So this shop wasn't exactly on the agenda but it happened to be next to the pizza shop we stopped…read morein for lunch and as soon as my kiddo saw the box out front with a "5 cards for $1" sign I knew we were making a pitstop. I don't often visit trading card or comic book stores so idk what I was expecting as we walked in but I've got to tell y'all -- five-star experience from the moment we stepped in. Must start off by giving props to the guys behind the counter -- we interacted with two of them and both were so incredibly friendly and personable; when my son asked about Pokémon cards they guided him to the shelf full of packs and then popped over a few minutes later with a goodie bag to take home full of stickers. After several minutes of deliberating my kiddo picked a pack to purchase.. up at the counter they totaled up our purchase and ended up tossing in those 10 cards we grabbed from the box outside for free. They also grabbed a stack from behind the counter (that was likely destined for the box out front) and told him to pick whatever he wanted from there. I know those cards in the box out front don't have much value (being 5 for a $1 and all) so it probably wasn't a big deal to these guys running the shop to give away a few dollars worth but it means a lot to this mom. Super thankful for these guys and their engagement...my lil guy went home super happy w/ a whole bunch of new cards for his binder. Other fun things to share about this shop: - Besides Pokémon they also had plenty of cards to check out: sports cards, magic the gathering, kpop demon hunters, marvel collector cards, etc. There are new packs and vintage cards. - There's a bunch of tables set up in the store.. so that's kindof perfect while you're waiting for your kid(s) to pick out a pack of cards. Or, I supposed, if you and a group of friends are looking to shop and trade cards. - They've got promotions happening nearly everyday! We visited on a Monday and received 5% off our total. - And they've got deals for new customers -- sign up for emails and get $10 in credit for their next purchase. Soooo yeah, unexpected stop, but 100% worth the time. We'll be back for sure.

Even the guy that looks like an owner or manager was just standing there trying to blend into the wall. They do not greet you when you enter and they do not thank you for shopping with them. Items: They have things from hats, fleece throws, jerseys, mugs, cups, and etc. in this store. Pricing: The prices can range anywhere from $15 and up depending on the item that you want to buy. My friend bought a hat that had designs on it already and it was $50 and up. Overall: The store is a bit pricey on the hats with designs which might be around the same as the other hat stores. The staff could try a little harder with the customer service.

There is literally a narrow line to weave thru in the event there are say more than 7 people, aside from the staff browsing throughout the shop. A lot of the good picks can be hard to buy depending on the season (i.e. there was a dope fishing boonie that was neat and the perfect size for me however it was floor model only and likely previously fitted by many individuals). This is my first time to a physical MIL surplus store as I typically shop online for them and had no knowledge before my visit that this particular one was in operation for well over 50 yrs, kudos. One thing though is that if you plan on returning or exchanging anything you should discuss all the details PRIOR to purchase. For myself, def learned this the hard way as there was some gear I bought, accessories and tees (pd in cash) but changed my mind on some of them after a couple of days. Then I checked online and their store policy is 5 days with original receipt. So I returned with my goods, namely a T-shirt and was told it is NON-REFUNDABLE due to it being "underwear" and the fact it "touches your body". I was thinking "ok..." and my face def showed it, as this was the first time in my life that I heard of a business that bent their return policy. Maybe it was because of the fact that I paid cash for my gear, not sure and the owner did not want to refund me, but I got past it. But as a heads up, if you do think you may have any sort of wrinkle with a return it prob is better to put it on your charge card so you can work it out with the issuer/card company for any disputes. On July 12, 2026 while visiting New York, I purchased a limited-edition Jay-Z Yankees jacket from the New York Yankees Clubhouse Store at 745 7th Ave. Before completing my purchase, I specifically asked the sales associate what I should do if the jacket didn't fit. She instructed me to take a picture of my receipt in case I needed to return it. At no point was I told the jacket was final sale or non-returnable. There was no verbal disclosure, no visible signage brought to my attention, and nothing on my receipt indicating that the item could not be returned. The following day, after trying the jacket on in my hotel room, I returned to the store because I was unhappy with the fit. Only then was I informed that the jacket was non-returnable due to its price. Had this policy been disclosed before the purchase, I would not have completed the transaction. Since returning home to Los Angeles, I have called multiple times requesting to speak with a manager or general manager. Despite being promised callbacks, I have never received one. I have also learned that I cannot return the jacket to another Yankees Clubhouse, Lids, or Dodgers Clubhouse location. Businesses are certainly entitled to establish their own return policies. However, consumers are entitled to clear disclosure of material terms before making a purchase. The circumstances surrounding this transaction raise concerns under New York General Business Law § 349, which prohibits deceptive business practices, because I was never informed of a significant limitation on my ability to return the merchandise despite specifically asking about returns before purchasing. This review is not about being unhappy with a store's return policy. It is about the failure to disclose that policy before the sale and the complete lack of follow-up from management afterward. I respectfully request that someone from corporate or senior management review this transaction and contact me to resolve this matter. I would much rather update this review to reflect a positive resolution than leave it unresolved.

I asked about repairs both times, with almost 2 years between visits, I got the same response both times the repairman got sick & we're between repairmen An authentic hat shop experience should be easy to achieve with just one old-school, experienced hatter from that generation . Someone who could teach the crew & top brass how to run a real old fashioned hat shop. When I come to Manhattan I want to see that old neon Stetson sign and hear the whoosh of the steamer.
