I recently visited this practice after being referred by my rheumatologist to evaluate a possible autoimmune rash. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The dermatologist Dr. Dehart did not perform any meaningful examination of my scalp or skin. Despite explaining twice that my rheumatologist needed dermatology to help rule out cutaneous lupus, the doctor repeatedly insisted that "lupus should have been diagnosed through bloodwork," which is medically inaccurate. Cutaneous lupus often requires visual evaluation or biopsy, not just labs. He did not part my hair, touch my scalp, or examine the area where my previous rash had been. I offered photos of the rash, and he glanced briefly and said he "couldn't tell," without offering follow up, options for monitoring, or guidance on what to do if it reappears. In addition, when I asked about hirsutism (excess facial hair), I was told there was "nothing that can be done," and that the medication had been discontinued, both statements that conflict with standard dermatological treatment options. He also incorrectly stated that insurance does not cover electrolysis, although my insurance (Tricare East) does in certain medical circumstances. Overall, I left the appointment with no examination, no plan of care, and no acknowledgment of my rheumatologist's request. This experience felt dismissive, rushed, and uninformed about dermatologic conditions on Black skin and textured hair. I will be seeking care elsewhere. read more

I have been seeing Pariser for a couple years now , for hyperhidrosis. Up until now , no issues . For 2 months both I and my pharmacy has been trying to get ahold ( at least twice a week ) of them to have my specialty medicine delivered . No return phone calls or emails to either of us in this time . This is very frustrating, as I am well over due for my medication now . read more

Pariser Dermatology Specialists are the best. I am so glad I got referred by friends, coworkers and my nurse practitioner. A few months ago I got a mole removed from my back which has been on my back since birth (a birth mark). They removed the mole that same very day. I have been seeing my dermatologist Dr. Buehler since February and she has such great knowledge and suggestions. I have taken them and have been very impressed and pleased overall. The entire Pariser team is so friendly and professional. Most recently, I have been seeing the esthetician Erin and I've enjoyed her energy, our chats and service. I had a good experience with Dr Buehler until I had to cancel an appointment. Then I wasn't able to schedule with her anymore and I was moved to Dr Dehart who has plenty of availability since he is the worst rated dermatologist in the Hampton Roads area. I was just passed along with no communication. I reached out to Dr Buehler and never got a response. Most would consider this patient abandonment but I guess they get around it by funneling patients to the worst one in the practice. Very shady practice. read more

Your wallet would be better served by avoiding this chain of dermatologists. Pay one bill and magically there is another. Pay that and "poof" another bill. I have been paying "the last bill" for months now. Called about the billing and found the staff unprofessional, condescending, and incapable of adequately describing their own billing. Once I hung up I almost immediately received another text about another bill. This place is purely a billing machine - once they know you can pay - lookout!! They will demand more. Pariser in Virginia Beach is one of the top dermatologists in this area. Dr. Buehler is an excellent doctor...very patient and thorough. I have had her husband (at their Suffolk Branch) remove skin cancer from my face and he is just as good as his wife. In person service was ok... they allowed us to switch to Intelederm online service when my son went to college. This has been the worst 3 months of customer service ever! How do you loose our online apt when you took our payment? Why is it 3 1/2 weeks later and I still do not have my sons medication refilled? Every month for the last 3 months I have gotten passed around from person to person and lost so much time trying to get a refill. This is basic stuff people. Since I understand there are sometimes issues that can be out of the employees control, I have come back in hopes of a smoother experience. However, this is the final straw. I would truly recommend ANY OTHER dermatologist if your kids medicine being refilled in a timely manner is important to you. Not to mention customer service that can actually fix a problem and not sent you to IT to fix the problem and string you along for 3 weeks without your child's medication. FIND ANYONE ELSE!!!! I love having all the doctors I need in Suffolk! I started seeing Pariser dermatology because I have vitiligo. I have almost 100% pigment loss. Being Caucasian it's not terribly easy to tell but the side affects of not having skin pigment are many. I can't go out in the sun for any length of time at all. Even a short walk from the parking lot to a store can result in sunburn. I was having a very hard time finding products that would protect my skin without irritating it. Even regular face wash will tear my skin up with normal use. The doctor here was great in recommending products that I've found to work well with little or no irritation. They also educated me on some laws that work in my favor to further protect me from the sun. I got a medical waiver that allows me to tint my windows on my car as dark as I like! The staff here is always professional and pleasant. I've rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen and phone calls are returned promptly. Excellent clinic! read more

In my 28 years of suffering with hyperhidrosis I have never had more knowledgable and caring doctors and practitioners! Amy Volkmann, the PA that has worked with me for almost two years has been patient, attentive, and extremely helpful, always wanting to help me try any treatment for this disorder that I would like and am able to, as there is no cure, but many different treatments. A person has to find the right treatment or combination of treatments for them! She has been very accommodating and patient in helping me find the right one for me! I have a long history of dermatological issues, mostly from the sun, and have gone to many dermatologists over my lifetime. But none were as thorough as Dr. Rob Baer! I live in Virginia Beach but now drive to Suffolk to see Dr. Baer. Whatever your issue or concern he will identify exactly what or if you have a problem, and will effectively treat it immediately with a empathetic and friendly demeanor. Some skin issues can be potentially fatal and I don't want a trial and error dermatologist. Take the drive to Suffolk! You won't regret it. And, the receptionist has the best customer relations skills I've ever seen! read more

I relocated to the area and needed to find a new dermatologist. I have had a history of basil cell skin cancer and know what signs to look for. I had a few areas that I was concerned with and set an appointment at Pariser Dermatology. When I went in I requested a full body exam. The doctor gave a very quick exam and told me that all the areas that I was concerned with were nothing but "age spots". I questioned him as they looked very much like areas that required surgery in the past. Again he insisted that they were nothing to be concerned about. I did not have a good feeling but knew I would be leaving the area in a few months and decided to just see a different dermatologist after I moved. After I returned to Arizona I made an appointment with a dermatologist here. They looked at the same areas and immediately took skin samples for a biopsy. The biopsy for all 3 areas (the same areas I pointed out to the doctor at Pariser) came back as having basil cell cancers that will require surgery. If I would have not followed up with another doctor who knows what the eventual outcome might have been. As it is the surgery will probably involve removing a larger area of skin to remove all the cancerous area. Pariser may have competent doctors but the one I saw was completely incompetent. read more

Went in for uneven skin tone. I specifically asked for a cosmetic specialist. The dermatologist I saw told me plainly he wasn't interested & he can write me a prescription for a bleach cream but it'd be "really" expensive. He then went on to tell me my hyper pigmentation is due to my perm. I don't have a perm! They then refused to refund my copay. Terrible service. You'd be better off using web md. read more

I came here for a routine checkup. A melanoma was subsequently found on me. Super grateful that got caught, but the removal process was a nightmare. First off, every appointment I've had has been with a different Dr./NP. During my surgery, the Dr. was sterile, but the "nurse" assisting him was not. Subsequently, my incision became infected. I ended up with all the stitches opening up and a big hole on my back. (My wound dehisced). I was told their rate of infection is 10% and I was just one of "those rare cases." Well, first off that is unacceptable. 10% is an extremely high infection rate. In addition, 10% is NOT rare. I found a plastic surgeon who is screening my moles with advanced technology and fixed my back thank goodness (I required a skin graft). Be wary of this group. read more

Went in for a skin cancer screening with Dr. Kevin Dehart. Dr. Dehart was hands down the best dermatologist I have ever visited. He was kind, friendly, thorough,listened, and explained things in easy to understand terminology. He told me everything he was doing and why he was doing it. I highly recommend this practice.
