I did not expect the outcome I received. After literally researching for hours on the net, making tons of phone calls and driving a total of almost 200 miles to and from other places that buy gold, I finally gave this place a try...because after all, ya never know. Prior visitations to other "reputable" establishments gave me cause to worry and be very leery to sell. One offer was for $690 the highest offer was $860. I gave "Park Avenue Gold Exchange" a shot. Mr. Roberts greeted me, showed me to his office and asked me what I would like for him to do. I handed him my items for his inspection. At this point I was sort of expecting him to look at the items as if I were trying to pull a fast one and was waiting for him to start judging me by inspecting me also. Nope, didn't happen. Truly professional and treated me with much respect. He then invited me into another room so that he can show me exactly what he is going to do to evaluate my items. He was open, honest, respectful and courteous the entire time. Now, I told you what I was offered by the other establishments. I was elated to hear what he offered me. So elated that I thought that I miss heard him and asked him to repeat it. $1600.00. I said are you kidding me?? He cracked a small smile and said no. After filling out the paperwork and waiting for the check...he said something to me that stuck out and I will not forget it. He said, "I'm a business man and I want to make money, but I'm not interested in ripping people off." I would hope that you "WILL" go somewhere else first to see what they would offer you, and then go to this establishment. The choice will be crystal clear as to where you should go. Mr. Roberts and his personnel were absolutely above all the industry standards and will show the same respect and fairness to all future potential customers as he has done to all his past customers. When I initially contacted Park Avenue Gold Exchange in Winter Park to make an appointment to have some jewelry appraised, I was met with the pleasant surprise of not having to wait--to in fact, come right down. This set the tone for the entire experience, which was wonderful. I was greeted in person at the door by a charming associate, who promptly made me feel right at home. She was a hard act to follow, but Christopher Roberts, the appraiser, in equal measure, showed the utmost respect for me as a new customer, and exhibited a kind of comfortable professionalism I wish all business owners would emulate more often. He discussed at length the items I had brought along, and he never one time pressed me to sell him a single piece; refreshingly, to the contrary. On occasion, he would recommend that I keep something and try to sell it for an even higher price at another venue, due to its intrinsic value as an antique, rather than to him for its lesser overall value as rare metal or a stone. To that end, Chris even made recommendations as to where I could best sell these items.This cemented my trust in his integrity, honesty, professionalism, judgement, and respect for me as a valued customer, who might one day wish to return. I actually had to press him for the most beneficial way to make public how pleased and taken care of I unexpectedly and delightedly felt as a new client. In short, this is the first place to which I would go in the future to have my jewelry, gems, coins, and/or watches appraised or bought outright. Park Avenue Gold Exchange exceeded my expectations! I was impressed with the professionalism of the office staff and the service received from Chris Roberts. I had some old, unwanted gold pieces and single gold earrings, I was looking to sell. I was given a 32% higher value on my gold than I received in a quote from what I perceived to be a reputable jewelry store in Winter Park. I went too two other places and they wanted to scrape gold off my bracelet to test it. I was not happy with that because i was not sure what price they would offer me and didnt want a scratched bracelet. Who would? Well these guys have some kind of fancy gold tester that tests the gold without having to harm the item. They also offered me a better price. Ten percent more for my bracelet was welcome news.
