I wouldn't recommend this apartment, mainly because of the location. The neighborhood feels unsafe, especially at night, and there's constant traffic noise at all hours. Sirens, honking, and loud engines make it hard to sleep or even relax during the day. I think it is because it's located right across from several abandoned plazas such as the old Hokkodai Japanese Buffet and the old Garden City which is all flooded with RVs and an entire homeless community now. This homeless community causes a lot of disturbance on the daily from loitering, package theft and constant car break ins. If you value quiet, safety, or a sense of community, this is probably not the place for you. I regret not spending more time checking out the neighborhood before moving in. read more

I would not recommend renting at this apartment complex. For the high price they charge, you'd expect responsive management and a well-maintained property--but that's far from the experience here. Maintenance requests take weeks (or longer) to get addressed, and management is dismissive whenever you bring up legitimate concerns. The apartments here are massively overpriced for what you actually get--outdated appliances, thin walls, and maintenance that seems to take forever to show up. What's worse is the management. The manager seems more interested in finding new ways to nickel and dime residents than actually improving the property. I lived at Cobalt for a whole year and recently moved out. I am simply compelled to write this review because I really enjoyed my first year in the bay area at Cobalt. The apartment is very close to the valley fair mall which I liked. The leasing staff is very responsive and friendly. I particularly interacted a lot with Alexander and the nice janitor guy, and they were both very pleasant to work with. I lived on the 4th floor and had no issues with break-ins and noises, but I cannot speak for lower floors. I did notice a couple of homeless people starting to sleep outside the 1st floor parking garage, but I think it's impossible to keep them completely gone. Security patrols are usually always going around, so I never felt unsafe. One thing I wish I didn't have to deal with is a skater guy who screams at people and picks fights across from McDonalds. He yells and jumps in front of cars multiple times a day and causes a scene, and I wish I didn't have to hear him scream for hours on end as a remote worker. Other than that, I was pretty happy with Cobalt. I had to move to Mountain View to be closer to work, and now I live at Hadley, but I surely miss Cobalt! read more

Ok, let's start with some background. My husband was on the military so we've moved quite a bit. We've lived in a few states before coming to California a couple years ago. I also worked in Property management at a luxury apartment. I currently live in an apartment right now that claims to be luxury. But the only thing luxurious about them is the new appliances and new building. I've lived at Cobalt for two years and let me say you get what you pay for. This is hands down the best apartment I've lived at. Cobalt checks all the boxes. You put a maintenance request in and somebody's in your apartment within 10 to 30 minutes. The hallways are clean and clear. The trash room is properly managed st all times, if somebody puts garbage in there within a couple hours it's gone. I've never seen garbage in the garbage room and come back 24 hours and it's still there. They keep this place so well. The staff in the leasing office is always in a good mood, if they are having a bad day nobody knows, I don't even think they know. They've change a few people over the course of the time that I've lived here but there's no break in the information you don't have to continuously explain yourself to new people. I just moved out about three weeks ago and I will be moving back. It was really sad for me to move because now that I am at my new apartment I realize you get what you pay for with cobalt and even though my new apartment claims to be luxury, they just don't have the customer service or the service part down. Cobalt is a bit pricey but you can appreciate their attention to detail. Especially in todays world where nobody cares about giving you good customer service. I have some of the best memories here. These apartments are community-less places that hold you hostage over rent. Initially, our 2br 2ba was nice and pleasant. After trying to deal with them at lease end and during a quarantine where everything is shut down, I have to revise my review. While the staff tries their best, but they have to speak to you in off-the-record type deals (with nothing ever written down) and fall short of their promises. Beyond that, if there's a question of retaining a good tenant, they don't care and would rather get someone else in. At the end of a one year lease during a quarantine when all amenities have been shut down and rental market is down ~14% in the area, Cobalt suggested a 1.2% rent reduction which amounted to about $70. That was around $4100, still (not including parking). After some discussion they assured me that my unit is extremely sought after and even if I do early termination it would likely have tenants ASAP. This "hot" apartment is still on the market with the price being lowered here and there after our lease ended. There was no attempt to sweeten the pot for someone else to move in either. I am not naive enough to think that Prometheus cares about me as a tenant, but I would hope that the local management would try and help find someone to take the lease on the early termination period. On the last day-- when we were moving out-- our downstairs neighbor came to say "hello" for the first time since we were there and also to complain about the noise. This is the same neighbor who instead of talking to us would rather file unending complaints with management and smack the ceiling with her broom. Oftentimes, we were either already being quiet or cooking dinner quietly, and got a call or notice later. If you're willing to throw stupid money at a place for a long while for an alright place with nice amenities, this may be for you. Beware the: - false niceties from management (e.g. "boy have we a deal for you! We love you as our neighbor! Here's a consolation prize of: forcing you out with no negotiation!") - neighbors who won't look you in the eye or say hello (happen to me and my partner) - people leaving trash in the trash rooms-- literally open plates with food garbage on the ground. Despite there being cameras no one is ever held accountable. - no negotiation when it comes to rent - sadly: homeless folk hanging outside on the back roads in the middle of the night. For all of these reasons: I have to provide a one star review after living there. If I had to recommend somewhere to live to a friend, I would highly recommend spending - third or fourth less of the cost of these apartments and instead go with somewhere more sensibly priced, or rent a house! I don't regret my stay but would never do it again! Shout outs to the hard working maintenance folk and maids. Renter Beware, I cannot recommend this property. Cobalt Apartments (Prometheus properties) is a new and beautiful building. However, the corporate management prevents the property from being the best it can be. Corporate will do everything for marketing and the minimum for the tenants. The building staff is very nice and professional but its the corporate office that puts up a firewall between the tenants and them. The puppet masters at corporate prevent any bad news from getting out. Today, there was an attempted break-in through the window of a unit on the first floor at noon while there was a resident in the apartment. The police were called and a report was filed. However, the management told the tenant not to post the incident on the building posting site for the other neighbors to read. Safety of the tenants are not the priority, marketing is and this is just dangerous for the tenants safety. During the past two years, there has been one apartment break-in plus the one attempt today, numerous bike locker break-in's with thefts, car break-in's, a motorcycle theft from the parking garage and the mail room was broken into to include mailboxes. The building manager is part time (this is not shared with you upon renting) as the week is split between two properties, normal questions are delayed a day or two if they cannot be answered by the front office staff. Repair and cleaning people are also split between buildings and daily walkthroughs are not accomplished. Multiple generations of stray cats continue to dominate the property and urinate on first floor patios and patio furniture. Tenants continue to feed the spraying cats and management is prevented from taking corrective actions. The hallways are not cleaned for days, up to a week. A pet accident goes uncleaned for days in the elevator or hallway. Weekly, the trash room is overflowing (see photo) and the trash odor permeates the hall. The outside apartment windows have no cleaning schedule. I lived here for a year and a half before my window was cleaned for the first time. Overall cleanliness can be much improved to include the parking garage, common hallways, scuff marks on the building exit/entrance doors. Guest parking continues to be a problem with non-consistent enforcement. The tenants have notified management for the past year and a half with lackluster results. The tenant continues to feel ignored. I cannot recommend this property. read more

The place is the cleanest I've ever lived in, they have fun activities for the residents (even during Covid! We just had a zoom painting party) and maintenance requests are looked at right away. I wanted to wait to write my review until I had lived here for a bit. I have now lived at Cobalt for just over a year and I am still loving it! This is my 3rd apartment in the Bay Area and by far the best of the 3. I was only in the other apartments for less than 6 months and had awful experiences with rude staff, missing/stolen packages, secured buildings not being secure, constant alarms etc. Pros: - friendly, helpful, and caring staff (front office and maintenance) they really go above and beyond! - nice new building and amenities - safe quiet neighborhood to walk with your dog or kids - conveniently located near highways and shops - secure garage and mail room - guest parking (with clear, well explained policies) - haven't personally had issues with package theft, alarms, overly noisy neighbors and other common apartment issues I have faced elsewhere - fun community events organized by the office! Cons - I live on the first floor and my parking spot is on the 4th. I have been trying to get a closer spot since I moved in - Some neighbors can break apartment rules or leave trash around, but this seems to happen in all apartments and is always dealt with quickly by management here I think the noise you deal with from neighbors will vary based on your apartment location and specific neighbors, but the walls here seem very thick to me and noise between walls has never been a problem. My current upstairs neighbor walks louder than the previous one, but as these apartments all have hard flooring I wouldn't expect it to be silent. Still much better than most apartments I have lived in. I am very happy to be able to call Cobalt home for another year! To the review that is upset about being towed - there are clear signs hanging in the garage with the policy and your friend would have been informed of the rules upon move in. We all have the ability to print guest parking passes or request one from the office. If your friend did not prepare properly for your visit that is on them not the office. There is also free street parking that can be utilized should you have issues printing a parking pass. read more

I lived 2 years at cobalt and I think its a good time to leave a review! First of all I am so surprised to not see any reviews regarding the car and home break ins at cobalt, I have got stuff stolen from my car twice while parked in the gated parking! And have seen people reporting break ins to their apartments on the internal portal. The first year at cobalt was great, apartments looks nice, really good amenities, prices were convenient, but then the second year they increased the rent almost 20%. Feels like you are paying for living in San Francisco but in Santa clara! I am on the 4th floor and have been notified of noises from my apt, and when I stated I am out most of the time and might be my cat they suggested me to get rugs for my apartment as sounds travel easier on wood than carpet!! Really? Then why I am paying this much to have wood floors?! One more thing, the apt doors works with fob keys and if you get locked out more than once, you will be charged 50$ for getting you back in! And yes, having an extra fob key is not an option. And I am sure that has happened to multiple tenants multiple times. The one star is for the staff that are so nice and responsive when you need help and maintenance. And apartments are mostly brand new and clean and it comes with good amenities. But don't let that fool you, think twice before moving in. read more

Totally regret renting a place here. During the pandemic all amenities were closed so felt pretty trapped and isolated. Even before the pandemic there wasn't very much culture in the area. The only thing in walking distance is car dealerships. When the pandemic hit they offered the bare minimum in support to those financially affected. The best they could offer was a smaller apartment, but who wants to move during a pandemic? The community message board was full of complaints and I didn't really see anything being addressed. While I lived there a few bikes were stolen from the bike room in the middle of the day. I also had a few strange encounters with people trying to get into the building through the parking lot. At move out the inspection person was late. He did a very quick walk through the place told me I'd need to pay for a professional to repaint. When I told him I didn't think that was necessary as I barely lived there a year his responses was "You can afford it". Doesn't seem like a good reason to me. I reached out to the team about this but they're insisting I cover the unnecessary cost. Learn from my mistake. Your money will go a lot farther some place else. read more

I am so happy to have found this apartment. The staff here is amazing. Beto and Kamaile are two of the most friendly and helpful people. They are also really on top of things, and when you need something or have a question, it always gets done. Previously, I have lived in buildings before with difficult landlords or maintenance, and it is a dream to have such pleasant management. The maintenance department is also really wonderful to work with. I had a couple small things I just wanted to get checked out when moving in. There was no fuss, they sent over Junior the same day to look at it/touch it up. What an awesome guy and so knowlegable! The ease of these things are proof to me it's going to be a great next year here at this building. My personal apartment unit is fabulous. Exactly what I needed- quality wise, comfort level, and the design and finishes make me smile. I mean every morning a shower with marble tile, how can it not!? The pool, jacuzzi, fitness center, lounge area with the ping pong table, movie theatre, etc is all amazing. I can tell that the people who designed this building really thought how they can make something that's contemporary and high-quality. It has a hip, yet comfortable and sophisticated appeal. I also love the emphasis they use on being a Neighbor and the giant sign in the lobby that says "I Am Home." So welcoming, and honestly-- for a person who had moved around quite a bit before this place-- very relieving to me to finally have settled. One last note, is the welcome day of moving in, was absolutely wonderful. Beto gave me a thorough run down of the building and we took care of all the details to get me set up. I was extra lucky, because the day i happened to move in was a Breakfast event for the whole building! That meant, i had a mimosa, fresh bagel, fruit, and coffee! Talk about a fabulous start! I lived there around two years ago and it was definitely not a good experience. Pros: 1. relatively new building 2. Great location. It is situated between Santana row and Cupertino. Very close to both and the neighborhood in the back with the residential houses is a good place to take your dog on a walk. Cons NOISE&BAD LEASiNG AGENTS 1. The ceiling and the flooring are ABSOLUTELY useless in containing ANY type of noise. I could hear so so clearly EXACTLY where my upstairs neighbors was walking at all time. And if you don't live on the first floor and have a neighbor that is overly sensitive of sound and won't stop harassing you by banging on your floor, then it will be hell because the management won't help you and will ask them to report you to the security patrol first saying that it is "company policy" that needs to be followed. Also, they literally have zero empathy about the situation and think that its the tenants problem. I know that I am not the only unit that faced this noise problem. My overly sensitive to sound downstairs neighbor actually came to my door and DEMANDED that I must wear slippers and not walk around too loudly late at night or she will call the police. Mind you, I am a female that weigh 110lbs literally walking normally in my apartment, like do I need to tiptoe in my own freaking apartment? I found out that she began knocking on my floor(her ceiling) every time I normally walked around, I've lived in so many apartments and nothing like this has ever happened. I bought a security camera and it recorded the whole banging situation one day and I reported it to the manager there and got a call for the terrible agent, Carla, that was dealing with the situation at the time saying that they can only tell me that the person downstairs is moving away and can say absolutely nothing more on it. In the past, when I told her I felt unsafe of the downstairs neighbor she was very defensive and mean about it, basically saying don't think about getting out of this lease because "you feel uncomfortable". When I asked for her supervisors name, she actually refused to give me that name. Thinking back this was so crazy. Thank god I live in a much better apartment now. Also the time I was there, the leasing agents there kept changing. 2. BREAK IN. There was more than twice that I can remember of reports of cars being broken in from the garage, an apartment had tech stuff being stolen, I saw a whole group of cops and cop cars one day at the garage door seemingly waiting for someone. The team members are great especially david kim and Brandon who helped me out on anything I needed and always making sure to let you feel home ! Parking is great ! The building is very secure! Neighbors is great ! It's a noise reduction walls and windows so i didn't hear the traffic or the neighbors like I used to hear in other places I lived, appliances is great big enough and doing the job , amenities is great and luxury! Update: my husband and I did not renew our lease at Cobalt because we moved out of the Bay Area. If we weren't moving out of the area, we probably would have renewed. There are many things I miss about our place at Cobalt: quiet unit with a view of birds and trees (which our cats loved), high ceilings and modern appliances, friendly staff, and lastly the Amazon lockers. However, there are some things I don't miss: the smell of garbage in the hallway, the cost of rent (wow, very expensive), cold and antisocial neighbors, and the fact that they don't clean the exterior of the building (windows), unless it's visible to the public/future tenants. Our move-out was quite smooth. They give you a checklist of what to do. Since we lived there for 3 years, we didn't have to pay for painting. We cleaned the unit ourselves and when they came in to inspect the unit, there were a few extra things we had to do but we made sure to do it and our deposit was returned with no issues. Even after we moved out, we had some questions about our deposit and Ashley (the manager) was very helpful and kind in responding to our email. While some things declined during Covid (such as no amenities/infrequent cleaning in the common areas), I still give them five stars because I know the staff work really hard and do their best. Many of the decisions regarding window cleaning and maintenance has to do with corporate and how the allocate funds as well as protecting staff against the pandemic. read more

I lived in Cobalt for two years from Sept 2016 - June 2018. This is by far the best Apartment I have lived in!! The gym, heated pools, the free Tuesday-Thursday gym classes (don't know if they still have that going). It's situated in a very central location with grocery stores, Santana row, Cal train station all accessible within a 2 mile radius. San Tomas, I-280 and I-101 are all located close by, so my work commute (to Mountain View) in the morning was not bad at all! The management Betho, David, Brandon, Kayla (some of whom don't work here anymore) were super friendly and always ready to help! The apartment was very clean, very friendly neighbors! Never had any issues. The reason I moved out was because I moved closer to the city (although I still live in a Prometheus owned property which is equally good if not better) The only con is the rent is on the pricier side which is which was outweighed by the apartment quality, amenities and cleanliness. read more

I love living at Cobalt! I moved across the country for work and didn't really know what I wanted/needed in an apartment that I would both live and (sometimes) work in, but have felt supported by all of the staff in this office every step of the way... even when I decided that I wanted to downsize! Not only that, but Cobalt was one of the only complexes that made me feel like my puppy was not only allowed, but welcome. From someone who doesn't have kids, having a happy pet is about the most important thing to me in a home! No complex is perfect, and every building/complex has its flaws, but the management at Cobalt is always kind and flexible in addressing these issues and trying to meet everyones' needs and expectations. I had an issue with my oven that required a replacement part, and they took care of this as quickly as possible and kept me updated throughout the process. Not only that, but I see employees cleaning the common areas to keep them clean and beautiful every single day, which is so appreciated! I have never once felt like my questions or concerns were not of utmost importance to the staff here. As a side note, when touring this apartment for the first time, I was pretty sold on the fact that the giant fans they use in their gym come from a business in my hometown :) read more

This is a fabulous place to live if you do not mind the cost. However, I feel it is worth it! The apartments are beautiful inside with high ceilings, lots of light and great layouts. Though some are small the amount of storage they have built in is phenomenal. The amenities are also top notch. They offer free workout classes twice a week with a great instructor Jay. The workout facility is very nice and well kept. There is also a great movie room and business room. The pool and rooftop deck are key places to use. It is great to sit and relax in the wonderful areas. All of the decor around the common areas is beautiful. The staff is lovely to work with, they truly care about your well-being and are always super helpful! If you have a dog this is great place to come! It backs up to a neighborhood that is wonderful to walk through with lots of trees and grass. Cobalt also has an awesome dog washing room, which is by far the coolest amenity. They have huge wash station tubs and a drying station. It makes giving your furry friend a great spa treatment! Overall Cobalt is by far the best place I've ever lived!!! read more

Gilbert, the handyman, is wonderful. He's fun to talk to and does a great job. He often comes back to the apartments during his off hours in order to fix emergencies. This guy needs a raise. BEST PLACE TO LIVE! We've been living here for 7 months and you can't beat the amenities, community, the floor plans and especially the people. The entire team is FANTASTIC and we love working with them. We are always taken care of and they go above and beyond to make sure we feel at home. Our apartment is beautiful along with all of the community areas. They've literally thought of everything to make your stay special and convenient (also for your pets too!) . I love bragging about how kickass our complex is! We found this place while under construction early 2016, we have had no issue with the construction and don't mind it at all. All of the Prometheus properties are clean and top notch and completely modernized. No security issues either. I would recommend this place to anyone AND it's in a great location near everything. Living at Cobalt apartments has been a rollercoaster ride personally for me. Thanks to the management Jacq & Justin, they have been patient and accommodating to my requests. Kudos to the maintenance experts! Gilbert and Sam have been really going above and beyond fixing any problems that you might have. Sink clogged? No problem. Car Issues? No Problem. They will be at your doorstep to fix it right away with a positive attitude! I'm glad that I have chosen and extended my lease with Cobalt apartments despite the myriad of choices out there. Some of which might look great as a facade but none of which I could related well with Cobalt. Overall, I would recommend! Let me begin by saying that we stayed in 3 different Prometheus Properties in the past 3 years, but Cobalt hands down takes the cake in terms of maintenance and overall quality. Such a wonderful and modern place to reside. The amenities provided are the best in terms of quality and detailing. I don't think we had a single complaint in the one year that we stayed here. The reception staff were an absolute delight, always courteous and smiling even if it's just to collect a package from them. A special mention to David who was always very helpful regarding any issue. Would also like to throw light on the cleanliness that was maintained here, it was nothing less then a 5 star hotel. I owe this review for Cobalt staff especially to David at the leasing office. He helped us out so much when I was overwhelmed by all the baby packages and even work after the office hours. After 8 months of living here with a newborn and a dog, We are happy to call this place home. It almost feels like living at a quiet hotel except you can hear the dog barking once in a while. I would take off one star because it is pricey here. Just like any other place, this place has ongoing security issues such as car break-ins, stolen bikes and missing packages etc. Wish there was community events where we can meet other tenants. Also, instead of useless fitness training classes, yoga classes at the studio would be better. read more

We absolutely loved living at Cobalt! We only moved out because we wanted to have more space for our son to play so we decided to rent a house with a backyard. Otherwise, I would have stayed put! The apartments aren't cheap considering it's not the most prime neighborhood, but there are cute coffee shops within walking distance and the community is top-notch. The best thing about Cobalt was the awesome leasing staff. I've lived at several properties and Cobalt had the best staff by a long shot. They were always friendly and super helpful. Updated Review: We lived here from August 2016 to July 2017. We were one of the first neighbors to move into the new, still under construction building. Initially there were many issues but the friendly and competent staff worked hard to gradually resolve them one by one and over the next few months it became the best place to live. Most of the noise issues I mentioned in the previous review were addressed except one building design issue where a metallic spout on the ground floor banged really hard during the rain. The building and amenities are just amazing. Management staff (Carla and Hieu) beyond helpful, and the facilities team just outstanding. Relocated one time within the building and the process was very streamlined. Gilberto and Miguel made all repairs and inspections very punctually. First apartment had a mystery odor that we couldn't figure out and Gilberto came in and addressed it the same day. Very happy overall. read more

I love how this place seemed like a community rather than just an apartment complex. The staff here are super friendly and effective at their job! The amenities are great and all the neighbors here are very respectful towards each other. The complex is a bit confusing to get around at first but once you get used to the layout its not a big deal. Not to mention that the fitness center is 24/7 which is very accommodating to my schedule. read more
