contact would need to be made during the transaction. The UPS store on 107 S West St in Old Town Alexandria tapes boxes as needed. Service there is always friendly and so fast that there is no need to feed a parking meter. I live in California but am from Alexandria, I'm home visiting and took some items there yesterday to be shipped to myself in SOCAL. I took everything into the shop in bags and wanted the staff to box everything for me in boxes I was purchasing from them and then obviously ship everything. I have to admit, I thought the price was outrageous but didn't have much other choice so I went with it. The purpose of this review however is I just got a call from Kyle over there and he said they were able to minimize the package dimensions and they were going to be able to refund me approx. 30% of what they had charged me. OMG!!! The man printed my UPS Label and then said it would cost me $1.00. I asked him why didn't you say something before you printed my label. Normally printing cost at FedEx is .15. Then I decided to go with it and pay for $1.00. Then he said it would be another $1.00 because I'm using a credit card. This is so shocking. The owner said don't say that after I said "this is crazy." I told him I can say whatever I like. This is a free speech country. He ripped the label off my box. I told him you just wasted paper and you didn't even get paid. It doesn't make sense. Smh. read more

Like the other recent reviewers, I had a horrible experience. Our office uses this place for shipping, so I asked for some extra label pockets for the future. The woman was handing me 10 pockets when the manager swooped in and said, "TOO MANY!!" Really? Like the store doesn't get these free from UPS? Like you can't take pocket from any UPS shipping box located on the street? I think this franchise changed hands given all the recent negative reviews. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but I will drive the extra mile to use the location in Old Town and support that franchise instead. read more

So... I do not like using small businesses for shipping, like this one, because they rip off people for shipping. My husband has shipped 2 packages with Parcel Plus. They are a shipping partner for UPS, FedEx and USPS. They don't seem to offer all shipping options that USPS and the others offer and their rates from these same companies are inflated by about 30% or more. I knew the exact weight and dimensions of my package and UPS quoted the shipment at $42... We were charged $63 for some reason for ground shipping from this store. I had wanted to use USPS, but my husband chose UPS and this store did not provide him all the available options for shipping and charged him more than UPS would have charged for the same service. I don't know why they overcharge. Perhaps for convenience? I called their parent company "Annex Brand Inc" the parent company told me they wouldn't be able to do anything with a franchise and upcharges are at the discretion of each individual franchise. I called the store, knowing full well what the outcome would be. "Kyle" regurgitated some nonsense about the whole ordeal and offered me 10% off on my next shipment and told me it sounds like I need to talk to my husband about the issue. He told me second day priority would have been $105, which is a 200% mark up from what USPS costs. Yesterday, second day priority mail would have gotten to Texas in time and cost about $34.50 from USPS. So yes, my husband made a more prudent decision, as it was explained to him, to ship the package for over $60 via UPS (not USPS) ground which was a 50% mark up over the cost from UPS for ground, which was $42. The package is still sitting at Parcel Plus and has not been picked up by UPS. read more

I would recommend against using Parcel Plus in the Belle View shopping at this point in time because they have not taken appropriate measures to protect their employees and customers from COVID-19 spread. I needed to send a package overnight so I went to Parcel Plus today. Of the two employees I saw, only one was wearing a mask -- and the mask was not covering his nose. I asked the second employee, who was the staff member dealing with all of the customers, why he was not wearing a mask. He explained he had left it in the back. He retrieved the mask and put it on, which I appreciated. The store has not installed any plexiglass or other partitions to separate staff from the public to the extent possible. The store has also not taken any steps that would alleviate the need to hand your credit card to the employee -- and the staff member followed no sanitation procedures when handling my credit card (e.g., using hand sanitizer before accepting card, cleaning card with alcohol wipes before returning, etc.). Patronizing businesses that do not do whatever they can to protect both their employees and their customers in a pandemic environment encourages continued disregard. I urge Parcel Plus to do better -- for all of us. read more

I would rarely think of reviewing a shipping business but I am. I had a stressful few days where I had to print and prep a lot of materials. I initially went to a competitor for this but I was somewhat dissatisfied with the service (not dissatisfied enough to name them on Yelp but enough to look around). I went to Parcel Plus and it was like night and day. They are so friendly and helpful. They have such a good attitude. I have come there for years to ship things but I was surprised to learn that they have internet and printing options now. They are really customer-focused compared to their rivals and they really work to minimize your stress. They do function as an alternative to the post office allowing you to mail things more conveniently and more flexibly. I have used them that way for years. Now they are good for printing and document prep in a pinch. My one complaint about them is that I wish they sold better office supplies. I wish they upgraded the quality of what they carry. They are good people though and I want to see a business like this being patronized. I'm giving them a 4 but it should really be a 4.5. read more

So I've used this place about a dozen times over 4 years. Everytime I go in there I am concerned that something is not right. They are going to do something to mess with my package. They give the aura of being shady and untrustworthy. But this is a perfect example of don't judge a book by the cover. They have been nothing short of trustworthy and honest and handled all my deliveries some of which were several thousand dollar worth items with complete care. I've had a P.O. box here for several years. The rates are reasonable and the service is friendly. Several times I have had them package gifts that I send to my niece and nephew in Florida. A couple of times I have taken camping trips out west, and I shipped my gear out and back using their services. This allowed me to avoid taking a lot of gear on the plane and dealing with high baggage fees. Overall, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable. read more

I wanted to write this review because I read some of the negative reviews and disagree with them. First, for me, I have found the staff attentive - as in as soon as I walk up to the counter eye contact is made and they recognize me - and if there is a customer ahead of me, a head nod to know that I am next. Doesn't sound like a lot, but if you've lived in Northern Virginia for awhile, its pretty darn good. (Versus someone on their smart phone playing bejeweled and getting a "and what do you want" attitude). I would agree that they have a laid back attitude, but maybe since I'm from Oregon I'm used to it. Its not being impolite, its just being relaxed versus wound tight like a lot of people in this area. As far a prices, yes, its VERY expensive to mail out a package from the UPS store. That being said its the cost for convenience. If you want less expensive, then find your own box, tape your own box, and drive to Eisenhower Avenue and wait in line for who knows how long and mail your box at the shipping center. You're paying for convenience. That being said, if you want to go less expensive package your own box and print your own shipping label from home and you can drop off the box at the UPS store. Do note that you cannot drop off USPS (US Postal Service Mail) at the store - but the post office is just a few stores down in the same mall. It would be nice if you could drop off packages because the USPS store has limited hours. Bottom line is that I have always had quick and pleasant service at the store. I could see how someone could take the laid back attitude differently, but its just that, a laid back attitude - I don't think they mean ill will. I've always had good service and they are good in a pinch when you can't find the right size box or just need the convenience of a store being open until 7:00 p.m. and dropping off stuff. read more

This place is a rip-off. I sent a package UPS Ground for $26 only to come home and discover their "fee" was $16 on top of the UPS cost. I was about to ship a small package via USPS as well but they wanted $29. I walked down to the post office and it only cost $3.50 to ship. I highly recommend going directly to the post office, UPS, or Fedex to avoid their "fee". And on top of that the staff is rather surly. The least they could do is include a little courtesy and a smile in that fee. read more

I only mail things out of here if the package is already pre-paid on the label or if I absolutely have to mail something out and the post office is already closed. They charge so much more than the post office, as other reviewers have said. Additionally, I mailed a pashmina in a padded envelope mid-June and my friend did not receive it in Charlotte, NC until SEPTEMBER?! Not ok. I feel that someone delivering mail on the bleepin' Pony Express would have gotten it there faster. I've used them for the notary public for some legal documentation and to have it mailed out because it was urgent, and that was a very quick and painless process. The notary is a nice, professional guy. The other workers, however, are not very welcoming at all. Whenever I walk up to the counter, I feel like singing some Kendrick Lamar: "Trick, don't kill my vibe.... I can feel your energy from two planets away.." And, I'm never left with a good feeling that my package is going to get where it's going in one piece and on time. I'd rather go down to the post office and have the really sweet old man who looks like Santa take care of me. read more

Parcel Plus has easy parking and nice large work counters for preparing your packages to be mailed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would have given them four stars except when I tried to mail a package with them they told me the cheapest rate was $30. This was for four bread and butter plates- I walked down the sidewalk in the same strip mall to the post office and mailed them for $10 and they made it to the other side of the US in two days. I will continue to use Parcel Plus for their other services which are really good. read more

i have been here about 3 x since moving to the area. it is dirty and disheveled. they have no wifi - their computer was broken as well when i was there. the staff here is rude and put out to help you. i hauled a bunch of stuff inside to pack it up and they informed me (even though the place is huge and there is plenty of space) that i couldnt pack my items in the store (arent they are packing and shipping service!?!?!) instead of helping me select the right boxes or supplies or even holding the door for me to go on the sidewalk to pack my boxes - they just folded their arms and kept saying over and over - 'not our rules - we dont own the place' - NEVER offering to help in any way shape or form. eventually - the clerk was yelling at me that i had a 'bad attitude'. the shipping is also crazy expensive - save your money and ship form a UPS or fedex facitliy or even the post office. i wont go back here again. read more

The store does provide many useful services, but take caution! Know what exactly you need before you enter. I needed to send an insured Fed-Ex package. They stated they needed to put it in another box. I, not knowing, thought they needed to use a "Fed-Ex" box. I was charged $12.00+ extra for peanuts, the box and "packing services". I Iater called Fed-Ex and found that this was not necessary. I feel I was duped and I will not use their service again. BEWARE read more

Watch out these people are not reliable.. though they said on the receipt i can submitt claims and it clearly states that for some resaon they packed glas in a "non-fragile" box they don't care that it broke because i didn't spend the money to have it "insured" ... so careful of the receipt don't believe it these people are inept! and they could care less. read more
