I ended up liking one of the shoes they brought out a lot (they were definitely more comfortable than my last pair)! He helped me and my husband find the perfect pair of sneakers and didn't try to sell us stuff we didn't need (and gave candid feedback when I selected certain sneakers that he thought would not fit my needs). He also suggested special insoles given the shape of our feet, which we purchased. I also loved that they have a test to measure your feet to help select the best sneaker fit for you. I was three days into our week-long (first!) visit to NYC, had already averaged more miles per day than I typically walk per week, and had bounded up and down multiple flights of stairs at "Sleep No More," when I hobbled into the store. I had been battling metatarsal pain in both feet, for several months, and had already switched to more supportive shoes, but I was in so much pain that morning that I could barely walk half a block without having to stop and rest. I searched online specifically for a show store with kind and knowledgeable staff, and after reading customer reviews and learning that Super Runners had a foot scanning machine, I headed that way. Kevin was an absolute dream to work with! He made note of my supination, flat feet, and trick knee, while discussing the mechanics of the right (and wrong) shoes to address the underlying issues. He brought me a pair from three different brands, and stood by patiently while I tried on at least two sizes of each. When I got frustrated wavering between two that felt *almost* right, Kevin said he was going to bring me one that I "might hate," and might actually make walking feel like even more work at first, but that could really help to retrain my muscles and lead to proper alignment. He was right on all counts! I ignored my brain's "Hard pass!" about how they looked, tried them on, and listened to my body's intuition that said they were the right choice. I wore them out of the store, managed to continue traipsing through the city for the rest of our trip, and have worn no other shoes since. It is one month later, I still don't love how they look, but my feet are healing, my knee is getting stronger, and I feel grateful for Kevin every morning when I put on my shoes. I bought a pair of sneakers at the Huntington location and came here to exchange them for a half size up. SO happy this location (and this location only!) had them! The manager Javon helped me out. He looked up my SureFoot foot scan, evaluated my feet, and assured me that the Brooks Transcend shoes were right for me. He was a great help. Do yourself a very important favor and go do the foot scan at the Super Runners Shop to get precise evaluation of your feet. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because this location doesn't have the treadmill that the Huntington location has, which meant that they can't watch you run and tell you if your sneakers are right for you, and that's what differentiated the SRS Huntington location from say, Modell's, for me. This is a big con because that's the best way for them to see your running form and recommend a shoe for you. read more

I have to review the store after seeing so many negative reviews. I am a TOUGH customer. I mean the type of person that I don't even want to deal with but I needed shoes ASAP. This place was the closest. I braced myself for mediocrity and went in with an attitude. Within two seconds I realized it was all for not as everyone was so nice and attentive. The minute I walked in the door. It was amazing customer service. My salesperson was so attentive. We checked and rechecked my feet. Tried on at least 7 pairs of sneakers, he traded out socks so I would know how should felt in thin or thick socks, added multiple insoles until we found the perfect one. Excellent running store! The first time I came in was for the 2014 NYC Marathon. I was looking for a marathon shirt that was sold out at the expo, lo and behold, this store had marathon items! And in my size! As soon as I walked in, even though the store was crazy busy, someone found time to ask me if I needed help. I found the items I was looking for, with no crazy mark ups for the marathon, the check out was quick and easy. the next time I came in was after the marathon, I was thinking about getting my feet evaluated for insoles, since I was having a lot of knee pain. I was again helped quickly, got my feet evaluated for some insoles, and was even able to get a discount for the marathon! The staff is very friendly, helpful, and quite knowledgeable about the products in the store. They have a large selection of different brands, especially in running shoes, and if they don't have a specific color you are looking for but knows exists, they will even call around or check the back. Most places just say eh we don't have that, and you are stuck with what they do have. Considering everything, the pricing is fair. read more

I am a "fair weather" runner and usually in the spring time, begin thinking about my running walking shoe to wear down in the summer and fall. I came here in 2019 and worked with Carmen, and today just came in and worked with Courtney. Both of them were excellent. Shout out to Courtney for taking time to hear my needs and how my health has changed, anticipating what that would do for my runs this summer, and putting me in a great neutral-cushion shoe that was just right. She brought others out too to try; I was curious about one brand of shoes that's gotten a lot of buzz and she gamely had me try a pair of those as well, just so I could compare. Her top choice was my favorite, and I just got home and had to go on a long walk in them to get them back on my feet! It's a pain to come to times square as a local, but this shop is WONDERFUL. The people who work there ask the right questions so they can put you in the right product (and as other reviews mention, they have some cool tech that helps them evaluate your feet, and identify, among other things, pronation/supination). I went in to try on a pair of running shoes as it is near my office, and the gentleman who was helping me could not have been more rude. This is not your daddy's shoe store, this is a bone fide pure breed RUNNER store. Hence, the name. It's not just because they sell running shoes, and many of them, but also because they have knowledgable staff full of runners and pedorthists. SRS was recently acquired by SureFoot which implemented their custom-insoles system. This gives the staff the ability to find out more information about your feet then ordinary methods utilized by other running stores in NY. The easy and fast foot scan can tell much about your running tendencies and injury susceptibility. In turn, the staff can determine the exact brands and shoes you should be wearing regardless of price. Some people complain about prices, but they are literally the same prices you will find not only in NYC, but also around the country. And when new models come out, you my find very good discounts on popular shoes. Pros: --SureFoot foot scans = more information = better service --Staffed by runners that know what they are talking about. They listen and ask poignant questions about your running/injury history and can usually solve popular issues because it is likely they themselves have dealt with the same thing. --Excellent variety of Neutral, Motion Control, and Stability shoes. --Also, a good variety of Traditional, Minimal, and Barefoot-esque platforms; including ASCIC, Adidas, Brooks, Saucony, Newtons, Merrell, Nike, and Hokas. Cons: --Always crowded with tourist traffic. Especially during Marathon season. But sometimes you see great runners in there. --Don't go there if you're in a hurry. Do yourself a favor and allow some time for them to scan your feet so that you can learn more about what kind of shoes you should be wearing to reduce aches & pains later in life. --Popular shoes & sizes run out quick, but they are usually replaced every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. read more

Great service--especially compared to the Foot Locker a few blocks away on 45th. Good prices, too. Each time I walked in, someone was available to help, and stepped up with the right balance of offering without being pushy. When I accepted the help, I gave her my size and she asked whether I wanted to go with that, or have her measure. So what the hell, I had her measure, and it turned out they do a 3D scan of your foot as well, to measure arch and so forth and ascertain individual needs. It showed my low arches, so she said high/strong arch in the shoe should be a top priority, and showed me several options, all at reasonable prices. (I eventually bought a pair of New Balance, and a Glycerin, each for $150). Also, she said I was 11EE, which they normally say, but then she said that actually I'm about midway between 11 and 11.5, and also midway between a regular and EE width, and different brands run a bit wider/longer on the dimensions, so depending on the brand, I should try various combinations. And he actually suggested started with bringing out four to have me try on several, and then went back for more. She also gave me good advice, and steered me away from a sale on ones that felt a bit snug. Eventually, they only had one pair I wanted in the size that would work, but ordered the other from a nearby store. It came two days later, I tried them on and bought them, too. The people who worked there did not look like runners we walked in,there were 4 workers just hanging out by the door - no one asked us if we needed help- we said loudly - "some things you just gotta spend a lot of money on and running shoes are one of those things" (we were excited to buy shoes)... we picked up a couple shoes ... kept talking about how we wanted to figure out what shoes were best .... STILL no one came over to us and we were in PLAIN sight of everyone ...eventually we spotted a foot analyzer and walked towards it and stood there for a few seconds .... still no one came over to us - I just said loudly let's go - and just as we were walking out the woman said -ohhh did u need something ?- we were in there for nearly 5 minutes - talking loudly about the shoes we wanted to buy.... in an empty store with multiple employees ignoring us doing nothing ! - I left furious ... you have one JOB!!!! Not sure why there are negative reviews. This place has great customer service. The staff was immediately attentive and knowledgeable as to what shoe I should get based on my specific needs. You can't beat a free foot scan or their price for custom orthotics (the latter of which I didn't get today, but may in the future). I came in looking for a nike shoe. They had one on sale. While I was trying them on, I asked if they sold insoles. I've needed orthotics but haven't wanted to shell out the $500 + at a podiatrist's office. Keith said they offer custom made orthotics. I looked up the material in which they are made and it is podiatrist recommended. Also the custom made orthotics were less than 1/2 the price I would pay at the Dr.'s office. On top of that they were ready before I left work that day at 6pm. I've been running on them for 3 weeks and I felt a difference after the 1st time I used them. I am so thankful for the excellent customer service and custom made orthotics. I can run longer and my body feels much better. Thank you! read more

I went in here with my boyfriend who desperately needed new running shoes and new everyday shoes. The guy who helped us was nice enough and had my bf walk so he could see if he pronates when walking, etc. We ended up spending over $200 on two pairs of shoes so it was a little pricey but I think worth it. I had started and stopped running a few times in the past because of pain or injury. I decided to get serious this time, and invest in a good pair of shoes. My feet were scanned and Edwin suggested three pairs of shoes. I was really impressed by Edwin's knowledge of the inventory, and which shoes would be best for me. He was super friendly and really cared about making sure that I ended up with a pair of shoes that would work for my body and my gait, with all of its quirks. He also suggested a pair of insoles, which helped to further stabilize my feet. I never felt pressured or that I was having unnecessary extras suggested. Every suggestion Edwin made was very thoughtful and tailored. I've been on a few runs with these shoes and I'm so happy and grateful to not have knee pain or shin splints.
