Played this course on 3/23/25 and it took 5 hours! Truly ridiculous at a course like this to take that long. Saw a ranger for 1st time on hole 13 and it was just some kid locking up bathroom on the course. Thanks a lot. Def didn't want to use the bathroom after 4+ hours. Not a care in the world for pace of play. Next time we saw a ranger cart was couple holes later and looked like he was just out to hang out with one of the foursomes in front of us. When play did open up slightly near end this group played like absolute slugs. Seemed like old regulars who don't respect playing at a normal pace. The old gray hired guy in charge of assigning carts, for lack of better description was an a**hole who just sat on his a** and complained about people not knowing to check in with him. Sit in a corner in the shade and thats what happens buddy. Get up, greet people leaving pro shop and be professional. Btw, this was same individual who was in ranger cart shooting the bull with slow group ahead of us. To make matters worse, the course fee of $75 is outrageous for what you get in terms of course condition. Dead areas on fairways, weeds everywhere including bunkers, some greens in rough condition. Scary to think what this course will look like in dead of summer. Couple positives was pro shop was nice and the cart girl was friendly. Also, girls in bar were nice. read more

Booked online for $55 a person....showed up with the light rain....they informed us it was walking only due to the wetness of the course but there were no push carts available because previous day's rounds were using them...all understandable. However when walking in and out of the course we counted 6 different golfers not staff golfers with carts of the course so it sucks to lied to...even worse when we asked how much it would cost to golf the round they said $55 a person???? No carts push or ride and it still cost $55? This course is barely worth that when weather and course are in perfect condition. Very very disappointing read more

Was shocked how dishonest the online price was. Booked tee time for $41 and came in and they charge me $7 fee Becus I wasn't a Tempe local. Been there a year ago and never once experience this. At least Dobson ranch golf course tells you online how there's prices for where you live. This place don't do that any makes you expecting one price and then up charge you once you there. Would not recommend that Becus of they being dishonest. read more

Used to play Ken Mcdonald way back..course was always in good shape..good practice areas..great 19th hole hangout at the bar..just good memories..golf was reasonably priced..all in all I would love to go back and play it again. read more

Fantastic experience for the money. Walked 18 with three regulars and the course was fun and in great shape. The range was wonderful as well. I took an early morning Uber from the airport hoping I'd be able to leave my luggage someplace safe. The course was beyond hospitable. Bar staff was great too. Can't wait to come back. We were looking to play a round in AZ. This place is located in the middle of Tempe. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was a Sunday and we made a tee time for 12:54 but we made a mistake and made it for Monday. Michelle bailed us out and got us in at 1:04! That was huge. We rented a set of clubs for $25. Not sure how that compares to other places. The course was in great shape and the greens were true. We played in 4 1/2 hours so we did finish the round. Convenient and friendly staff. Shoot I almost forgot, you can get 4 beers for $16 from the cart girl! read more

Jason Kennedy the Marshall kicked us off early while the groups in front of us and behind played on at the end of the day. Tried to speak with him and was met with a rude disrespect response. Not a good representation of Ken McDonald which would have otherwise been a great experience.! read more

I was hesitant to write this review but after pondering for a few weeks on it, I felt it was necessary to share: I recently had the misfortune of playing a round here with a group of friends who traveled for their bachelor party, and let me tell you, it was an experience I won't soon forget. Unfortunately, it's not for the right reasons. Pace of Play: If you're looking to test your patience, this is the place to be. The pace was slower than a sloth on a Sunday stroll. We spent more time waiting for the group ahead than actually swinging our clubs. I half-expected to see cobwebs forming on my golf bag. I was grateful I didn't have to pay for my round or I would've left. Divots Everywhere: It's like the fairways were attacked by a herd of wild boars. Divots, divots everywhere! I lost count of how many times I had to play from a crater-like depression. Forget about a smooth lie; it felt like I was teeing off from the moon's surface. Rude General Manager: The general manager needs a crash course in customer service. She berated her staff within an ear shot of us. Could not have been more rude to the groups in front of us, used profanity on numerous occasions. Utterly embarrassing representation. The Pro Shop Savior: Amidst the chaos, there was a beacon of hope--the pro shop employee named Mike. He deserves a medal for his patience and kindness. Mike not only helped me find the right golf balls but also offered a sympathetic smile. If only the rest of the course could take notes from his playbook...... In summary, if you enjoy frustration, divot-filled fairways, and encounters with grumpy managers, Ken McDonald is your dream destination. As for me, I'll be searching for a different course--one where the grass is greener, the manager isn't disgruntled and the pace is faster. Hope Mike joins me on my next round. ‍ read more

Absolutely love this place! $22 resident rate after 2pm, in great shape. Has a lot of culture. Mike is a gem up front! Everyone you run into has great vibes! Pace of play can be slow on the weekends but we're not professionals just trying to get better. read more

I would not recommend going here at all the manager kicked us out after one small mistake and didn't respect or give us any leeway we are new golfers and don't play as fast as others but we were more than happy to let people pass through. Also the pro shop guys were very kind it was just the manager and she asked an employee to escort us off when we complied and said we would leave as well. Just terrible management. read more

First of all, parking here sucks!! But after you get over it, place is alright. Course has a lot of trees and some water. Well that some water kicked my ass. Course is in OK shape, needs some work around the hazards. But, like I always say. If you don't like the hazards, then hit em straight on to the fairways. Was out with a bunch of friends, had a great time. Greens are in great shape, and the fairways are in decent shape. The bar and food was great. read more

We came into town for the holiday. Course was very busy. We were of course running late and they had given our tee time away because we hadn't been there 15 minutes before. Understandable. They were able to squeeze us in 15 minutes later. Really appreciated that. The course was fine. Idk if there's never a bar cart or just that day, it was super busy seemed like a missed opportunity. This course was a little disappointing, my husband and I only played 9 holes. The last two holes were on the opposite side of the course which didn't make sense to us to have it laid out that way. The staff was nice enough, and the golf carts were in shape but the course seemed to just be pretty standard. The grass is in transition right now so it's pretty patchy. Parking here is not fun, so if you're playing with someone else I'd suggest carpooling because the parking spaces are extremely small and very limited. Once you find parking it's a small walk over the bridge and up the steps into the clubhouse. read more

Not a bad golf course, but you can tell the greens aren't maintained very well. They have some super cheap rates which makes golfing here much more enjoyable. The people working at the clubhouse were really nice and friendly. Would recommend checking out this course especially if you can get a cheap rate. read more

Their $20 afternoon tee times on GolfNow (cart included) is an *excellent* value. I had a great time there a couple days ago, teed off at 4:30pm, and still got in 18 holes. Staff is friendly. Be warned, there is no rough, so you'll be chipping off of really tight lies if you miss the green. Fairways are in very good shape for a muni. Greens are fine, but slow. There was still a beverage cart driving around at 5:30pm, which was greatly appreciated. Having said all that, if price / value is your main concern, an afternoon round at Kenny Mac is as good as it gets. read more

Horrible service. Starter was a jerk to me pretty sure just cause I'm young. Guy in the pro shop was so slow. Showed up 30 minutes before my tee time with only one person in line and got out of the pro shop 10 minutes before my tee time. Starter didn't let me hit balls cause he wanted me on the tee box. Greens were horrible and no one fixes divots. Way overpriced. No college discount. Starter made me pay for my girlfriend who was just riding along not playing which has never happened to me. Marshal was not happy because we were playing too fast. Would not recommend to anyone. This was an awful experience. Do not go here. read more

I really enjoyed this place, which was especially surprising considering it's a muni. The greens, fairways, tee boxes were all in great shape. There was a beer cart driving around. The course was pretty open, so it made the high handicappers less frustrated. There were only two or three forced carries off of the tee. The only negative was the starter and the marshal. The starter rushed us off about ten minutes early, despite me having paid for a bucket of balls that I was still hitting on the range. And the marshal was just a pest, not having a clue what time we teed off and assuming the hole in front of us was open was because we were slow. Overall though, it was a fun round and I'd definitely go back. read more

For a public course this place exceeded all expectations! Reasonably priced and the staff there were exceptional! Des who manages the course helped us out with rental clubs and got us a tee time. Sam, also nick named the "beer angel" was a great time serving us inside. Outside we had Dannika on the cart and she was so attentive and kind, saw her multiple times and provided us awesome service. In town for work, not planning for golf but finished early and had a few hours to kill so I decided to play 9. I selected Ken McDonald based on proximity and a few good reviews, I found it to be in very good condition, very playable with multiple tee boxes (black, blue, white, etc...). Pace was nice in spite of quite a few groups trying to get out at the end of the day... very friendly customers btw! I can't imagine a better value - $40 to ride 9 with rental clubs. I always enjoy playing at this course. I grew up down the street, so the area brings back a lot of fun memories. I especially enjoyed playing yesterday afternoon for St. Patty's Day. Although I've never played here , I tried calling the pro shop a few days ago. Must have rang atleast for 5-7 minutes no answer and then tried again later that day still nothing. So I went ahead and booked a tee time on golfnow. The tee time is in the future however when I finally got a hold of the golf course they told me you must ride with another player and there will only be two carts per 4 sum. Which normally is fine even in the day of Covid however I was trying to bring my spouse along just to hangout while I play. Normally any course I play will either give you your own cart or let you pay extra to have your own. If I was able to get a hold of the pro shop to ask these questions I would have not booked it in the first place. But since I didn't now I'm pretty much out the 60$. read more

Good luck getting a full round in safely. No Marshalls on the course to regulate pace plus "golfers" that skip ahead rather than waiting, overreact to a long drive on the fairway beside them when they were on the cart path, play loud and obscene music from a wireless speaker, and purposely leave flags down on the greens. Response from a call to the clubhouse? Radio the cart boy or maintenance guy to handle a situation that was way out of his wheelhouse. Granted, the "golfers" went from zero to gangster mode immediately and the kid was useless at that point. We will stick to spending a few extra dollars to play on a course where you don't have to worry about the thug life breaking out on the course. read more

Ahh. Kenny Mac!! A pretty good Muni course but the best deal is summertime breakfast and 9!! Breakfast burritos, over easy eggs and crispy bacon, I'm sure they have a selection for vegetarians as well. You can dine, shoot nine and be done before the summer heat breaks 100!! A few bare spots but fairways are generous, trees in a few places and for you big hitters, cut the water on nine! Be careful after a monsoon. Takes a bit to dry out and watch out for the joggers and bike riders on the path. They have really good fences to protect them but every once in a while, a stray ball will get away from you. Course right now is in really good condition... we didn't tee off until 1:30 and it got really backed up. Didn't get to finish cause it gets dark now so early. However, this is a fun and challenging course. Pricing isn't bad about $40, sometimes they offer specials and Groupon may have a $20 special. Inside they have friendly staff and $2 beers! This is a great wide open flat golf course, which has pretty decent maintenance, for great prices. in the summer it costs about $18 to play 18 holes with a cart. The cart girls are beautiful! In the winter, I believe its about $35 for 18 with a cart. Cant beat that! Its a par 72, pretty easy course. If you are a serious golfer, you could kill on this course. Play time is actually pretty slow usually, as it is very crowded, probably because of the good prices. I have been playing here for about 5 years now, and you run into anyone from a grumpy old 0 handicapper, to a 45 yr old dude just gettin hammered with his buddies, and then the semi serious college kids. There are about 4-5 water holes which are very nice, as well as pretty tough to play. The 8th is a mean one. I would definately recommend playing here to anyone looking to enjoy a nice day, because you will be out there for a while. read more
