I initially came here for a dermatology appointment last Spring. The doctor was highly recommended by a colleague of mine, and I was very excited to find a doctor of color, to help me with my skin care. She has two offices, one in Parkchester, and the other on the upper east side of Manhattan. I live in the Bronx, so naturally I picked the Parkchester location, but in hindsight, this may have been my first mistake. My first consult was great. The doctor prescribed tretinoin, for which I was hoping. She reassured me that my simple beauty routine was fine. I inquired about DPN removal and she explained the procedure. I immediately made an appointment. The office is quite disorganized, as far as, informing the patient of next steps. No one told me prior to my appointment, that I would require a topical anesthetic. They set my appointment (well, canceleled and rescheduled it without informing me) and I came in, ready to have my DPN removed. When I was brought to the exam room, I was asked if I had lidocaine. I said no, and the person informed me, at that time, that I was supposed to have the cream to apply an hour prior to the procedure, and that someone should have told me about it. I explained to her that no one told me of this, and was left in the room. I could hear through the door when she explained to the doctor, that no one told me about the lidocaine, and instead of an apology or an explanation about how this could have happened, I was made to feel like the procedure could not be performed because I likely would not be able to endure the pain associated with the removal. Just a note that she removed the largest one off my eyelid, and while I was nervous because, I mean, scissors to face, I was able to handle the pinch without issue. This was my second mistake - I should have spoken up and said that I heard them talking through the door, and then inquired about the lidocaine, and as to why I was not told ahead of time in preparation for the visit. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I also work in healthcare, and mistakes are made, and sometimes it's best to just make an excuse so as not to escalate a situation. When I asked about rescheduling, I was told that I would have to wait until after the summer. I was very disappointed. Fast forward to this past December, when I rescheduled my DPN removal. This time I made sure they told me what to do with the lidocaine, and that I applied it before my appointment. I arrived at the office by 930A, for my 10A appointment. I waited until 1015, and asked how much longer. At that time, I was told there were 3 patients ahead of me. I'm unsure, how they were behind that early in the morning. They likely book patients every 15 minutes, so that means they knew when I arrived, that they were behind, and that there would be a wait. Why did they not inform me? The entire time I was in the waiting room, the women at the front desk were talking about a rice dish they wanted to get for lunch, that they later discovered is actually called, "chofan". This is what they were doing in an unprofessional earshot range, instead of managing their patient schedule. It was kind of infuriating that they basically just shrugged their shoulders, and I'm standing there with a face that is numb from lidocaine. There was no way I could wait any longer. I explained that I have my own patients scheduled in my own office, for which I provide direct care. I specifically set up my office schedule to accommodate this appointment based upon the information I received when booking the appointment, weeks in advance. I left the office, face numb, went to work, and continued my day with my work schedule. I was extremely upset and uncomfortable with the numbness I was experiencing, for literally no reason. I received neither a call of apology, nor an offer to reschedule. I pay out of pocket for my visits and any elective procedures I receive. I would hate to think that, had I scheduled at the Manhattan office, my time would have been better respected. The entire experience makes me wary of how offices handle their patients and exhibited patient care; if I see anything resembling this foolishness, I, for sure, won't be paying for the subpar care. read more

I have been seen at this clinic 20+ years, and all my visits were pleasant. Starting with my scheduled appointments, the front desk staff were pleasant, and welcoming. Dr. Ezratty has been my PCP since day one, and his professional manner has been excellent. He addresses my issues, and refers me to the necessary specialists I need to see. He's personable and attentive. Asks me the right questions, and answers all my questions. I will continue to visit this clinic for my health care. I know that patients complain about their waiting time, but it's a matter of being patient, and understanding that all patient issues need to be addressed before they leave the clinic. read more

I have been to Park South Medical on a weekday for Primary care consultation with Dr.Ezratty. This was my first time here and I found this office via zocdoc which showed Dr. Ezratty in network for my insurance. Upon booking the appointment, I called the office just in case to check and make sure insurance is good. and overall my interaction with staff over the phone was pleasant. I asked them to confirm my co pay and they did call me back to confirm which was a good sign that this is a organized place. On the day of the appt, I was welcomed by front desk which had two smiling ladies. They already print out the forms that I filled from zocdoc, thanks very much for that. We did have fun them trying to pronounce my super long name (I am super used to that by now at the doc offices) the waiting area was nice , but kind of crowded. After checking in, I had to wait around 30-45min, probably due to the fact that I was a first time patient, and then I paid the copay and was seen by first nurse and then dr himself. The nurse and doctor were both pleasant. I found Dr. Ezratty kind and personable. He explained my condition well and addressed my questions. My only feedback would be for the wait time, which is kind of given at doc offices... as it was a bit long , considering that I have a newborn, I was really waiting on my toes to see whether she will have a melt down / scream during the wait or not. Also it is very hard to find parking in the area on a work day and streets seemed shady to me( couple strange looks and couple of awkward people saying uninvited hi) Overall I liked park south medical , it is decent, organized medical office. and there is high chance that I might come back for a physical or sick visit, if only I can find a decent parking place close by... read more

can I give 0 stars? I've been seeing Dr. Ezratty for about 8 years give or take. And today when I went to see him for a sinus infection he asked me to leave because I reported a sore throat. And, as he explained, a sore throat is a symptom of covid and "we don't see covid patients here". I had no fever, cough, chills, difficulty breathing. Just sinus pain and a sore throat. He instructed me to go to citymd where I could get a covid test and they would also treat me for a sinus infection. DISGUSTING! What kind of a doctor treats a patient like that? BTW, I did go to citymd where I received a NEGATIVE COVID TEST YOU SHITTY EXCUSE FOR A DR and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Lastly, they over-bill. So next time you're there check how long they mark down they've seen you for. PLEASE RETIRE SO THE AREA CAN HAVE REAL DR's AVAILABLE TO THEM YOU WASTE OF A MEDICAL LICENSE.‼‼‼‼ read more

I go to Dr Lam across the street in the dental facility. The staff is great, doctor. Lam and Dr Sterling are very professional and knowledgeable. I scheduled to get a physical and when I arrived the nursed asked me why I was there, I told her I was scheduled for physical and she tells me that I was put in as a regular visit. I went to the front desk and explained to them that I asked for a physical and they told me that I never told them that. Mind you this is my first time coming to this clinic!. I've been here about four times already. Three times for cleanings and once for a couple of fillings. The front desk staff is quite courteous and the wait times aren't too long. I've had two different hygienists and they're really great. I see Dr. Lee and he is knowledgable, professional and courteous. Overall, I can't complain. I've been pleasantly surprised. read more

Talk about unprofessional and rude administrative staff. No greeting on the phone, no regard for clinical/health concerns of the patient, and very unprofessional voicemail.s. These are just a few of the horrible interactions I had visiting this office before I even had the opportunity to see the doctor.she is AMAZINNG and my skin is clearing up but this staff will unfortunately lose her many clients. I'm not sure if it was my race that caused Adnil (the front desk receptionist ) to be so rude to me on the phone and in person. The overall feeling of the side talk when I signed in or the dead silence on the phone when asking a legitimate question, I felt extremely uncomfortable. I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks to see both the Dermatologist and the Dentist right across the street at 1530 Unionport. The staff here is super friendly and helpful and patient. They remind me of the staff in clinic back home in NC. I heard one of them telling another lady that they take a wide range of insurance. The facilities in both locations were very clean and quiet. I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for either appointment. The dermatologist Dr. Gratch was so chill and knowledgeable, he even advised my boyfriend on something totally unrelated even though he had no appointment. I know some doctors will get in a huff about that type of thing. The dentist Dr. Lam I saw for literally less than 2 minutes; he seemed a little rushed or tired or something but he was covering for his partner who had just had surgery. Regardless, the dental assistant and hygienist were both great. I don't anticipate needing a derm very often, but this will definitely be my dental clinic of choice while I'm living in the Bronx. Oh, and they have a ton of different types of doctors and specialists all in one building. read more

This place is the worse. I went in yesterday because I have a bad cold. I waited 2.5 hours to been by the Dr., and it wasn't that busy. I'm seen by the Dr he tells me he will write a prescription and have it sent to my Rite Aid Pharmacy. I spoke to the nurse, she said it will take about an hour to be submitted. So I waited an hour before going to Rite Aid and when I'm there no medicine. I called the doctor's office and they say the doctor was busy to allow another hour. I go home it is now 4, I call Rite Aid every hour on the hour and nothing I call back the doctor's office but of course they were closed, so I go to Rite Aid the pharmacist tells me nothing yet so I had to buy something over the counter for my cold. today is now Saturday April 21st I called Rite Aid no medicine. I call the doctor's office cuz I want my co-payment credited back to my account for services not rendered and they advised me to call back Monday. This place is not worth the time please do not go here if you're sick and to think I was going to make them my primary. read more

Dr. Monte Ezratty of Park South Medical is extremely rude and condescending. Dr. Ezratty has been my primary care physician for about 10 years; I do not see him often as I usually go to my specialists when something specific is bothering me. I have let some of his rude comments slide over the years, but in April of 2014, I went to him regarding my chronic eczema and a side effect that it was causing, which he ADMITTED was not his specialty. He referred me to the office's dermatologist, but in the meantime, INSISTED that I start prednisone, which I did not want to take. I ended up having terrible side effects and when I called the office the next morning to inform him that I would not be continuing the prednisone, he told me "I don't agree with your assessment" and "I can't help you." He completely minimized my experience! Also, when I saw him the day prior, I asked him for specific medication to help w/the side effect of my eczema, which HE HAD PRESCRIBED BEFORE W/O A PROBLEM & it had not caused any adverse side effects. He REFUSED! He did not give me a valid reason as to why he refused either. Patients' questions should be answered!!! He prescribed something else, which I was afraid to take b/c of the bad experience I had w/the prednisone. He also ROLLED HIS EYES when I mentioned that I had begun receiving acupuncture treatments to combat my eczema, since Western medicine was no longer effective. Fast forward to 8/20/14. I was informed by my acupuncturist (who I've been seeing for my eczema since March of 2014) that I now require referrals to see her. I called Park South Medical (whose other staff is very professional and kind) to request said referral. Not much later, I got a call from Dr. Ezratty. He told me that he has never heard of acupuncture being helpful in combatting eczema, so he did not feel "comfortable" writing this referral until he did some research. I had already seen my acupuncturist for the day, so I asked him, "So I have to pay for today's visit in full?" He said yes. He added that if he did not find medical documentation indicating that acupuncture is beneficial to eczema sufferers, he would not provide me the referral for future visits b/c that would be an "alternative treatment" that I should "pay out of [my] pocket for." When I reminded him that I make contributions to my health insurance from my paychecks every two weeks and pay all my copays, he said "You don't understand what I'm saying." He insulted my intelligence. I have a Masters Degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude w/my undergraduate degree. I received numerous merit-based scholarships to finance both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, so yes, I understood very well what he was saying- that I should pay 100% of the cost . . . that I was not worthy of having this health insurance benefit. He does not know my financial situation, and he certainly does not know how discontinuing these treatments (because I would not be able to afford them) could cause my eczema to flare up. He said that insurance companies should not be responsible. Who is he to determine that? If the insurance company denies payment, that's one thing, but he should not put his two cents in about this. This is a treatment I have been receiving for 5 months, and it has been helpful to ME. Why do you need a medical journal to tell you that you should write this referral? My acupuncturist was appalled! I know that this office is convenient to Parkchester residents, but if you are physically able to travel elsewhere, do so!!! Doctors would have no business without us and they must treat ALL patients with respect and dignity. DO NOT give Dr. Ezratty your business- you DO have options!!!
