Dean introduced himself (properly, kneeling down and stretching out steady hands), they both went to him tail-wagging, and giving generous kisses.

We have had only positive experiences with this doctor and this establishment. Unfortunately we had the need to visit room 5 a couple of weeks ago. For those who are unaware, room 5 is the room where the humane and dignified process of end-of-life occurs. The animal hospital provides a comforting and painless procedure we regrettably had to face. Dr. Martinez made sure our 17 year old very sick cat felt no pain and only experienced love until the very end. For that we are grateful. A personal follow-up condolence card reinforced the caring this facility provides.

Last year I wasn't allowed to stay with my dog while having her routine yearly exam and vaccination! What? The reason I was given was idiotic. This year, I specifically asked if I could be present, and thought surly they would ablige...THEY SAID NO. The reason was completely different then the year before. They even put a muzzle on my sweet dog (I was appalled ), who is by NO MEANS remotely aggressive about anything. And you'd think being veterinarians they'd know MOST animals will do better when there people are present!!! I will now be looking for a new Veteranian Office! CORPORATE RUINS EVERYTHING. Our dog had always been terrified & anxious when going to the vet, but for many reasons we now know, he seemed at ease with Dr. Ron. He outlined the pros/cons of moving forward with such an invasive surgery on an elderly dog and walked us through all the initial tests he wanted to run to make sure something of that nature was safe for him. In the end, we moved forward with a successful surgery that gave our little guy a little more comfort in his last years. This was after being told by various vets it was a no go. Unfortunately, a few years later we needed to put our boy down of old age and we of course called Dr. Ron as Royal was so comfortable in his presence. Dr. Ron came to our house and made the entire experience peaceful for everyone involved. We were sent a thoughtful card, stamp of his paw and a beautiful urn afterwards. Dr. Ron is animal whisperer (or so we think). Him and his staff are incredibly kind and thoughtful, and we're so happy we found them in our dog's last years. We're going to wait for a few years before getting another dog, but when we do, we're excited to bring them to Dr. Ron & My Pet's Vet. Thank you again.

After reading many positive reviews, I elected to bring my newly adopted cat to receive a wellness…read moreexam from Dr. Poehlmann. I want to start off by saying I adopted this cat from the Wisconsin Humane Society knowing she may have persisting health issues, but I was (and am) prepared to take on that responsibility. As requested, I brought a stool sample from my kitty. This sample sat with me throughout the entire appointment, and when the appointment was finished, I asked the vet tech about her sample since no one asked for it. I was told, "oh we already have her sample". Obviously that was not the case as I had the bag of feces in my hand, so I asked another tech who came to realize they put another cat's fecal sample under my cat's name. I was willing to overlook this mistake had I had a pleasant experience with Dr. Poehlmann, but I did not. At first she was professional, but then I brought up my cat's health issues and she said, "this is not what I had in mind for a free WHS wellness exam". What an odd comment to make because obviously you can't expect every animal who comes to you to be in perfect health. Throughout the appointment, she continued to make inappropriate comments and grimacing faces when discussing my cat's health. Then, when going over potential treatment options going forward, including an "expensive surgery", she said, "I mean, if you aren't too attached, you can always return her". This comment absolutely baffled me because why would returning her be anything but a last resort? I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt with this comment since I am young and probably appear to not have the financial capability of caring for her appropriately. However, I have a doctorate's degree (in healthcare), and make more than enough to provide and care for my kitty. So no, I don't think this is an appropriate comment to make to a pet owner. Overall, this rushed, unproductive appointment showed me that this vet clearly lacks the compassion to love and care for my cat going forward.

We did some research and asked a lot of questions from our pet owner/friends and were referred to Park Pet Hospital by several folks. That, coupled with the great reviews we read on line, made our decision to obtain an appointment for our (needy) cat, Jinx. From the first appointment on (after which we've had several due to our cat having a few on-going issues), we feel so very lucky to have found Park Pet Hospital. The folks there are all wonderful, caring folks. We've received services from both Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Poehlmann. They both instilled confidence in us and have been terrific to deal with. Both doctors absolutely are patient, informative, thorough and had "the touch;" putting Jinx at ease. The staff at the clinic are also VERY professional, friendly and handle everyone with kid gloves. Park Pet Hospital is an old school veterinary practice. The facility looks as if its been around for forty years or so, but it is extremely clean and immaculate. Cats have their own door to enter the facility, as do dogs. There is plenty of on site parking as well as available street parking which you probably will never need.

They were able to get me in right away and were very kind. I see there is another review on here saying they lacked empathy and that they paid $1,000. First off, both the Vet Tech and Vet were incredibly empathetic, and as far as the cost goes, while my cost was over $1,000, it was nothing out of the ordinary given the circumstances and honestly, was expected. People need to understand that you are going to pay more money at an Urgent Vet or Emergency vet, but when it's 10:00pm at night and you have nowhere else to go, what else can you do? We left my cat there for a little under 2 hours while they did the procedure and then we picked him up after. They called me 2 days later to follow up and see how my cat was doing as well, which I very much appreciated. I had no idea this place existed but I am grateful they were able to help me and my cat and my experience overall with them was pleasant. Thank you Urgent Vet!

I made the appointment for 6:30pm and called around 3pm and then rushed home to grab her so we could be on time. Well apparently they called me while I was at work (didn't realize until I was already on the way) and told me they couldn't see my MALE cat because it's an emergency? How do you know it's an emergency without a Doctor ever examining her? You didn't even get her gender correct, so how do you expect to know what her condition is like? Also, you're an urgent care, it's your job. I'm not about to take my cat to an expensive ER when this doesn't seem to be an immediate emergency. Then they took her off the schedule and now I'm left to find somewhere else that will take her, as my primary vet is closed. What kind of business runs this way? Reading the other negative reviews, it seems I've dodged a bullet.

After being a loyal client of Small Animal Hospital for over 25 years, it is with great…read moredisappointment that I can no longer recommend this clinic. Over the past year, the quality of care and service has declined rapidly, replaced by a general sense of chaos and disorganization. Operational Issues: * Chronic Tardiness: Appointments consistently run 20+ minutes late. * Disorganization: During our last visit, the staff didn't even know which room we were in. * Poor Communication: Phone wait times are excessive, and follow-up calls regarding lab results often arrive several days later than promised. Clinical Concerns regarding Dr. Neuses: My experience with Dr. Neuses has been particularly troubling. Despite being only a few years into her career, she carries an "all-knowing" attitude that leaves no room for client collaboration. * Diagnostic Overreach: She consistently pushes for expensive diagnostic tests for obscure/rare diseases while seemingly ignoring common clinical signs of infection. * Dismissive Attitude: She refuses to consider reasonable requests or discuss information from reputable veterinary research. * Risk to Patient Health: Most importantly, her refusal to pursue common-sense treatments based on clear lab findings is actively putting my cat's health at risk. If you are looking for a vet who values your history as a client, respects your input, or manages their schedule effectively, I suggest looking elsewhere. UPDATE: I've discovered why the quality and culture at Small Animal Hospital have shifted so drastically. After decades of local ownership, the clinic was sold (around 2021/2022) to National Veterinary Associates (NVA), a global corporate consolidator owned by a private equity-backed holding company. While the sign on Newhall Street hasn't changed, the management certainly has. In my experience, the focus has shifted from the personalized care we used to receive to a corporate model that prioritizes standardized 'production' over the individual needs of our pets. What we are seeing--the skeleton staffing, the long wait times, and the decline in attentive care--are the classic hallmarks of this business model. They cut labor costs to pad the bottom line while leveraging the trusted 'Small Animal Hospital' name to hike prices. It's no longer the neighborhood clinic local vets built; it's a corporate asset where efficiency is prioritized over our pets' well-being. If you've noticed the 'soul' of the clinic is gone, this is the reason why.
