Green Community

This is my second year at Park Central Apartment. The community is very good, lot of restaurants near by, farmers market every Saturday and most importantly ample parking spots. The front desk people are very friendly and almost always the maintenance requests are handled the same day. The front desk arranges a lot of games nights/pool parties/breakfast grabs which is pretty cool I feel, never experienced this in my previous locality. They have now even started a printing service to allow printing of upto 20 pages which is pretty cool. The only issue I feel here is the squirrels, crazy amount of squirrels climbing up into my patio and destroying my flower garden for the third time now. No way to get rid of that issue.

This is what the stairwell has looked like for over a month. Just sayin'...

Here's the deal. The apartments are actually quite nice inside, and I've never had a problem with the actual apartment itself. The maintenance men are very helpful and hardworking. Now, as far as the complex as a whole... where do I start? I'll keep this short: There's virtually NO VISIBLE security present at night, which leaves you (the tenant) responsible for resolving nearby noise issues. Wow, that sucks. The greatest amenity... in my opinion... the hot tub is usually broken once a week for GOD KNOWS WHAT REASON. It's a refreshing thought for it to be 8 o'clock at night and want to go mellow out in the hot tub, when, to your surprise, the hot tub is not only closed but there's no water in it. Over and over again I've been met with disappointment with this. Figure it out already. Thirdly, the staircases are not kept up at all! Sure the grass is cut and the leaf blowers clean up the parking lots, but the stairs and corridors and dirty, stained, sticky, old-newspaper-laden. It's as if management tells maintenance to only function at ground-level. I just feel like a few simple steps could REALLY make this place 5-star. But, the consistently raised rent demonstrates that quality of life and thorough cleanliness ranks second to making a profit. Simple things like EXPLICITLY LABELING which area is trash and which is recycling. The trash dumpsters are usually filled with cardboard and glass bottles. Isn't recycling important? Especially in the Silicon Valley? Bottom line, when it comes down to being INTENTIONAL and COMPLACENT, I'd say Park Central has fallen complacent. But... there's always hope.

I wish I could write a better review but I'm so disappointed by what was previously a great place to rent. The buildings are quite dated and the updates that have been made are of the cheapest quality. The old carpeting in the buildings was replaced last year...we all thought what had been placed was the liner and the installation people would be returning to lay the actual carpet. No...the carpet is just that thin and it causes sound to reverberate through the halls. The vinyl flooring in some units is cheap quality and poorly installed, so that it's constantly lifting. They continue to permit cigarette smoking on patios and balconies, and public areas around the site, which means there's smoke coming in through the windows, patio/balcony doors, and vents, regardless of whether you smoke. The complex spent three years and a lot of money to update the property, with the pool and hot tub, bbq area, and clubhouse were all unavailable during this time. The big reveal after all the work reflected that the only thing changed for residents was a nicer bbq area. The pool and hot tub, and all the chaises, tables, and umbrellas are the same that have been there since my initial residency. The clubhouse, which is only open during the management's working hours (unless reserved for a private event), is gorgeous but the main change is a remodel of the office space. The management and facilities staff are the only people who use the "clubhouse," and in great part due to the hours it's accessible as well as the fact that whenever someone goes in there, it feels as if you're interrupting the office staff having their breaks, hanging out and snacking, etc. All the parking spots were redesignated this past year as "assigned" spots, in a clear attempt to increase income for the management company. Residents must pay an additional fee monthly to reserve a spot, covered or not, and there are virtually no unassigned spots for additional resident cars or guests. The office staff regularly "patrol" the parking area for parkers who aren't "registered" and when discovering someone, send an email blast to the entire community calling out the car's identifying details and threatening to have the vehicle towed within a certain number of minutes if it's not moved. During weekends, the Springwood staff tend to park in the spots reserved for "new residents." Management sends email frequently admonishing residents that they've "been told" they cannot have anything on their balconies/patios, hallways, lobbies, etc. as if the residents are young children. I don't like when people break rules meant to ensure people's enjoyment of their rented home either, but there's a way to do this respectfully and a way to make people feel bad. When there are problems with the laundry room machines, the office staff will not assist. The response is that they haven't been trained on how to use the equipment or its software and residents have to contact the vendor (which never seems to result in a response). A dryer has been non-functional for months but despite numerous requests, the management staff have done nothing to ensure that it's repaired or replaced. With only 4 washers and 4 dryers per building, having one out of order creates a difficult situation for residents trying to do their laundry. On the plus side, the maintenance staff are without exception friendly and responsive. The apartments are in a great location and the people living there are generally quite nice, but there are few amenities and the management staff sometimes make residents feel like interlopers.

My workplace is…read moreclose-by, and sometimes after lunch we walk through the outside ring parking to reach Middlefield and return to the office. Today, two of us were walking through chatting, and a Meadows property manager/worker yelled at us from across the parking lot, maybe 40 yards away, asking who we were. Thinking he had mental issues or a salesman, we kept walking. He then approached and harassed us, screaming about how we were trespassing, continuing verbal abuse and harassment and followed us until we left the property. We talked quietly, did not approach anyone, hang door tags, play music, or toss trash. We didn't go into the center apartment area. We're both computer professionals. This employee could have gotten on his golf cart and quietly told us sorry we cannot walk thru his parking lot and to kindly exit the premises. Instead, he chose to yell threateningly across a parking lot and come after us with verbal abuse. A good way to judge apartment management is how they treat visitors. Because as residents, you're going to get more of that - or worse. Stay away from this complex.

Meadows is very safe and it's also in a good location - it is right off of Central expressway and it's close to 237 and 101. Apartment was spacious as well. I also thought the gym was great and bigger than a lot of other apartment gyms so amenities as good here. There is a community pool as well. The management company was very responsive with service requests. We had an issue where the central AC was spewing out dead bugs so the maintenance team quickly came in and gave us a new AC. Meadows also hosts some events every couple months (coffee station, Easter egg hunt, food trucks, etc.) which made the apartment complex feel more like a community. One of the drawbacks about this complex is the lack of natural light in the some of the apartments. Because of all the tall redwood trees and the direction of our apartment, we didn't get much light. For the most part, we had our lamps turned on all the time. And because of the trees, leaves would fall into our balcony so we had to frequently clean that up. We decided to leave once the lease was up as we found a place with more natural light closer to our offices and meadows was going to increase the rent by $250 a month. If it wasn't for the light situation, probably would have continued to stay here. Overall I enjoyed living here, and if you are ok with less natural light or you are able to get an apartment facing the right direction, then I recommend!

The apartment is very close to the valley fair mall which I liked. The leasing staff is very responsive and friendly. I particularly interacted a lot with Alexander and the nice janitor guy, and they were both very pleasant to work with. I lived on the 4th floor and had no issues with break-ins and noises, but I cannot speak for lower floors. I did notice a couple of homeless people starting to sleep outside the 1st floor parking garage, but I think it's impossible to keep them completely gone. Security patrols are usually always going around, so I never felt unsafe. One thing I wish I didn't have to deal with is a skater guy who screams at people and picks fights across from McDonalds. He yells and jumps in front of cars multiple times a day and causes a scene, and I wish I didn't have to hear him scream for hours on end as a remote worker. Other than that, I was pretty happy with Cobalt. I had to move to Mountain View to be closer to work, and now I live at Hadley, but I surely miss Cobalt!

BE AWARE OF ANTS IN THIS APARTMENT!!!…read more We moved here in August 2025. Everything went fine and we even already renewed our lease, but just recently ANTS started to appear massively in our unit. I'm very particular about the cleanliness, so I'm pretty sure our unit is clean as we do the dishes immediately, take out the garbage daily, and clean the floor weekly. Ants started to appear since around last month in our bathroom. At first, we did reach out to the leasing office, and they sent the pest control team. However, the pest control team said they could only spray some chemicals into our units to eliminate the ants, but it won't be a permanent solution and ants will reappear over the whole summer - June to October. Once the ants find a trail to your unit, they will find you again and again. The pest control team suggested not to use chemical spray and just use some cleaning liquids to kill the ants and wipe them out. I asked them if they would do the apartment-wide pest control. They said they would do it, but it WON'T keep ants from coming, and there's NOTHING more they can do about it. We used the cleaning liquids and wipe the ants out afterwards. Also since the leasing office and the pest control team seemed to be passive about this problem we felt like we could only deal with this ourselves. We decided to buy the ant gel and planned to seal the gap. However, before we got the gel, we've observed that ants appear more, more consistently, and in different places - in our bathroom, living room, and even bedroom. We're still contacting the leasing office. We wish we could find a better solution soon.
