    An evening at The Henry.

Tucked away from the chaotic streets of Manila is The Henry, a magical boutique hotel that harkens back to the city's colonial times. While passing through the compound's long driveway and being greeted by a row of restored post-World War II houses, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic for a past that I've only seen in old black-and-white movies and sepia-toned photographs. Once we reached the lobby, my companion and I took a quick tour around the 34-room boutique hotel. As we walked along the hotel halls, I couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfully designed interiors. Though the structure of the houses remains Old World, the interiors were definitely updated with respect to its era. It was a perfect marriage of the modern and the vintage. I definitely believe that guests with a keen eye for design will surely be in for a treat. Even looking down at the houses' original baldosa tiles is a visual feast in itself. The room we stayed in was a Classic Queen located on the second floor of one of the houses. Once we entered the room, high ceilings, dark wooden floors, huge windows and all the modern amenities any guest would expect out of a five-star boutique hotel greeted us. Our whole stay certainly was an unforgettable one. From the food, to the service, to the facilities, the Henry is truly like no other.

HITS. This hotel is located near the airport and Mall of Asia/Arena. It's a breath of fresh air within the busy streets of Manila. The old houses surrounded by lush greenery gives every guest a warm, nostalgic feeling. The room is exceptionally clean. 5-star service, well trained staff. MISS. The entire property is covered by tall trees thus, leaves are imminently falling into the pool area. It could be an option for the hotel to put a subtle roofing in the amenities. The entire visit is fantastic minus unavoidable traffic going in and out of the hotel.

    Print and pattern heaven.

Just around 15 minutes from Makati (without traffic) is a Tagaytay-like getaway: The Henry Hotel. Housed in a gated and walled up post-war compound with design from that era (love the Machuca tiles and old house grills) and updated with modern accents and amenities, spending a weekend here can recharge you so much that you end up feeling like you've just spent a weekend somewhere farther, fresher - somewhere not in chaotic Manila. And that's the best part: this is in Manila! Yup, right here in Manila is a quiet and detached haven seemingly built to intentionally make you slow down, to nourish your soul with good food, to make you just lie down and get the best sleep ever, to make you appreciate this city's history more, to make you appreciate and stay in the present.

There are only a few restaurants in Manila that deserve to be given a 5.0 and Apartment 1b is one of them. I absolutely loved the dishes we ordered, and the place, although small, was lovely. My sister and I visited this place for dinner. Situated inside the exquisite Henry Hotel, the restaurant boasted of elegant, timeless interiors complete with patterned flooring. The grilled blue marlin was one of the dishes that was recommended to us by their staff. It came with a serving of pesto in light cream, and garnished with onion, cucumber, eggplant, and tomato. The fish was extremely tender despite being grilled. Best eaten with crushed tomatoes. The spaghetti vongole was surprisingly pretty good too. The sauce was flavorful without being too overwhelming, and a little bit of chili was added for that unexpected kick. Tip: Be here before 3pm so you can try their breakfast specials!

I had a lovely 5 night stay here, before heading off to Iloilo. As others have noted, it's a refuge in a rather rundown and gritty part of Manila. The service was super polite, the food was good, and the ambience of the grounds is fantastic. Particularly the pool and garden area. There were some minor issues with operating the AC and TV, and in typical Philippine fashion, the internet speed is rather mediocre, but I will definitely be back at some point this year. Salamat!

Awesome place to stay highly recommended, would definitely come back again the staff where outstanding to us and the food is out of this this world

They also serve homegrown coffee. Check out some of their witty packaging. You'll fall in love with place too.

Nestled like a gem in the heart of the Jungle, Metro Manila we've discovered Henry Hotel -Manila (which is actually the sister of the artsy boutique hotel The Henry - Cebu). This diamond in the rough can be the place to go when you wish to grab a short reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city without the back-breaking drive to the nearest out of town site, and without a bank-breaking rate per room for an overnight staycation. Entering the compound, you'll see five ancestral houses transformed to a boutique hotel serving bed and breakfast fare to Manila and Tourists. Seeing the facade and rooms, I fell in love with restoration done. The entire experience made us want to live here. The service actually resembles closely the comforts of home which is rare with other hotels. I can't wait for another long weekend to come back.

The hotel is located next to a large mall. We got to the hotel at about 9pm and were ready to check in quickly and get a good night of sleep. There was nobody waiting at the check in desk, but the process was extremely slow-- I am not sure if it was the front desk computer or the key system. After some time, our keys were finally ready and we were escorted to our room. The room was nicely appointed, although the room felt tight. We did have an amazing view of the water, unfortunately the view was skewed due to the construction going-- unfortunately the construction will be going on for a while. We were also disappointed with the finishings in the room, they seemed a bit outdated and worn. Given this is a Conrad hotel, we expected the quality of the room to be higher. Also, the room did not have a bathtub. The room did have a nice size shower that was a bit complicated. Despite the room being small and outdated, the bed was excellent. The bed was extremely comfy with nice fluffy blankets. The hotel does have a nice pool. The pool is very clean. We were at the hotel off season-July, so the pool was not too crowded. The pool is small so I could imagine the pool be super busy and perhaps a lack of chairs during busy times. The hotel also has a nice gym on the first floor. The gym is appointed with a good amount of equipment. The equipment is nicely spaced to provide room to move around. As diamond members we were offered breakfast in the lounge or in the restaurant. The restaurant has a large buffet for breakfast, so we elected to eat there-- best to go super early before the restaurant gets busy. During prime time, you may have to wait for a seat. We were fortunate to grab a seat with a view. The restaurant offering were wonderful. As diamond members we were offered a special menu. The special menu offered special drinks and food items. All of this is included in a menu. The buffet was nice, but the service could be better- drink orders took a while. Plus, tables around us were not cleaned readily. We did not like having our breakfast and looking at dirty dishes. On the executive floor, there is also a small executive lounge that is offered to gold and diamond members. They offer breakfast, snacks and happy hour. Lastly, the hotel offers good security. When you arrive, they check your car. Plus, you have to go through additional security when you walk into the lounge.

The other value-added service here is the car pickup from MNL to this hotel. Its the cheapest around about 1100 Phil. pesos round trip (about $22). A person shows up at the airport by baggage claim with your name on a sign, just like a regular limo service. The car is an economy car unless you want to limo. That costs more of course. You can book through the travel desk at this hotel (a 3rd party company) to the right of the checkin desk. Or email the hotel ahead of time. It takes about 24 hours to confirm your airport pick up. Verdict: Enjoyed it for an overnight stay. Will use again if i come in on a late night flight and leaving the next morning. A little bit of refreshing goes a very very long way and it's definitely good for the traveling spirit. Specially when you have another flight at 0810. An airconditioned shuttle to and from the hotel is provided and is complementary. The spacious Suzuki people carrier came to pick us up that night. The driver greeted us warmly and even helped us with our bags. Upon arrival to the hotel, two bell employees helped unload the van and helped us carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs and escorted us to our room. The rooms had two beds (one single, one full), air-conditioning unit, a fridge, two chairs and a little table and a window. It also has a bathroom with hot shower, a toilet, and a sink with a mirror. This hotel is hella complete as far as I'm concerned. If you're looking for a posh place to stay, then I suggest you shell out posh hotel money. Other than that this place is all I need and plenty more. I had a great short night stay here. Thank you very much Siayan Hotel for a quick night stay. I'll probably see you again next time.

Plus, as a diamond member I typically stay at Hilton hotels. As a diamond member we were provided access to the executive lounge which was useful while we waited for our room to be ready and after check out. Plus provides an opportunity to bypass the normal check in, which is great during busy times. The lounge is offered to gold star members and above. I would have rated this hotel a 5 star experience but had some hipcups. First of all- we requested in advance early check in. When we arrive several hours ahead of check in- we noticed they could not accommodate this request immediately. They said the room would be ready shortly, so we waited. We assumed that they would prioritize our room in preparation and be ready within an hour. After waiting an extensive amount of time, we learned that the wait would be several hours. We felt mislead and frustrated. We could of spent this time doing something in manila rather than waiting in the lounge. When it came time to check out- we asked for a late check out due to our flight departure time-- We learned that they could not accommodate this even though I was a diamond member-- As a diamond member they typically offer a 2pm check out. Given that the hotel was not sold out that day, I believe they could of provided this to us. Lastly, I had to request an upgrade- normally Hilton offers me an upgrade due to my status. Beyond my customer experience- the lounge was not well managed. The lounge was very loud-- kids screaming. Large families coming in-- usually lounge is limited to how many per a room/reservation can come in. Guest were on their phone and their ipads-extemely loud. I find this funny, as when I checked in the desk told me about what clothes are acceptable for the lounge but noise level is acceptable???? Due to these poor customer service experiences, I downgraded the number of stars provided to this hotel. Customer service is everything- be up front with your guest. On the positive side- The room was very clean and nicely appointed. The waitress in the lounge went out of her way to provide me fresh orange juice when it was not fresh juice squeeze day. The employees at the pool bar were excellent- great customer service.
