After reading many positive reviews, I elected to bring my newly adopted cat to receive a wellness exam from Dr. Poehlmann. I want to start off by saying I adopted this cat from the Wisconsin Humane Society knowing she may have persisting health issues, but I was (and am) prepared to take on that responsibility. As requested, I brought a stool sample from my kitty. This sample sat with me throughout the entire appointment, and when the appointment was finished, I asked the vet tech about her sample since no one asked for it. I was told, "oh we already have her sample". Obviously that was not the case as I had the bag of feces in my hand, so I asked another tech who came to realize they put another cat's fecal sample under my cat's name. I was willing to overlook this mistake had I had a pleasant experience with Dr. Poehlmann, but I did not. At first she was professional, but then I brought up my cat's health issues and she said, "this is not what I had in mind for a free WHS wellness exam". What an odd comment to make because obviously you can't expect every animal who comes to you to be in perfect health. Throughout the appointment, she continued to make inappropriate comments and grimacing faces when discussing my cat's health. Then, when going over potential treatment options going forward, including an "expensive surgery", she said, "I mean, if you aren't too attached, you can always return her". This comment absolutely baffled me because why would returning her be anything but a last resort? I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt with this comment since I am young and probably appear to not have the financial capability of caring for her appropriately. However, I have a doctorate's degree (in healthcare), and make more than enough to provide and care for my kitty. So no, I don't think this is an appropriate comment to make to a pet owner. Overall, this rushed, unproductive appointment showed me that this vet clearly lacks the compassion to love and care for my cat going forward. read more

A couple of months ago, our long-time veterinarian, The Cat Doctor (Cathy Christiansen), retired from her practice. We did some research and asked a lot of questions from our pet owner/friends and were referred to Park Pet Hospital by several folks. That, coupled with the great reviews we read on line, made our decision to obtain an appointment for our (needy) cat, Jinx. From the first appointment on (after which we've had several due to our cat having a few on-going issues), we feel so very lucky to have found Park Pet Hospital. The folks there are all wonderful, caring folks. We've received services from both Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Poehlmann. They both instilled confidence in us and have been terrific to deal with. Both doctors absolutely are patient, informative, thorough and had "the touch;" putting Jinx at ease. The staff at the clinic are also VERY professional, friendly and handle everyone with kid gloves. Park Pet Hospital is an old school veterinary practice. The facility looks as if its been around for forty years or so, but it is extremely clean and immaculate. Cats have their own door to enter the facility, as do dogs. There is plenty of on site parking as well as available street parking which you probably will never need. read more

I love the doctor and her team here! Everyone is so nice and calm to where even my ferret was calm and not freaking out. I was recommended of off one of Wisconsin Ferret Facebook groups and was worried they would have a doctor with broad knowledge. But the doctor here had so much information and experience working with ferrets. Abba and I had the best time. They did so amazing with her that she accepted a nail trim and barely squirmed around. I am a 100% making this Abbas permanent vet they are everything I can ask for and more in an exotic vet. read more

I noticed my last review was in 2011 of this place but I just want to reiterate that the care we receive here is exemplary. I've seen all three of the practitioners here on our second dog right now. Very grateful for the amazing level of care recieved. One of the things that sets them apart is they are great listeners. They're willing to consider and explain all choices and options available and then make a recommendation. Recently we had an issue with our 13-year-old beagle Cocker mix that one of the doctors took almost an hour to explain their concerns and advise us on what our next options were. I am amazed at how generous they are with their time to make sure we're making the best decision with our dogs. Truly grateful for the exceptional service we have received and continue to receive. This vet clinic has a customer for life in me. They took such great care of our dog Princess who had fallen terribly ill. After she was treated at Park Pet, she recovered miraculously and has been acting like she's about 10 years younger. They saved her life, and for that, I am eternally grateful. My family has been bringing our pets to Park Pet for years! The first thing you'll notice upon arriving at Park Pet is two front doors. One labeled cats, the other labeled dogs. Enter the door of your choosing and you'll see their front desk, which separates the two different waiting areas. That way your cat or dog can wait for his/her appointment without being bothered by a member of the opposite species :) All of the staff are incredibly caring and personable. The doctors are thorough in their care and they always take the time to make sure I understand my pets' health conditions and plans of care. The vet technicians welcome our pets individually by name, often before they greet us, which shows me just how invested they are in my pets well-being! I am always confident in the doctors' clinical decisions and I know my animals are being taken care of and loved by the whole staff. Obviously, I highly recommend Park Pet! read more

There is not enough stars to give the clinic and staff. I have been going to this clinic since 2004. The staff is compassionate and really takes care of the animals and the parents of the pets!! We use Park Pet Hospital for care of our 4 y.o. Airdale since we got her as a 2 months old puppy. We primarily see doctor Hoppe there, but we had seen couple other doctors too there when Dr. Hoppe was not available. We are very happy with the care they provide for our dog, We like very much that the doctors there will listen to you, and they will explain you everything as many times as you needed. Whenever we need to go there, we know we would get satisfing amount of care, and all our questions are going to be addressed in a profeccional manner. We adopted our cat from the Humane Society and hadn't yet found her a regular vet, so when she was injured and needed vet care, we panicked. I phoned Park Pet Hospital and explained the situation. Not only was the receptionist pleasant, she was calm and reassuring despite my very obvious anxiety and worry. She offered us an appointment for the same day and assured me they'd take good care of our furry friend. During our appointment, every single person we encountered was friendly and warm. They truly love animals, and it shows in their behavior and demeanor. They were prompt, explained clearly what they needed to do and how quickly they could do it, and they fixed up our kitty cat in no time. Dr. Hoppe was compassionate, knowledgeable and reassuring, and his Vet Tech was equally excellent. I was impressed with their efficient but warm attitudes and I felt like our cat was in capable, good and kind hands. They clearly informed me of after-care, medication dosage and instructions. The receptionist gave me a clear, concise bill with reasonable charges for the consultation, treatment and medication. Dr. Poehlmann is a wonderful vet and a very caring person. Not only will she give you the best possible care, her connection to animals is parallel to none. We had to put our Lab to sleep and it was so hard for us. Dr. P was even crying-you won't find that kind of dedication to animals anywhere else!
