I have been a hairdresser who worked for John Jay, even Is His Assistant, for many years. I just needed the very bottom of my hair cut, as I cut the rest of it. But I can't remove my head so I have to get someone else to do the length of the bob. They had me use a girl who absolutely should not be a hairdresser. She could not cut my hair. It was off over an inch and a half on one side longer. And when it's a Bob, it really shows. I asked her to cut more off and tried to show her how to check lengths. It was too long, but she said she had to go. I just called the salon and asked for somebody else to cut the bottom of my hair, and they said they would give me a discount and someone would do it for only $35 as long as I left with my hair wet. Which is what I was gonna do anyhow. You have to be kidding me!?! I just paid this other girl that same amount of money and gave her $10 tip because she is inept, and I felt bad for her. I figured she'll get fired soon. I have already paid. They used to be a great Salon, but apparently they're not anymore. And the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I would never go there. I will show a friend and teach them how to cut the length of my hair before would go there again. And considering I used to teach with Jay's students too, I could teach a monkey how to cut hair. Charleigh at Paris Parker in Hammond is ahh-mazing! She offers a variety of services like makeup applications, extensions, etc. but I go to her regularly for my haircuts. She always does such a great job with my hair. I'd recommend her to anyone but especially anyone who loves shags or bobs. She does razor cuts, too! read more

Extraordinary is the only word I could use to describe the amazing service I got from Paris Parker salon today!! Cristina did an amazing job. She helped make me feel beautiful!!! Today was the absolute best experience I've ever had in ANY salon. The warm, welcoming smiles of everyone there put my nerves at ease. Everyone was so kind. This salon treats you like you are the most important person there and when you leave you feel like you are. At no point during my service did I ever feel like she was rushing to get to her next client. From start to finish I was just a person. Public places can be very high stress for me. All I wanted was some low lights in my hair. No cutting involved. No styling involved. I was charged $200 for the bottom part of my hair done. It was supposed to be an ombré look. This was my first time going to this salon and I LOVED IT! Had the best visit and chat with LAUREN MITCHELL! She was so nice and did exactly what I wanted for my hair cut! I told her what I wanted she pulled up a pic and did exactly what the hair in the picture looked like. She was very friendly and we had a great conversation. You pay for what you get, at least in my experience.. Prices are steep, but I've never gotten a cut I didn't like and I've gotten about 10 to a dozen here. I've been going to exclusively Mary for some time now and am always happy with the outcome. They did my makeup for my wedding a couple years back and I was happy with the experience. I've also gotten a massage and have been meaning to schedule another. I was surprised to find the other reviews were unsatisfied. I've had several experiences over the years and at BEST they were average. The best services I ever got here were mani-pedis. I find their hair services expensive and don't like that you have to go from 1 person for color to another for hair cut/style. But the WORST thing is that I tried booking a massage about a year ago to use a gift cert my husband gave me. When calling to book appt I mentioned I had psoriasis and said that it is NOT contagious. I was told that it would be better if I just had a chair massage - they obviously didn't want to touch me. I was livid and embarrassed. My husband went to the salon to demand his money back and spoke with the manager who apologized and told him that this should never have happened. Really?! Of course it shouldn't have but it did. Always go for blow outs, and always love it. I love the products, which are the best quality. Their customer service is great! (I've been going here over the last few years and think the service has definitely improved!) I've seen several different people here and have always left happy. I have always wanted to be more blonde and for whatever reason I would leave the hair salon's after spending a fortune with white hair or with it looking so brassy I hated it!!! So I would always resort back to doing the same ole thing I had been doing for the past 15 years, dark underneath with highlights!! The front desk staff were super friendly. It was a very hot day, so they supplied me with plenty of water after I came in thirsty. Now the stylist was mediocre even though the charge was almost $50. I think that the mediocrity of the whole experience was on me somewhat because of the hairstyles I had picked out for my hair cut. He told me that it may not come out like the photo, and I thought he should have suggested and welcomed the idea of doing something different. As it is I am not too happy with the results. Also there are a few pieces that were not cut. Like thin long strands in a couple spots. I will be contacting and scheduling an appointment to get this issue resolved. I came in because I had received gift cards, but I think I will stick with my usual stylist at Ulta. read more
