Based on the multitude of poor reviews, it seems as though this facility does not care to improve in any way, but my review will serve as record of the abhorrent treatment my mother received at this facility starting on January 19th. On Thursday January 19th I found my otherwise healthy mother on the floor of her bedroom and called 911. During her fall she cut her forehead and was bleeding. Paramedics arrived and took her to Paris Regional Medical Center Emergency room and we followed in our vehicle. At first glance, they were stating it looked like a heart attack. When we arrive at the ER, there are several folks in stretchers, we're all lined up in a hallway and there is no one trying to organize the situation. A nurse at some point started asking people who had arrived first, there did not seem to be any medical prioritization at all. The staff in this area is not just jaded, but insensitive and without beside manners. My mother is slurring her words and having a very difficult time and the nurses asked if this is her 'normal' state. One of the attending Dr's, in an attempt to be humorous, asked if she had too much whiskey. My mother does not drink and it frankly was not the time for such jokes. Lastly, the nurse attending that evening with red hair should never be patient facing. My mother cried for us to find someone else to assist her, she was traumatized by this nurses demeanor and I also was subjected to her unprofessionalism until I asked to speak with a dr. I'm guessing, should someone be interested, you can research her name. I did not catch it and when I asked her, she ignored me and walked out of the room. After this horrific experience, my mother was admitted the following day and we spent the rest of the time on floor 4. The staff on this floor is hard-working, they're stressed and they are understaffed. This was obvious from day one. They had a hard time keeping people from smoking on the floor, many patients cried out for help for what seemed like 30 minutes or more and no one came. It felt as though we'd left the US and we're in some 3rd world hospital facility that lacked the basics and everyone was trying to do the best they could with limited resources. This hospital has limited cafeteria hours. So on the first night for my mother on the 4th floor, you can imagine our surprise that they forgot to put her on the dinner list. She had no food restrictions, they simply forgot. Since the cafeteria is closed, we had to drive elsewhere to get her some food. As recent transplants to Paris, we are shocked at this facility, and that's an understatement. This entire situation is ripe for a lawsuit, and I'm certain it will happen as more folks are moving to the area and will ascertain that this behavior and lack of regard for your patients is your status quo. Shame on the ER staff for your lack of compassion and professionalism. Shame on the hospital for limiting your nurses and caregivers to the point where they forget to order food for their patients. Well let's add another 1 star review to this facility that should be shut down immediately! I was told to come here which was a terrible recommendation after I saw the reviews I made the mistake to still come here. I came with a horrible ear infection and a bad palpitating heart. They didn't give me any care or resolution for my heart, they literally said "we can do that another time" then proceeded to my ears. The doctor came in and said "yup we have to clean them." Then went to the nurse next to the curtain wall in the horrible fast track room and asked if "she really had to clean my ears".... Then I never saw her again and the nurse put an over the counter drop in my ear and called it a day. 5 days later my ear doubled in pain and I finally went to an ENT, he cleaned my ear and gave me medicine for 120 bucks. And he did a perfect job and now my ear is great. I also got horribly sick from the cramped waiting room. After all of that they can't lookup your insurance like every hospital/ER/Doctor can do, and they send me a bill of 700 DOLLARS FOR THAT HORRID CARE! The only reason they got my SSN was to bill me! They treat you like crap. Only positive was some good front staff but that's literally it! Parking lot was disgusting, front of the ER was disgusting, and just looked so mis managed. Even if I'm in debilitating pain I will drive all the way near Dallas, any place would give you better care than this "hospital" NEVER COME HERE! Paris Regional Health MAFIA!! read more

My wife and I have both have had numerous experiences with the staff of PRMC. All of which have been exemplary in every way. Most recently I had a minor procedure performed in the Endoscopy Dept.. From the ladies at the Registration desk on the first floor, who were perfect for anyone who might be a little anxious, (even the lady who was a tiny bit late, to the entire staff of the endoscopy dept. Everyone was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient, including the anesthesiology staff, making my visit as pleasant as possible. Way to go PRMC, you have done it again.....Oh yes, I am suggesting a raise in salary to each staff member on my team!!!So don't forget, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!! WORST ER experience EVER! DO NOT let them fast track you in the ER! This is a review of my ER department experience. I had to be wheeled in with a wheelchair because I could not walk at all. I reported that I fell and had knee, back and hip pain. I feared I had broken something. I was in horrible pain and reported I was uncomfortable in a seated position. When the triage nurse said she was going to put me in "fast track", I thought that would be a good thing. IT IS NOT! Turns out Fast Track is a minor emergency triage option. Very appropriate for kids with ear infections, etc. But not for trauma!!! They wheeled me to a tiny hot waiting room where we waited for an hour and a half only to be directed to a room the size of a regular ER room with 5 or 6 recliners separated by curtains. The room was tiny and also very hot. I told the nurse I could not sit in that chair, that I needed a bed. Sitting in the wheelchair for as long as I had had caused my pain to increase a lot! They said they don't have a bed. Sorry. I explained my pain and injury and they said that's all they have. So they put me in a torn up recliner(they were all torn up) that had a broken handle and didn't even recline. I was in tears by this point. The PA had another patient change seats with me because mine didn't recline. After a while of sitting in pain and crying the PA saw me, after she saw another kid with an ear infection. I happen to know every symptom and treatment for every other person in that room because, remember, only curtains separated the many chairs. Another fun point, we got the chair directly beside a very dirty bathroom with no soap that apparently was the only one for the whole ER department, because the traffic level was very high. My wife was constantly stepping out of the bathroom seekers way. Imagine being examined by the PA while tons of little kids brushed past to get to the bathroom. Of course they stopped and watched for a bit because they are kids and they don't understand how horribly inappropriate that is. The pa promised pain meds soon, but no one came. I was taken to the xray room with no pain meds and I cried and cried through the whole xray. My pain was at a 10 and I had to climb around on that hard cold xray table. Well at least the table was cold after sitting in the 100 degree fast track waiting room and joke of an ER room. They finally came with some meds. Pills, no IV's here! No pillows for my knee to at least try to make me more comfortable. Nothing. Nothing but a bunch of kids with ear infections. We begged them to move us to a room. We asked 2 nurses and the PA and they all said, "I'll see what I can do". I bet you can guess what they did. NOTHING. There was a young man that also was in the fast track waiting room with us, and I saw the room across the hall from us empty and they put him in it because the recliners were all full. Instead of moving me into the room and putting him in the recliner that he was apparently in line for too. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? Look- I think that fast track deal has its place and is a good idea....FOR KIDS WITH EAR INFECTIONS!!!! Not for a trauma patient in extreme pain. If I was mobile enough I would have left and gone somewhere else. But guess what? They took my wheelchair, so I couldn't go anywhere. Not even to the bathroom. My wife had to help me hop to the bathroom when I couldn't wait any longer. I'll tell you this is the absolute worst ER experience I have ever had in all of my 50 years. No bed, no IV, no pillow or blanket, no M.D. and no empathy either. Unless you are bringing in a kid with an earache, DO NOT LET THEM PUT YOU IN THAT "Fast Track" It is an absolute joke. In fairness, I had treatment at that ER on a previous occasion and had a regular ER room, and Dr. Jordan was wonderful. I was not so lucky this time. SUMMARY: I did not receive appropriate treatment for my specific need. I was ignored. The staff was rude. read more

Has to be the worse hospital EVER. From the rude receptionist to the no "personality" doctor I had treat me.

I had the misfortune of coming down with appendicitis with this place as the closest ER. While most of the staff was friendly, though laced with incompetence, what made this experience miserable was the appalling level of douchebaggery of the surgeon. I don't think I've ever met someone as condescending and disengaged as the a**hole who treated me. Every brief exchange (about 60 seconds a day, only because I tried to drag it out) was dominated by his patronizing snark. Ex, me: "What EXACTLY happened during the operation?" Him: "You had surgery. We took your appendix out." Me: "No, I mean, my throat hurts. I assume you had me on a ventilator?" Him (quizzical, as if talking to a moron): "Yeah, we put you on a ventilator. We do that so you can breath." Through the whole conversation, he's backing away toward the door with every answer, interrupting me, trying to wrap things up before I get too curious about the first major surgery I've ever had. I've seen doctors with "poor bedside manner". But I've never encountered a jackhole this repugnant. If you have the time to get to a real hospital, I highly recommend it. The only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the infrequent smattering of compassion and competence I found amongst the nursing staff. read more
