It goes well beyond the basics. Kids get exposure to STEM topics, Spanish and even yoga, and there's still plenty of time carved out for outdoor play every day. It doesn't feel rushed or overly structured. The balance is just right for this age group. The food situation is also worth mentioning because not every school gets this right. Maple has a no microwave, no fridge policy, which sounds strict at first but it actually encourages parents to send fresh, healthy food. The school also provides healthy snacks. And if you're a working parent who doesn't always have time to prep a lunch, Ms. Radhika launched a fresh hot lunch program. You enroll at the start of the month and your child gets a freshly made hot lunch each day. The price is very reasonable (around $5 per meal), and even though we haven't personally used the service, we think it's a fantastic option for busy families. Another thing Ms. Radhika introduced is a partnership with Amazing Athletes, a dedicated sports program that comes in once a week. The idea is to introduce kids to a variety of sports so they can figure out what they actually enjoy, rather than being pushed into one thing early. It's a great way to get them moving and curious about athletics. The program runs about $80 a month and is totally worth it. On the practical side, parking is never a headache here. There's a dedicated lot with plenty of space, so you're never circling the block or rushing to a street spot at drop-off. Our kiddo and her friends sometimes hang out in the parking area after pickup for a little impromptu snack party, which tells you something about how comfortable and unhurried the whole vibe is there. The campus itself is really well set up. The playground area is nicely shaded, surrounded by trees and has a solid fence so kids can run around freely without you worrying. With only six classrooms, this is a smaller campus compared to some of the bigger Learn and Play locations, and that's honestly a plus. The staff knows every child, the class sizes stay manageable, and your kid doesn't get lost in the shuffle. For staying connected, they use the BrightPath Connect app, which sends you updates throughout the day so you always know what's going on. As a working parent, that kind of visibility is really reassuring. And then there's Ms. Radhika. She has been the heartbeat of this campus. She knows every child personally, is always available when parents have questions or concerns, and has built something that genuinely feels like a community. The warmth starts with her and flows through the whole staff. I can go on and on. In summary, if you're a working parent looking for a school where your child will be challenged, cared for, and truly happy, Maple Campus is absolutely worth checking out. An unstructured environment where you sit your child down and let them learn on their own didn't make sense. To us, it was like giving your child a pen and paper. Yes, in an unstructured environment it may let them draw random squiggles and lines but without the proper knowledge to write letters, to form worlds, and then eventually form sentences, it didn't give our children the opportunity to open up a higher order of learning that could occur. That's why we felt a teacher with a clear lesson, goals and outcomes were important for our kids. This is what makes Miss Flora different: she focuses on the basics that makes your child successful and excel in the future. She focuses on making sure your child can draw lines that are straight, the shapes they cut are orderly, the letters and numbers are memorized. From this, she teaches vocabulary, associations, math, patterns and everyday skills that they can use for the basis of their knowledge in the future. To us, she provides a solid, if not advanced, foundation for children when they enroll in elementary school. We have both of our kids in her day care and they have advanced tremendously since they enrolled. If it were not for us moving out of the region, we would have kept our youngest there until she graduated to first grade. She is an excellent educator and if she has availability for you to enroll your child, our recommendation would be to not hesitate and sign up as soon as you can.

We work hard to ensure we provide prime education for our children, among other basic needs and extra wants. What would you feel when it gets violated by, of all places, a school? A school whose alleged "mission and philosophy" feels like a bait and marketing strategy for us. Here is one of my story: Our child attends kinder, sy 2015-16. One (of the many) concerns we've had recently was their jog-a-thon that took place 3-24-16. The jogathon flyer noted that the money raised will go to classroom improvements - the classroom that the kids will leave in 3 months or less. We were informed that kids who don't have monetary pledge cannot join the jogathon. Couple days before jogathon, our son came home and told us that his teacher, told him that he will be on time out (per our child, his exact words "time out") if he does not participate. We were more than willing to have our child jog/run, but the teacher already made it clear verbally: no money, no jogging. As parents, we were disheartened by the choice of words (if ever this was what the teacher used, which I believe she did as the words "time out" reverberates negatively on children). So I wrote a letter to the principal, copy below. I was not expecting any reply, but I was equally somewhat looking forward to hear something back that shows a hint of their concern over the issue surrounding my child and I. But I guess this is how unimportant I am to Kimber Hills. I received NO REPLY UP TO THIS DATE (May 25, 2016). Our child came home today and told his dad that his teacher told him that he will be on time out if he does not join the jog a thon. We are not sure how accurate this is, but our child now knows and feels he has done something horrible. My son started at Kimber Hills almost two years ago and honestly I wished I had known about the school sooner, because I would have sent him a long time ago. We tried so many different schools thinking "oh this is going to help him and nothing really worked. He was in the public school for a while and there were so many issues from education standards to bullying issues. I don't think he would have passed and moved into middle school if I had not taken him out of there. The bullying issues got quite severe and the I decided enough is enough. It started to really affect him in so many ways, and when I interviewed with KHA, it was 360 degrees difference. It was so refreshing to see that the teachers really do care for you and they not only know the student well, but the parents as well. My son has some learning challenges and is in the discovery program and just knowing that they had such a service which they could not offer at the public school was great. The Discovery program teachers are amazing. They are really like family for you --always watching over your student in every way possible and are able to act as a great liaison between your student and the teachers is so comforting. Not only are the discovery teachers great, but all the other teachers that I have come across at KHA are so compassionate about what they do. They are amazing with communication and always keep you informed. This is not something that you get everywhere. Trust me on this. I have always felt so welcomed when I walk into KHA. I probably talk to my son's teachers a few times a week and I am always extremely grateful for their willingness to have the utmost patience and care for him. Before my son came here, he was different person. After such a short time of coming here, things really started to look up for him, His whole perception and view of things became a lot more positive. Instead of being unsure , he has become a lot more confident. I truly believe that you are a product of your environment. Environment is a huge factor in so many things such as character building, confidence, education, desire to want to do well etc... You see other students who have the desire to want to do well and be a good human being. I am actually really impressed with the students at KHA , even the really young ones. They have a lot of respect and a lot of good values. I often see students holding the door open for parents and saying hello. I know it is easy to just miss these little things but they can make a big difference. Education is definitely very important, but if your child is smart, but does not have any other values what good is it. You really get the whole package here. If you have a suggestion, they are always willing to listen. So be positive and you will get positive results. read more

We get email reminder, and verbal notice, that our child was not wearing the right color socks (our kid was wearing long pants). This is dress code violation, they say. This sounds to me that teachers take their time to look under the student's pants leg to see if the kids are wearing the right colored socks. In the meantime, the cover page of the students' homework packet has MISSPELLED words in it and the teacher never took time to spell check it. Spell check is faster than inspecting kids' socks esp when kids are wearing long pants. Conclusion: DRESS CODE IS THIS SCHOOL'S PRIORITY RATHER THAN LEARNING. Another priority of this school: MAKING MONEY. We are now required to buy uniforms at only 2 companies which are located too far away. Where the price is 300% more expensive than Target or Walmart. This school charges $10.00 per MINUTE you are late at picking up your student. But when the teachers are late at bringing the kids out where parents wait, its ok for them. Ok for their staff to be late but its never ok for parents to be late at picking up. Once I was on time to pick up but I was told to go around the other side, I ended up 4 minutes late and they were unforgiving even though I told them the story. That was an instant $40.00 revenue to this school for doing nothing. Our older kids went to this school few yrs ago and we were satisfied. But now, this school's performance has gone selfish. We noticed there are fewer kids enrolled this year compared to before. Now we know why that is so. read more

My child attends this school for year 2015-16. Their mission and philosophy is only a marketing strategy. None of them are meant in the heart as evidenced by how they treat my child making her attend detention because we opted for her not to participate in one of their fund raising. Instead of having my child go to detention which she never did any wrong doing but they wanted to punish her, I called in that day and told my child was sick. We spent the day at the library. This school is so much into fund raising left and right. This year I saw their banner at front they only accept grades pre-K to grade 5. What happened to grades 6, 7, 8 you may want to ask. A lot of my co-parents are not re-enrolling their kids but some are stuck in this school because all schools have been full capacity. before you consider this school, ask any parents. I just have to tell you that I had one of the best experiences at this school. Today, I went to talk with my daughters' 3rd grade teacher, to just see how things were going so far and how my daughter was doing. Last year, she had a very tough year with her teacher, and school was not as fun for her. Her teacher this year, told me that she has been praying for my daughter. Do yo know how much that means to a parent, to hear that someone is caring for your child and praying for them?? I am so impressed with how much she truly cares for not only my child but also the whole class. Hats off to Kimber Hills for keeping this teacher around!! I love having my children here. We have our three children at Kimber Hills Academy. We hear of many of care ABOUT kids, but Principal Stephanie Louie and her faculty and staff genuinely care FOR every child who attends KHA. Everyone associated with KHA model "We are hear for the kids, the kids are not here for us." Every class and activity is focused on the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ, teaching the Truth without apology or compromise. The students receive a Christ-centered education as sthey receive a quality academic eduation. Can't think of another school that cares not only for the academic successes of the students but also their spiritual well being. I am learning more and more that education in today's world should be more about the student's character/needs than just meeting an academic standard. Fostering a love for learning is a difficult task - thank you KHA for making this happen for my daughter. Also, my daughter ripped her jacket and the principal sewed it back together - what other school will do that for you? This school does not follow their mission and philisophy posted on their site. I heard school yr 2015-16 is missing one grade level due to lack of enrollees. This is the first place our 2 children came to preschool. What an amazing place this has been! The teachers are fantastic and poured their time, attention and love into our children. We have so many fantastic memories and we would recommend KHA to any parent looking to place their kids in a loving Christian environment. The daily schedule is thoughtfully balanced with Montessori activities, worksheets, and play. The worksheets have been especially helpful in building her number and letter recognition, as well as her logical thinking skills -- all while keeping her excited and engaged. The outdoor playground is spacious, and the kids love their time there. The only suggestion I'd make is to add some shaded areas, as the summer heat can get intense during the 2-hour outdoor window. Our daughter often comes home visibly tired from the sun. Overall, we really love the school and the nurturing environment it provides. Grateful for the foundation it's building for our daughter's learning journey!

From the moment he started at MSF, we saw a remarkable difference. He was genuinely happy each day and looked forward to his "working time" at school. Ms. Angeline has a deep respect for each child as an individual. She nurtured our son's growth both academically and personally, helping him gain confidence in expressing his needs and tailoring projects to match his interests and developmental needs. The environment she created in the Evergreen B class was warm, engaging, and thoughtfully structured. Because of the incredible experience our son had, we decided to enroll our daughter at MSF as well. She joined Ms. June's class and also had a wonderful time. Coming from a full Chinese-speaking environment, the transition to an English-speaking classroom could have been challenging--but Ms. June, being bilingual, provided the perfect support. Our daughter was very shy at first, but Ms. June thoughtfully paired her with older, bilingual classmates and helped her adjust with care and patience. In less than half a year, school became her favorite place to be. We especially appreciated the school's community spirit and special events, such as International Week and Sharing Night, which brought families together and created lasting memories.

He explained why and I said next time dont do that. And then he explained that they were taught as a group, lectured. Like regular school. Not a montessori school. Why would I send my kid to montessori if it was like this? Why pay for this? The emails are also not very professional and lack information. There is a lack of effort as to the reminders of events. There was supposed to be a halloween parade but there was no info as to what time. And upon arriving there, there was no preparation as to the music or what. During zoom parent teacher conference, we did not yet finish our call yet but another parent was already let in to the zoom call, forcing us to wrap up our call. I never see her during the mornings or afternoons. Previous directors would always be there. I feel like there is a misstep here. Appointing a directress who is so inexperienced that it leaves much to be questioned. I hope someone can fix this soon.

I've waited about two months to write this review in order to focus on the facts. When he started there he never hit nor spit nor was aggressive, but after starting there he began exhibiting those behaviors at home. We thought the behaviors would pass, but it wasn't until we pulled him out of Smart Start, had him home a couple of weeks and then started him at Montessori in Newark when he completely stopped the aggressiveness. Also, they blamed these behaviors on my son and threw around words like "spectrum" and "ADHD" very casually in an in person meeting they called after I complained about hearing a teacher yelling at the children during pickup one day. In the meeting they called, I implored them to elaborate on the "spectrum" and "ADHD" diagnoses they threw around and they outright said they don't see the red flags but just mentioned them casually. There were multiple teachers who left and were replaced with new teachers during our three months there. I feel like the newer teachers especially didn't understand early childhood development, and I caught myself explaining to them things that are in normal range for a two - three year old boy. That was disappointing. Pros: Playground was nice. They were pretty organized. They communicated often on Brightwheel and shared photos frequently. They were understanding about our decision to withdraw our son and generously refunded the amount remaining for the month.

When we were looking for schools a year ago, we did check a few others schools, including both church schools and non-church schools with a strong focus on academics. In my opinion, OSLP outperforms all those and is probably the best in this area. 1) OSLP is a relatively small school with great teacher-to-student ratio. In the class my daughter was enrolled in, there were 2 teachers and 12-15 students. Every student gets lots of attention from the teachers. My daughter knows everyone in school and every teacher knows her. Teachers, the principle, and all staff are fantastic. Most of them are very experienced and have been here for years. Every time I stopped by, either during drop-off/pick-up hours or unexpected visits, I found my daughter being so happy and teachers being so engaged with kids. I have NEVER seen any teacher play with her smart phone when with kids. 2) OSLP teaches students core values that provides a strong foundation for their future. Morning class is more curriculum-centric, with letter, calendar, math learning. Afternoon class is more play-centric and kids spent a lot time in the play ground (which is huge!). They have tons of fun class projects. Everyday we brought back a few things Elaine made at school and she loved showing them to us. They also had "secret" projects which were saved for special dates such as Mom/Dad's day and end-of-school-year exhibition. In addition to the academic development and the curiosity in learning, they also taught kids how to interact with others, how to express emotions, how to speak up, how to share with others, and etc., all of which are key social skills.

I would give zero starts if I could…read more We enrolled our infant at Palm Academy, paid the registration fee and security deposit, and our child attended only one day. This is the only place where they charge security deposit along with registration fee before the child starts. Due to a change in personal circumstances, we notified the school immediately that we could not continue and asked for a one-time goodwill exception or partial refund after deducting the one day of care. Ruth refused and relied strictly on the agreement, including the non-refundable deposit and 30-day notice policy. I understand the agreement has those terms, but I was very disappointed by the lack of compassion or flexibility given that our baby attended only one day. Also, during my limited interaction with the teachers, I personally did not get the warm, reassuring feeling I would expect when leaving an infant in daycare. Since my child attended only one day, I cannot speak to long-term classroom care, but my first impression did not make me feel confident to continue my child there. Parents should read the contract very carefully before enrolling. Based on my experience, Palm Academy will keep the full deposit even if your child attends only one day. I would not recommend enrolling unless you are 100% certain you will continue.

In addition to verbally notifying her, I informed the office staff and my child's class teacher. I even deliberately sent emails to her regarding changes concerning my child, providing a 30-day notice. Despite this, she consistently ignored and failed to respond to my emails, displaying a lack of professionalism. When I sought to have a face-to-face discussion with her, she pretended to be busy, abruptly cutting off the conversation and threatening that if I did not comply with her instructions, my child would no longer be welcome at the school the next day. Regardless of my attempts to communicate with her, she pretended not to hear, turning her back to me in a highly disrespectful manner. Individuals who lack integrity, do not understand the importance of respect, show no sense of responsibility, and lack effective communication skills should not be in educational positions. All parents in the Bay Area must be cautious! Ruth is the biggest pitfall in this school!! I will attach the email correspondence between us to provide evidence for all the incidents mentioned above. At the time, I opted for this school due to its lower tuition and proximity to home, despite encountering numerous negative reviews on Yelp. I reminded myself to be cautious when dealing with Ruth and tried to document our interactions through emails. However, even with such caution, she can still act arbitrarily and unreasonably. Within less than two months since my child started school on September 12th, such a terrible incident occurred, leaving me emotionally and physically distressed.
