I was introduced to stripe via a friend who I hadn't connected with in a while. We were looking for a way to catch up And spend some time outdoors so heading to the driving range seem like a perfect idea. However, finding an affordable driving range that isn't overly crowded in Phoenix is a bit of a challenge. Now mind you, I am a high handicap golfer, who does not spend a lot of time on the course. So when I do go out, I accept that I am likely going to Dig up a lot of holes and lose a lot of balls. If your game is like mine, then this is the place for you. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on aesthetics as this is about as rough cut as they get. However, they have a driving range, a putting green And a chipping area. All of these surfaces are pretty rough and are not anywhere near top golf quality. However, if you're trying to improve your game, and you are not too bougie to play on some hardscrabble, check this place out. They do close a little earlier on evenings, but this isn't a course you would want to be out late on anyway. They also Have an executive nine hole course that you can walk or ride on. I got a tweak to my swing that was simple, easy to apply and showed immediate results. I think it's fair to say that Golf-Tec is not cheap but I think the facility, swing analysis and coaching I got to improve were a clear value. So yeah, I signed up for their big lesson, fitting, etc package (also not cheap) and got myself scheduled out. Lesson package was very flexible IMO and I can share my lessons with my son who is just starting out. I've been back since and my previous tweak was still holding and we added another one that was harder but I was able to accomplish. Combined I was pushing my 7-iron a solid 15-30 yards longer, consistently. I also practiced on their simulators after my lesson and that was fun too. All the staff I've met are great so far. Full disclosure - I had swung a golf club maybe 2 times in my life before taking lessons. I am SO glad that I took lessons with Jim. He is very knowledgeable about the sport, but takes time to really understand you and works with you in the best method it takes for you to learn. You constantly see him writing notes and taking videos of your lessons (he also shares the videos with you after - self reflection and analysis is important!) and his feedback always makes me improve and feel better about my golf game. I can't explain why or how... but his determination and confidence in what I can do made me believe I could too. He made changes to my stance and grip and showed me why and how the small adjustments make a big difference . Three very simple tips later and only 15 minutes into my first lesson, Frank had me hitting straighter and more consistently than I ever have. Had lesson #3 today and cannot believe the results. My only regret is not reaching out to him sooner and instead spending the last year and a half on YouTube videos, endless hours at the range on my own and multiple rounds just getting more frustrated. As mentioned, because so many frequent this course the range balls are in bad shape at times. Although my last visit the range balls were good as I didn't find a majorly scuffed up one. Range is lit halfway with targets and distance. This alone I would probably give 3 stars. Gil makes up for the rest. I've been through a few instructors who just didn't do it for me let alone help me drop my scores. When I met Gil I constantly shot in the 100's. After about a little over 1.5 years of practice and drills I'm constantly shooting in the 80's and taking my friends monies. Gil has provided me with mental strength for my game and awesome alignment and contact drills that I can take with me anywhere. I would suggest if you are looking for help this is your place and Gil can sort you out. Don't be afraid to step into a lesson atmosphere and learn a little. Enjoy the game!
