We've been attending Parkcrest for 5 years now. It's a great place for kids and for teens. The kids program is fun, and the leaders are warm and compassionate with the littles and fun and engaging with older kids. The youth pastor is fantastic with his ability to connect with teens, speak into their lives, and make them excited about attending. The sermons do not hold your hand and coddle you; they are sermons that challenge you to reconsider your perspective and your faith journey. There are times I've felt uncomfortable by the lessons, but that's good. I want to be challenged. I want to grow. Sermons are topic-based rather than book based, but they are fully reliant on scripture as the basis of each sermons. Communion is practiced nearly every week. The worship team is fantastic. There is outside seating as well as inside. I also appreciate that they focus on ministry partners rather than trying to do everything themselves. They have partners with local, national, and international mission projects, and their special Christmas giving is focused on supporting those partners rather than the church itself. There are optional fundraisers throughout the year to help support the local ministries, some of which require no funds at all - you can volunteer time or even write cards of encouragement. I will say it can be hard to meet people there if you're an introvert, but that's that case with most churches. If you join a community group or attend one of the many all-church activities, you'll find yourself getting to know people and will soon feel like Parkcrest is home and the people are family. read more

Parkcrest is a place of love and generosity. We first came here to a foster family event. They had Christmas gifts and love for our foster child and our family. I have experienced fellowship and healing at their Celebrate Recovery meetings on Fridays. Their Pastors preach love and obedience to the Lord's will. In a world continuously divided, Parkcrest church, and to a further extent, Pastor Anthony is a refreshing blend of faith and community. The ability to marry the gospel with the world we live in today is truly a hard line to walk, and Pastor Anthony does it well. Intelligent, charismatic, and above all else loving, the message shines through the most negative aspects of what truly spreading the word means. I've read some comments about how the church is woke or preaching DEI or racist, and while it's difficult to step outside of our egocentric perspective, but I would encourage those to try. As a conservative keenly aware of political buzzwords, I saw and see none of that political postering in any of the church's messaging. If anything, it's through these opportunities we can foster conversation to bring us all back together under one beacon. It's been a while since I've attended church regularly and Pastor Anthony and the rest of Parkcrest have made it feel less like a visit and more of a homecoming. Went to last Sundays sermon it was like being in a DEI class! Complete racism people walked out the pastor even said he wouldn't blame if you walked out it was anything but church absolutely horrible it shouldn't be allowed the pastor shouldn't be there he's not a true leader! I go to church to be uplifted and feel closer to god with a group of good people this was anything but that. Very disappointing! The 'pastor' said I know how you brown and black people feel,he's a half black pastor basically leaving out all other races making you feel degraded! Instead of preaching The Word of God and providing a message from that, the preacher had a message/agenda and shaped Bible verses around it. About racism, of all things. And he said that there were no whites in bible days, and that "Jesus has skin like mine, not y'all." It was one of the most uncomfortable sermons I've had to sit through, bringing my parents there for the first time. My dad was the luckiest, being practically deaf, having forgotten his hearing-aids. I had never been so jealous of my old man. The pastor even warned us before his sermon, saying we could leave if we wanted. Which, of course... at least for the white people in there... would have been pretty frightening. read more

We've been driving from Long Beach to Newport Beach every Sunday for the past 10+ years to go to church because we were convinced there wasn't a single solid church in Long Beach. My heart was yearning to find a local church home, so i resumed the local search to see if any new churches popped up that we can call home. Then i did something I've never done before... took a dive into Reddit of all places. And buried beneath a sea of comments, there it was. A brief mention of how Parkcrest church was an amazing little place to call home, so last weekend we gave it a go. After the service, i couldn't help but be really bummed i didn't look hard enough before. The service was AMAZING. The people were authentic and friendly, Pastor Anthony is an insanely gifted Bible teacher and really makes the Bible come alive. Even though my daughter is now off to college, we still have our 16 year old son to share in the experience. For the first time ever, my son shared how God really spoke to him through the message on Jonah. My wife and i were beyond overjoyed. God is alive and very active here at Parkcrest. I just find "reviewing" churches weird, but, here I am. This is coming from a person looking for a new home church. I had been part of the "mega church" scene and I was over it, I never really felt part of a community but that's partially my fault as I never gave in to where I used to be. But now, as I'm trying to actually be more active and engaged with my new community, my family and I have found a new home church. Our first service here was a doozy! Congregation wasn't really diverse and the lead pastor announced he was leaving, talk about an experience. What lead us to come back was a simple phone call, one of the pastors on staff called me within the next 7 days of our first attendance at this church and made me feel welcome. In the years since 2019 the church has been becoming more diverse, sure everyone is still getting their footing coming back from covid but my family and I wouldn't have it any other way. I was new to the area and looking for a church that honored multicultural inclusivity and humility, and this church and its people were refreshing and welcoming from the very beginning. Jared's sermons, along with many guest speakers that are invited, are Scripturally based and also do not shy away from difficult topics. I have felt seen here in a way that I have not experienced from many other churches, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this church community as we grow, encourage, and support one another while being led by the Spirit. They also stream the services online as well as hold them in-person and were very mindful of COVID and instituting mask requirements during the height of the pandemic, so there are different options for attending services that make it more accessible to all. read more

If I could give it zero I would. Beware of religious, judgmental and controlling people. Please go elsewhere for a self help group. I've never heard or seen such dictatorship in a self help meeting before, you would think it were court ordered with how the womens group was ran. There is no kindness, no grace, no acceptance or love. I'm very sad at this experience...Nobody should ever walk away from a faith based program and feel so empty, confused and hurt. read more

This is an excellent church, and honestly it's almost perfect. The pastor (Mike Goldsworthy) is WONDERFUL - I mean a really great speaker. I love hearing his messages, and every time I get something out of them. There is a wide range of activities for the kids, and many ways for adults to meet others and get involved as well. For sure Parkcrest would be 5 stars except for my one complaint - many Sundays other pastors on staff fill in. I know the church is huge and has many services, but I'm old school and I want the lead pastor to give the messages. Parkcrest was resolution the first church that my family felt great at and stuck with throughout the years. I remember going through kidzone (for elementary students), junior high, and the high school programs-- all which were so great and really beneficial for my growth. I only go now when I'm home from college and attend the general sermon which is where all the adults are at but I still find it to be great. It really is great for all ages and is a super modern church. I especially love the different types of programs they offer like overdrive which is more like rock music and unplugged which offers acoustic and a cafe like feel. Parkcrest is really a little family that is ahead of its time! I have yet to find something like it up north. Really the easiest way to describe it is modern and fresh. read more

I attended this church while I was still in high school so I was apart of the oldest "youth group." At the time Pastor Jesse was relatively new. He tried to really connect with all of us and get on our level of things, which is great, but often times during activities he would be doing too much of that to the point where he would try and act our age. Often times he would do that making fun of people but passing it off as a joke kind of thing. It got really weird at times and I seemed to be the only one to notice or think so. It's been a couple years and he might have gotten more adjusted but it was a really weird experience. Colin on the other hand was absolutely great. Whatever room he walked into, he would somehow make a connection with every person in it. I only attended this church for about a year during grad year and during that time I learned that if you didn't know anyone via mutual friends or other connections you felt very isolated. Once I was no longer in high school, I could no longer attend youth group even though that's where the only acquaintances I had made were as they were a little younger than me. I was to go the regular service basically by myself where I felt isolated. If I tried to go to youth group, I would get looks. I tried, I really did, but it was just too weird. At the time my connection with God was a really comforting time as I was going through a life struggle with crippling anxiety and the feeling isolated really didn't help. This would be a great church to establish when kids are young as they a children's ministry. They could grow here as they have a group for every age. If you decide to come here on your own not knowing anybody and no kids to establish here then it's definitely not the church for you. read more

I began attending Parkcrest in 1991 when a smaller church I was attending closed. Parkcrest came to invite us to try them out. I fell in love with this church almost immediately. Roger Beard knew everyone's names, everyone's story. Jill, Cheryl, Sherri and the girls around my age immediately invited me to a woman's group and it just felt right. For the first time I cooked and served meals for the LB Rescue mission with a group of people that made it incredibly fun. Then we headed to Northridge to help earthquake victims, then took blankets to the homeless and countless other things. No church I had attended did things like that. Then there were the beach bonfires every Sunday and afternoon fun time when I wasn't working. Wow. One of the other things I loved then and now is that Parkcrest is a place for sinners and saints because even saints sin now and then. We need God because we aren't perfect. Here I am in 2011 still in love with Parkcrest and it's people. I have attended for 20 years and been on staff for 10. I can confidently say that the staff is real. They are the same day to day as they are on the weekend and they all have hearts for the community and world. Mike Goldsworthy definitely practices what he preaches. I love his preaching and leadership style. Drue Boles is a constant encourager to the staff and congregates. Cathy Taylor is one of the most caring and straight forward people I've ever met. I am blessed to be a part of the Parkcrest community and staff. If I don't know you yet give me time and I'll know your name and story because like everyone at Parkcrest I genuinely care about you. Parkcrest was the answer to our prayers. I prayed for a church home where my children would have FUN learning about God and where they would feel a strong sense of church FAMILY. I prayed for a church home where I could connect with people who were on the same journey as I am (the small group members I have made through the last 11 years are daily blessings) and I prayed for a church home where we would be challenged to follow God and not the world (without Marriage Restoration I would have been divorced four years ago). Don't get me wrong, Parkcrest has not made life any easier. But going through life side by side with my Parkcrest brothers and sisters has made it all bearable. My husband and I were introduced to Parkcrest by some good friends. We went to the live service and we found the music loud and overwhelming. It was a lot to take in as we hadn't attended church in years. We went to a few services and didn't feel a connection with the head Pastor, Mike. We were attending many different churches to find the right fit, and then another friend told me about the Parkcrest "Unplugged" venue. We attended and felt much more comfortable. The music and venue were laid back and quiet, coffee house style. You view the pastor on a projection screen, which I don't mind. There is coffe served and the band is awesome. Now Parkcrest is our home and you can't keep us away. We have grown to love the head Pastor, who is very down-to-earth and does give the message most of the time. The high school Pastor, Rachel, is a treat to listen to. They are always challenging us to take our faith to deeper levels. In such a big church, they can make you feel as if they are your close friends because of their great speaking skills. You should definitely check Parkcrest out and their many venues they offer to make you feel comfortable. There is a small group for everyone and their children's ministries are fantastic. read more

Parkcrest -- makes hamburgers taste like steakburgers!

I have been going to Parkcrest for around 15 years now. It's become a second family to me. I started going here because of their children's program. It was perfect for my two young girls - preschoolers at the time. The leaders were gently guiding them with bible based teaching - just what we wanted. They were so open to letting the parents help out too - it was a great opportunity to observe the kids and teachers in action. The kids loved it. We started attending service - they have a wonderful Saturday night service what worked really well for our family. The kids started going to a Wednesday night gathering, where they had great kids activities - while still learning about God. They kept going to it throughout elementary, middle, and high school! Yes, they were hooked on fun, and on Jesus. I am soooo pleased God lead us to this church. It has gone through a lot of changes through the years, and it isn't perfect, but God has blessed and used it in a profound way for our family. Hope to see you there!!! read more
