A True Gem in Puerto Rico - A Home Away from Home What can I say? Parguera Plaza is not just a resort or a hotel--it's an experience, a feeling, a place that instantly becomes home. From the moment you step in, you are embraced with warmth, hospitality, and a level of service that goes beyond expectations. The front desk staff are beyond knowledgeable--not just about the resort, but about the entire island. They don't just check you in; they ensure that you feel welcome, safe, and truly at home. Every staff member, from the bartenders to the waiters to the cleaning crew, operates with a level of care and dedication that is unmatched. This place is a pearl, a hidden treasure in Puerto Rico. The moment you walk through its doors, you feel as if you've stepped into a destination far beyond--a touch of Greece, a hint of Rome, a whisper of Paris--all wrapped up in the heart of La Parguera. And the food? Simply outstanding. They don't just serve meals; they create experiences. Even with dietary restrictions, they go out of their way to accommodate, ensuring that every guest is taken care of. Here, it's never about the money--it's about quality, passion, and service from the heart. What truly sets Parguera Plaza apart is the way they treat people. It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, or who you love--you are family here. They welcome you like a brother, a sister, an aunt, or an uncle. There is no feeling of being a tourist--only the overwhelming joy of belonging. From the incredible music to the 24/7 pool and round-the-clock service, this resort doesn't just meet expectations--it exceeds them in every way. I have traveled the world, and after 17 years away from Puerto Rico, coming here felt like I never left. Parguera Plaza reminded me why this island is so special. To the entire team: thank you from the bottom of my heart for the hospitality, the kindness, and the unforgettable experience you provided for my husband and me. If I could give you 100 stars, I would. This place is nothing short of paradise. If you are looking for the best place to stay in Puerto Rico--look no further. Parguera Plaza is more than a resort. It is home. "Parguera Plaza - Where You Arrive as a Guest and Leave as Family"

There were several really good things about this hotel. The view was amazing, it's right in the middle of everything going on in La Parguera. Our room, while not large, was big enough for the two of us and very clean. Water pressure in the shower was terrific, like being under a fire hose if you really cranked it up. WiFi speeds were pretty good too. However, there are no fridges or microwaves in the rooms. No ice machine on premises and coolers aren't allowed. The springs in our bed (room 15) made noise when you rolled over. Also, the white shades allowed a lot of sun into the room. For a town that has a lot of night life, early morning sun isn't particularly welcome. Darker shades would really cut down on the light. We also didn't receive maid service after our first night there. We went on a boating tour, got back after 1:30 pm, no one had shown up. The Moorings restaurant was on the side of the hotel our room was on, septated by a church. They had a live band the second night we were there and played until 12:30 am. Unfortunately we had to be up early to get ready to head back home so just be aware of your on the side of the hotel noise can be an issue. They have more interior rooms so if noise bothers you request that. Overall the hotel was nice enough in terms of view, cleanliness, WiFi and water pressure. Staff was also very friendly. But things like noisy mattresses, lack of ability to keep drinks cold in the room and excessive morning light are drawbacks. We do plan on coming back to La Parguera (my wife's family lives in Lajas) so hopefully the hotel will continue to modernize and improve the accommodations.

It's all about expectations. This is not a Ritz-Carlton, it is a cool local hotel, owned by locals that provides a wonderful local experience. My room was comfortable, humble, safe, clean, and well kept. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a great pool and bar, and its location is beyond convenient. It is in the midst of La Parguera's Plaza, and walking distance to all the cool restaurants and bars. The ocean is across the street. My room was very modest. It had a nightstand, closet, table, tv, and a/c in the window. The bathroom was small. But note, I also booked the most basic room available. It was like staying at a friend's guest room. The room met my expectations, parking is included and onsite, and Fernanda the bartender and Carmen at the front desk provided great service, so much so that I remember their names. This place is awesome for what it is, a cool, modest, local hotel in a fun local beach town. If this is what you're looking for, this place is for you. If you're looking for the Ritz-Carlton, they have those in Isla Verde.

The bathroom has a trick shower where a fair amount of water runs across the floor. The staff was very helpful with one key exception: the woman who appeared to be the manager. Despite certificates from hospitality training school, she was literally the only person we encountered in 5 days in PR who was unhelpful. When we arrived at 3:30 pm after driving from San Juan, her first reaction was to tell us to go away and come back at 4:00. Seriously. She finally allowed us to wait on the terrace until our room was ready. Then she gave us tokens for "welcome" drinks after making us feel unwelcome. Dear manager, here's how you make guests feel welcome: "Oh my goodness, your room won't be ready for another 20-30 minutes. I invite you to wait in the bar/terrace and enjoy your welcome drinks until the room is ready."

What really set them apart though, was the people who run this inn. They were so lovely and welcoming, and seemed to genuinely care about us having a good time there. Not just at the inn, but the things we did while we were there as well. They talked to us about our plans, gave tips along the way. They made sure we knew of all the factors that could impact our trip to the airport on our final day. They were literally the best. We enjoyed them so much that we spent the end of our evenings at the inn bar, chatting with them because we really enjoyed their company. They also know how to make an excellent drink, with really fresh ingredients. That leads me into breakfast.... So fresh and tasty! They give you great options to choose from and you can even decide if you want to eat breakfast on the patio or have it delivered to your room. They really know how to enhance a vacation! This was the best part of our trip in Puerto Rico. The beauty on this side of the island is insane. It's a little bit cooler, which we loved! And swimming in the bioluminescence was unforgettable. 12 out of 10 recommend!

As we made our way around the island, we needed a single night stay on 1/3/19 and Nichole C found this place. Although I had my doubts (especially based on how it looks from the outside), it turned out to be sort of charming. Upon checking in, we were given a sealed plastic pouch with a TV remote control and our room key--an actual, honest to goodness metal KEY attached to a cute painted wooden turtle! The front desk even has those retro cubbies for mail and packages, something you never see these days. Our room was quaint, a far cry from the Hyatt Regency's and Embassy Suites of the world. The bathroom was small and the water pressure in the shower wasn't great, plus the ceiling tiles were pretty beat up. No bugs though (thank god). Don't bother asking for the Wi-Fi password.....there isn't one. In fact, there was no internet connection *at all* in our room, nor in the common areas. Parador Villa Parguera is located in Lajas, a fairly remote part of the island that will really test your phone's 4G LTE coverage. There was a pool, in addition to a courtyard area with a waterfall and some very nice landscaping. My girl joked that it'd be perfect for weddings, I told her "mmmmm, we could do better". PVP has their own restaurant and backs right up to the waterfront. The motel seemed to have some pretty strict rules regarding check out: they'll charge you $25 if you don't check out by 11am, and after 12pm the cost turns into an entire night's stay! Don't forget to return the remote control, or they'll ding you a separate $25 fee. * TL;DR * I would advise setting multiple wake-up alarms and NOT missing the 11am check-out time, otherwise you could be in for an unpleasant surprise. The beds are comfy enough and the motel is close to the downtown area. Pool seemed nice. If you can survive without hi-speed internet connections for a night or two, then I'd have no problem recommending Parador Villa Parguera.

True to the name, there are hammocks everywhere, including one outside each room's entrance. Awesome pool area with a waterfall and tons of cute seating. And even though Puerto Rico as a whole never fails to delight me (a Minnesotan) with the kindness of the people, the staff of La Jamaca were endlessly thoughtful, friendly, and professional beyond my expectations. The food didn't impress me. I did actually like having breakfast each morning; the eggs, french toast, and coffee were all good. But the dinner entrees we tried were big on quantity, not so big on quality. And pretty high-priced as well. We had taco dinners and a mofongo - the latter was pretty good but quite salty, and the tacos were lacking in flavor. Also can't recommend the avocado toast. One more thing: the shower took 5+ minutes to get above room temperature, and infinity minutes to reach a temperature that could be reasonably described as "hot". But other than that, solid hotel. Clean place, comfortable beds, gated parking area, and again VERY nice staff. I sincerely hope I have a chance to return!

Although he'd reserved a studio, when we arrived, we found we had been upgraded to a one-bedroom unit, as the studio's door was being repaired. Late check in was very easy. The property's deck is large and has a gorgeous view of the beach directly below. You really cannot beat the location of Villa Tropical on Shacks. We enjoyed drinking our coffee on the deck whilst watching the sun rise in the mornings before grabbing our gear and walking down the short flight of steps to the sand. The gift shop within the office is a major time saver, too, when you need a drink or snack but don't want to drive. The Econo supermarket is only about an 8-minute drive away, though, when you do want to do a grocery run. It was awesome having a fully stocked kitchen and being able to cook and eat in most meals. We loved grilling on the deck at sunset! The Ola Lola restaurant is a cute spot a short walk away for food or drinks when one would rather skip cooking, too, and in each room, there is a very thorough guide compiled by the management with information on where to find all kinds of things in the area, from film development to entertainment. It was extremely convenient to be able to do laundry on the premises also. The staff are super helpful and maintain VT very well. Our unit (1B) was clean and comfortable, and by the end of our stay, we had fallen into a nice, homey routine. I was sad to leave and understand why Shacks is a place so many return to every year. The beach is clean, the big waves break far from the shore, there are interesting reefs for snorkeling, many days have adequate wind for kitesurfing, and there is a friendly surfer community among those who stay in the area both longer term and seasonally.
