Came across Parker's while trying to kill some time waiting to meet some friends for lunch in Milford. I'd have to say overall I was impressed. Now first off, there are a lot of records here..a whole lot..they're completely stuffed into the bins that stretch up and down the length of the store. There is a huge amount to go through here. I would have to say that how stuffed all of these bins are with records makes it pretty difficult to browse. And if you're looking for anything past the 70's or 80's era..this isn't the place for you. The guy working there the day I was there..who I assume was the owner..was very personable and was quick to ask if I had come there because of their website or not. Apparently the store's website catalogues this plethora of vinyl and allows you to search for specific titles you may be looking for. He was very adamant about wanting to show me their site before I left so that I could know how to navigate through it and find any specific titles I was looking for in the future. I appreciated the info and it did seem to be a lot easier than trying to browse through this crazy collection. I still spent some time looking around and was able to find a title that I had been looking for. Prices here are on the higher end for used vinyl, but they really do put a lot of effort in only offering records in the most prestine condition. Most records are even graded on their condition and it's listed on the price tag. I was satisfied with my purchase, with the level of customer service I was provided (by someone who obviously know a whole lot about vinyl), and was impressed with the immense collection they had. I will definitely take the owner up on the option of searching their website for anything I might purchase here in the future. That way I can walk in and have my selections waiting for me..instead of having to search for hours to find records that they could have or not. read more

An interesting little shop on the edge of Milford. The owner is super into 45's and spent most of the 45 minutes I was there telling me story about buying and selling them, and about how he was recently robbed of several dozen rare ones. He apparently does 80% of his sales via his online store, and mostly sells the 45's. I hate flipping through 45's but there are a few rare ones I'm after, and lo and behold he had one and it was a reasonable price. I flipped through a bunch of the LPs there. Many of the shelves are so packed with records that you can't even physically flip through them, a huge pet peeve of mine. The LP stock is nearly all 50s-80s material, mostly in the classic rock, jazz and soul formats. He also said he would be selling the store and retiring soon, and that a new owner was buying all the LPs and opening a new record shop in the same location. It will be interesting to go back in a few months and see what's become of it under the new ownership. All in all a decent record shop. It didn't align with my tastes overall, but for those most interested in classic rock or old soul/R&B 45s, it's definitely worth a stop (or a search on their website). read more

I had went there recently to check out some vinyls and it is amazing there it's super clean and I assume it's under new management/ownership because the guy I talked to was friendly and didn't care to answer my questions and the bungles were super cheap only paying 5 bucks for about 7 or 8 records and he also has a lot of comic books if that floats your boat so if you are interested in any of that stuff I'm telling you to just go there and you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm gonna tell you a little story that spans almost 2 decades. Once upon a time there was a little boy that loved superheroes. He would visit the original Parker's Comics in Loveland, OH every Saturday with his grandfather to pick up the newest superhero adventures. This became a long lasting tradition that spanned almost 15 years. Every week, they would purchase the newest Superman adventures. These comics inspired the boy to draw, to dream, and to pursue a career as an artist. All of this was possible because of Parker's Comics and it's owner Don Parker. After 17 years, the tradition ended. As the boy grew older he decided that he would start spending his own hard earned money on his comic books. Parker's had moved to a location in Milford, where it currently resides. This didn't matter. The additional miles were worth it because the boy had grown into a man that wanted to start his own weekly tradition. Even after 17 years, the man still picked up Superman. Unfortunately this all changed on one fateful afternoon.... The man eagerly walked into the comic shop, looking forward to picking up the newest issue of Superman. Due to the popularity of the title, it was sold out! As the man glanced over the the counter, he noticed that there was a preview copy sitting behind the glass shelf in front of the owner. He asked the owner if he could purchase the preview copy, as it was the last copy in the store. The owner said, "NO". The man, then told the owner that he has been coming to his shop for almost 20 years, and that he's never missed an issue of Superman. The owner once again expressed that he did not want to sell it. That man was me. It was also the last time that I attended Don Parker's store. He is a huge jerk. My grandfather and I were loyal customers for almost 20 years. Don has a ton to learn about customer service and loyalty. I highly recommend that you do not purchase comics from this man. Go to a respected store like Queen City Comics in Pleasant Ridge instead. My husband and I stopped in here one evening to see if they had new issues of our favorite series. While they did have some new issues, the selection was not fantastic. It was hard to navigate the cramped store and the whole time we did, we overheard the guy behind the counter talking with a coworker. While his coworker was ringing us up he made some pretty sexist "jokes" too. In general I got the impression that we were not welcome in the store and if I had been there alone I certainly would not have felt comfortable browsing. I don't think we'll be back. read more

I had read the negative reviews and figured that the owner had made some enemies, or only the unhappy customers were reviewing it, etc. But nope, having been in there now twice myself I can verify that a lot of the complaints about the store are true. If you're looking for 50s-70s vinyl (particularly 45s) this place is worth visiting. No new records, very little from the 80s, and nothing from the 90s. And as the guy working there pointed out SEVERAL TIMES, the vinyl is difficult to search through and "You'd be better off looking for things on the website..." He was polite enough but he kept laying his head on the counter, and you could tell that he was actively trying to get rid of me so that he could get back to his nap. And I would totally be OK with the quirky, ho-hum service if the store had what I was looking for in reasonable condition and at a reasonable price. For vinyl I recommend the Plaid Room, Half Price Books, Everybody's Records, and Amazon.com. If you're looking for something old and specific I would check the Parker website too. But from what little I sampled I think their stock is a bit overpriced on top of everything else. I can handle gruff customer service, or a shabby looking store, or even stock that's a little expensive. But this place suffers from all of the above. Shop the website and pick up maybe, but otherwise don't bother for vinyl. read more

My husband and I will go to this shop with EXTREME hesitation due to the fact it is easy to get to from where we live when we can't get to Queen City. EVERYONE who works here is 100% a dick and rarely have what we are looking for. This place can suck it. I will be going to Queen City from now on. These people don't deserve the crusty pennies in your couch. read more

The amount of comics, 45's and other records is pretty incredible. Online and in-store, it's likely you will be able to add something to your collection. and if not, Don can probably locate what you're looking for. He's been in business since 1979. Definitely worth checking out! read more

The owner was unfriendly (bordering on hostile), the place was beyond cramped, and the prices on the vinyl were way too high. I visited over two years ago, vowing to never return. I'm amazed this place is still in business. read more

Okay. First off, this store is sad looking. Totally outdated. Old stock. They have a decent run of back stock comics but if you're looking for figures or toys or statues? Forget it. The main thing the owner is interested in is selling old vinyl records. Mainly early 50s-80s LPs and 45s. When I went in there the first time there was this guy sitting on a computer chair staring at me. He didn't once ask if he could help me. He is a giant dude too. Not to be mean or anything... But he's a huge dude. I could tell he didn't want to get off his butt to help. He just sat there sweating, looking at me as if he wanted me to leave the store so he could take a nap. Anyways, horrible store. Smells like Freddy Kreuger's jockstrap! Save yourself the time and go to the new Up Up and Away Comics in Kenwood area off of I 71. read more

Guy is a dirtbag that overcharges older comics, does not go through the entire book, and sets the grade 2-3 times higher than comic book grading standards. The shop is a joke and he is very dishonest. read more
