This property is artsy and unique (borderline hipster but without the attitude), a picturesque haven in Manila. When you pass through the gates it's like you disappear into a South American drug dealer's hidden compound. Though I had a short stay I was impressed with many things. Of course, the decor. The way there were touches of Filipino culture incorporated into the rooms. The food at Apartment 1b, the onsite restaurant, was excellent. The service was always super helpful and polite, seemingly anticipating. The property itself had many lovely trees, flowers, etc. The pool area was relaxing and quiet. The suite itself was lovely. It felt like my own private escape, but with style. The AC was functional, the bathtub was spacious and relaxing. I had a few nights of really good sleep in total comfort. Though this hotel compound is in a borderline sketchy area, I felt completely safe and secure during my stay. There's a guard at the entrance to the compound that takes note of everyone coming and going. If you have someone picking you up, you can just notify the desk that you're expecting someone. Could not have asked for more. Bonus: it's pretty close to the airport, so good if you need to catch a flight.

Everything about the place was disorganized--from the condition of the room to the way the staff handled things. The service was frustrating and inefficient, and I felt like my time was completely wasted dealing with their confusion. To make things worse, they even attempted to charge me unfairly, which only added to the stress. Overall, extremely disappointing and not worth the hassle

In short, this hotel is the kind of place that looks good on the surface. It looks very clean and well-kept, and so first impression wise, I was looking forward to my stay in the hotel. However, even after spending just a few hours here, there were a few not-so-great things that I found under the surface: 1) The hallway outside the room, while it looked clean, had a very strong smell of vomit. No biggie, I'm not in the hallway too long, so I just rushed through it to get to my room 2) The shower had zero hot water. Instead, I was treated to a choice between cold, and slightly-less-cold water. Admittedly, while the shower was quite refreshing (especially given how hot and humid Manila is), I definitely would have preferred showering in water that is warmer than slightly-less-cold 3) While I was very glad the hotel had laundry room, there were only 4 sets of washers/dryers for the entire hotel to use, and half those washers/dryers were out of order. Furthermore, when I tried using one of the dryers, the dryer would not start the drying cycle. So after reporting it to the staff, I put my clothes in the only working dryer that was in the laundry room. For the 400 PHP price I paid to do laundry (approximately $7 USD, includes washer/dryer use plus a small amount of detergent and fabric softener - still on the pricier side for a load of laundry), I would have expected the machines to be a bit more in working order. 4) The biggest complaint that I had for this hotel was this. When night would fall, the room would become INFESTED with small cockroaches creeping all over the room. They would go into the safe, the fridge, and the desk, among other places. Heck, when I woke up randomly at 3AM that night, I would see a cockroach crawling on the bed literally 2 inches next to me while another one simultaneously crawled on the headboard. While I understand that the hot and humid climate of Manila does increase the frequency of cockroaches compared to where I live in the US, I've also stayed at much less expensive hotels/guest houses in the Philippines where I've never seen so many cockroaches freely crawling around the room. Seeing so many cockroaches in the confined space of the room left me feeling very paranoid throughout the entire night. The one positive from my stay is the fact that the staff is pleasant to interact with. During my laundry debacle, I had to go down to the front desk and annoy the staff multiple times, and each time they were very understanding and sympathetic to my complaints. With that being said, given all of my complaints, as of now, this hotel does unfortunately get the title of the "worst hotel I've ever stayed at."

The staff were very accommodating helping us from our cab with all our luggage. Check in was very friendly and inviting. Very streamlined and we were off to our room within 5 minutes. I really wanted a hot shower only to find the water to be cold. I called housekeeping and an engineer came up and said the water only gets a little warm. I've been to the Philippines many times and this as the first time "hot" water was just a touch about cold. Apparently that's the temperature they offer. Lost a point here. The breakfast room was beautiful and had every dish one could imagine. It was very well lighted and acoustically quiet. We had a nice buffet breakfast which included table service for drinks. All in all this is a nice, beautiful hotel and only our first night of a week here. I'm looking forward to our stay here. EDIT TO ADD - By letting the water run for at least 10 minutes it is eventually gets hot.

I'm fortunate to get hospitality industry rates so finding deals is never an issue for me. Prior to the trip, I researched online for available dates and they had them ending of April as Holy Week was already complete. While also completing a two week vacation in Bangkok celebrating Songkran Water Festival. I wanted to keep the Thai vibes going on ;-) Early Pro Tip. If ever Yelp is in Thailand, I would be racking up the First To Reviews on everything and everywhere I've gone to. Thailand uses other platforms such as TripAdvisor, Google as well as other social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and Facebook. Dusit Thani has many locations throughout the world including Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Guam, Singapore, Greece, China, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Egypt and Kenya. There is free parking, but why drive in organized chaos? The Philippines has all sorts of transportation options like Private Drivers, Jeepney, Grab/Taxi, also Light Rail! This hotel is soon to be ending its lease in Makati, while a brand new Dusit Thani will be relocated in San Juan City Greenhills. A 50 story multipurpose skytower will house Dusit Thani on the upper floors. This is very exciting as Metro Manila keeps build, build and building! Located in Ayala Center, Dusit Thani is set up right across the street from SM Makati, is also next door to OneAyala. Glorietta is also connected to The Landmark Mall as well as Greenbelt. If that's too much urban for you, you can take a break while walking around the lush gardens of Greenbelt avoiding sounds of the city to soothe your soul. The lobby is situated on the ground floor. Once checked in, you have easy access to several elevators which are controlled by your hotel room key so security is not only present at the Hotel front entrance, but also within the hotel. Was not able to use the Fitness Center as this was a quick overnight layover for transit. It's decent enough for a light workout, lots of cardio equipment, and a separate room for boot camp exercise. We also did not use the Spa as the majority of our vacation was in Thailand, spa services were done there. Makati can be very hustle and bustle, with serene hidden gardens, Filipino cultural experiences, in such a great urban destination like Manila. With countless eateries, shopping and basically lots of things to see around you. This location will keep you, your travelling group, or if with family members, well entertained and intrigued. Our room was a 1 Bedroom Executive Suite with a large king bed, bathroom was equipped with standup shower and tub, plenty of bathroom counter space, including a powder room upon entry. The bedroom had a cozy work desk, and the living room was furnished with a sofa, refrigerator and another television. We had breakfast buffet which was included with our reservation. This breakfast is grand including both Western & Filipino cuisines. Makati is very earth friendly so no plastic bottles were provided, instead a 2 pitchers were in the refrigerator saved for the coffee maker. The staff here was exceptional! They were courteous and friendly. Front desk also allowed a late check out upon departure as the flight home was scheduled later in the evening. If you come to Manila, it is a must to stay here!

Clean and spacious accommodates US and European plugs, USB and kind USB outlets as well. Bathroom complete with toothbrushes shampoos soap etc. two liters of glass bottled water. TV channel selection a little small but I get it. First time I ever watch MLB is Japanese! Pool etc... Large pool with two swim lanes for those who like to do that. Two tennis courts a decent size gym and an outdoor smoking area for those who smoke. The food... Lobby Lounge Service most times was excellent with a few gaps at times. Chicken Cesar was very good, decent amount-of chicken and just the right amount of dressing. The cheese burger was good as well. But if you have the time hit the sage grill for the Wagyu burger, much juicer and actually cheaper. Sage Bar... Nice interior and again super friendly and attentive staff. Wagyu burger with fries was very good. Cooked perfectly and was very juicy. A solid choice. I thought the burger was good but the pork belly was just as good. The apple marmalade was a great addition. Circles... Very large buffet that had all kinds of options. We usually went for breakfast but everything from eggs to sushi fish head and some regional dishes. Recommend to try some nee things as you can take a bite or two Really enjoyed this place while balancing work and exploring the area.

The location is near nice shoping and dining destinations. Some negatives.. Overall the hotel restaurants are too expensive . Shangri-La, you already got me with the room rates so let up on the dining prices. I suggest skip the fancy seafood buffet. It was ridiculous how you need to order a tiny lobster one by one and wait something like a half hour for it to be cooked. If you are a drinker like I am, stay away from the lobby piano and bar area. Service was too slow, drinks aren't stiff enough and the prices are too high. The swimming pool is on a roof which sounds cool but the sun was blazing hot. Not enough shaded seats. For that matter not enough seats in general. Also the cement around the pool is extremely slippery when wet. I slipped and almost threw a hip out trying to regain my balance. Be careful.
