Echoing what everyone else is saying: if you know the management of your apartment is this company, do not rent. My mother moved in to an upstate apartment managed by this company, only to find that the unit does not have gas. To turn the gas on the building must hire a plumber to do a test before calling Con Edison to restart the gas. It took them NINETEEN days to even schedule the test, during which there was no gas in the apartment. Yet they are not providing any rent abatement, knowing that not providing gas service is a breach of state law. They also threatened eviction right after we tried to claim the partial abatement. Lucky I'm a practicing lawyer who knows the laws well enough. People who live in buildings managed by this company: don't be afraid to stand up for what's yours. Hire a lawyer and sue them until the end of the world. (You don't even need a lawyer to go to the small claim court) read more

They treat you like peasants won't let you finish a sentence and always making you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you live in your apt. Parkoff manages the building next door to mine, and they are disgusting. They do not keep their alleyway clean, it's crawling with rats, and when I call to politely as them to address the problem, they NEVER call back. They could address the problem easily but they don't care. read more

May I state as a 20 yr+ resident in a Parkoff (the Company) managed building I find the staff to be abhorrent, nasty, violent in tone, listening only to respond, not understanding, aggressively anxious, and simply not happy. The Company management has carried a D/54 rating in the bldg for the past 7 years with no sign of improvement. Scaffolding surrounding the bldg was taken down 5 years after the NYC expiration date. To be 'awarded' 1 Star is highly deceitful as they should receive nothing but an investigation. To start perhaps the unlicensed workers they hire by the job, not by the hour, so work is poorly executed in the name of time, and not the matter at hand. Supers seem to last months, not years. Building security is lacking to say the least. Break-ins occur more and more with people sleeping in the rough in the foyer rooms. All on CCTV, no less. In conclusion, since 2019 the building is equal to/less than a NYCHA complex. read more

This is the worst building to live in. The Management Company will make up false stories and accusations against you when they want you to move out. I was falsely accused of playing loud music in the middle of the night while I have evidence proving that I was sleeping during the accused time. I work 10-12 hours a day and I'm typically in bed by 9PM-9:30PM and wake up at 5AM each day. I use a sleeping app that tracks my sleep nightly. The building told me that this has happened on multiple occasions. I asked for the dates. They were only able to provide me with one date. They accused me blasting music on a weeknight at 3:30AM. I have evidence that I was asleep. According to the app, I was in the middle of a deep sleep. Besides, I never listen to music in my apartment. They went ahead and evicted me despite of my evidence proving they were wrong. Their evidence was completely made up. There was no stating my case. They just blew me off and are holding the majority of my security deposit. I was advised to evict the premises on a certain date, of which I followed. There is no paperwork proving any agreement of them withholding my security deposit if I moved by a certain date. Therefore I have been unfairly charged after I had already left. I've read reviews from works and grants saying that this is the worst building to live in. Unrelated but must mention: This is a dog friendly building. If you work as much as I do where you travel to an office building, the Super will not enter your apartment for any type of repairs, since he is afraid of dogs. I now have to take legal action to get the remainder of my security deposit back. 0 stars. (Big middle finger emoji icon.) I hope they get what they deserve. read more

The absolute worst building to be in. The elevator in our building has been out of service for 1 whole month now with no way to access our basement to throw out trash or use the laundry room. The trash is left to pile in the lobby area underneath the staircase and doesn't get cleaned up for days. Tenants has been leaving their shopping carts and strollers on the lobby floor by the elevator as they cannot keep climbing all the stairs of a 6 story walk up with those items. Tenants also have been making 2, sometimes three trips to the market because they cannot carry all of their groceries up and down all those flights of stairs. We have elderly tenants who cannot walk up and down the stairs or are wheelchair bound so they have been cooped up in their apartments for days (perhaps even weeks). Overall this building has drastically declined in service, they have changed over 3 managers in the last two years and tenants don't even get notified or have ways to contact them in the event of an emergency. How does management expect tenants to pay rent? For what? for a deteriorating building infested with RATS and ROACHES? A building that is unkept and becoming unstable? But don't worry folkssss as long as the tulips are planted every other week and the garbage in front of the building is swept every morning, as long as it looks like a good building who gives a crap about the rest of it :) read more

Management is unresponsive and extremely slow to make repairs--if they decide to do them at all. My building suffered from a catastrophic flood three weeks ago, and management still has not made repairs because "the work orders aren't in." There's a new building manager, but he doesn't have a work phone (sounds crazy, right?), so there is no way to get in touch with him. (The super of my building is amazing, but there's only so much she can do when the landlords refuse to sign off on necessary repairs.) Also be aware of your rights: Parkoff Management will lie to you about what you are entitled to as a tenant; they tried to keep my partner off the lease but had no legal standing to do so. read more

I moved out of this companies building less than a year ago. I could only live there for one year because of the infestation of mice, rodents, and various other problems that the building refuses to fix. There is no accountability and they will try everything in their power to get the measly deposit from you. They have a revolving door of employees or "building management". Email addresses are constantly being changed. As a resident, you will never know who to contact because blame gets pushed around this company. My building in Eastchester had a facade was crumbling as well. Residents should cal the town building supervisor to do a code check on their building. read more

I had the misfortune of not listening to my gut, and wasted my time yesterday for what should have been an interview for an administrative position. I arrived 10 minutes early, and filled out their application form. I patiently waited, and noticed 30 minutes had gone by since submitting the application. I asked the receptionist when I would be able to sit with Allison, and she told me that she would see me shortly. I declined a temporary assignment because I really was looking forward to the interview. So not only did they waste my time, I lost out on actually making money! When I went to ask the receptionist again (around 12:30) when I would meet with Allison, she stated she didn't even know why she hadn't met with me yet. Good old Allison didn't even have the decency to tell her why she was delayed. At about 12:45 I asked her for my application back because I had all of my personal information on it. She said she just gave it to Allison. Great, now they have all of personal information! I was seated the whole time less than 10' away, how did I miss this exchange? But then again it seems everyone spent more time using the restroom, watching former President Bush's memorial, and getting lunch, rather than working. Why didn't Allison at least introduce herself, and apologize for her disrespectful delay? I left very upset, and told the receptionist that what occurred was very unprofessional! I surmise all of these one-star ratings are ACCURATE! Parkoff could not care less about anything, but their bottom line. I did overhear her telling certain staff members about angry tenants feeling like they are getting the run around, and threatening legal action. Is it a wonder? Read these reviews! Besides myself I saw not one other black person there. That raised a red flag for me. Perhaps, they were actually working, and not gossiping back and forth. Who knows? According to Google black renters have been denied the opportunity to rent in SEVERAL of their buildings. I am upset that despite all of these red flags I still decided to give them a chance. As you can imagine Allison never reached out to apologize after I left. It is for the best though. I rather work with a company that has integrity, and respects their staff, and their clients. I worked as property manager at The Parkoff Organization and the rule was to never give back security deposits no matter what. The reason why so many people here are complaining of not receiving their deposits is because that is the rule. I left when I couldn't take how much they required us to harass tenants. Literally every time I approached my bosses with a repair needed they would tell me that the price was too high. It got to the point where contractors would only give us proposals at 200% the usual rate because they knew that management would sign it and only pay them half regardless of what they quoted. If you are thinking of moving into a building just know that the deposit is lost and you get what you get. I personally would never live in a Parkoff building unless its the ones in the wealthy manhattan which they take very good care of. read more

Honestly, I wish I would have seen these reviews before moving in. I'm currently trying to get my deposit back after leaving the apartment 3 months early (still paid rent for the entire year). The apartment was huge and recently renovated so it was perfect for a single gal's first apartment but I quickly saw how infested with roaches the building was, no matter how much I cleaned, they kept coming in. MANY time there were roaches on most doors on the 1st floor as well as questionable smells and fruit flies. There were times when I had orange/brown water and sometimes no hot or cold water, and the toilet would either have too much or not enough water pressure and flood. I would then be yelled at by the super as if I was the one who installed the plumbing system. Now, my lease was up in July and I moved out late April/beginning of may. I told the management office about it and at first they kept saying I would have to pay more, so I told them no, I'd already paid off the year in full. They called me an hour later to say I was correct. Then they called again to ask why was I leaving, I was nice and said it was my commute because all I wanted was to be out of there and forget that I once did a 9.5 month bid in the bronx. So I was told I would get my full deposit back because I hadn't painted, done any reconstruction or changes to the apt and truly, I practically didn't live there. I have been after "Tony" to get the rest of my deposit back and he's never in the office or just away from his phone at any time of the day. I cannot repeat myself enough, PLEASE DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

I had to leave my beautiful apartment 1 month before my lease ending due to a massive fire that occurred directly 2 Floors below me . My apartment was covered in smoke, toxic gas ( from what my nest alarm stated) and soot! Everything was damaged. I could not stay there as i have small children , which one is a newborn. I explained this to every single person in Parkoff management including the the small office they have located downstairs in my building. No one seems to really care or be concerned! I didn't ask for free rent! All I asked was for a proration until my lease was up as I was staying with my family at a hotel. Finally, DAVID FREEMAN ( management supervisor) agreed to end my lease early as he also have children and would not had stayed in an Smoke infested apartment as well" with the agreement that I pay the proration and they will send my security deposit to my new address! Well , it's been 3months later and numerous of emails and calls to them and finally I get a text! ( the attachment picture of our conversation) ....so again. Don't rent from these frauds. read more

Do not rent from these guys, they are awful business people and will make your life miserable. For two years I had a water issue in my apartment and in eight different occasions the apartment was filled with water. My kitchen or bathroom were unable to be used and I had expenses they were unwilling to pay me. I moved elsewhere, yes I miss the location but the apartment is flood free! Drama free and parkoff free! Also the super is useless(although they hired a new one, so let's see what's the deal) They have a few rent controlled people living in the buildings, so they raise the rent of other tenants to make up for it. I really dislike these guys. All of the reviews I read are correct. They will squeeze you for any dollar. Stay away! read more

Unfortunately, the reviews on this company are accurate. They tried to scam me by having me renew at a higher rent after a year even though I had a two year lease. I never had controlled water. My shower was either boiling hot or ice cold. When I asked the super about it he told me four buildings shared one boiler and that management wouldn't pay to get another. I finally moved in January and it took 4 months to get my security deposit back, after WEEKS of hounding them. When I finally received it, they deducted $300 to "repaint the apartment". I left the apartment in the exact same paint I received it in so it's a total scam. They have no baseline for decency and will try to keep your money at every turn. The Superintendant and employees at the local office were fine, but the management company itself makes their rentals impossible to recommend. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. If you're trying to rent in NY with this property management, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if you still have a chance. They are completely unprofessional, terrible customer service, and have ridiculous standards on leasing with them. The entire application and leasing process was beyond difficult and stressful, especially as someone who was renting for the first time in NY. I was told I needed to have TWO guarantors on my lease, even after being approved on credit and making 40x the rent. They were both required to make 80x the rent, submit several verified documents and pay an application fee of $100 each! You would think we were applying for a house, not renting an apartment. Such a terrible experience. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't lease with this property management. The organization has no problem reaching out repeatedly when they believe you owe them money, but as soon as it's vice versa, no one is available to answer the phone or answer an email. For example, I moved out over 3 weeks ago and they sent me emails regarding my June's rent. I had to call/email back immediately to remind them that I vacated my apartment at the end of May, therefore I don't owe them anything. I then proceeded to ask about the status of my security deposit, and of course - crickets. I can already tell I'm going to have to call them and email them every day just in hopes of getting it back soon. I lived in my apartment in Inwood for a year, and I am so glad to finally be out of there. My super was extremely nice and helpful, but I would never lease with this organization again. I give Parkoff Management/ R & A East End Assets a five star review as I just heard back from Jessica Hernandez (Leasing) and she reassured me that our lease renewal is "good to go until 2024". I have had a good experience with everyone in the Great Neck office. I have only good things to say about the people they employ here at 30 East End. The building is well maintained, the package room in the front is managed very well, the Super, Laszlo, is wonderful and quite responsive when repairs are needed and porters keep the place in great shape. I have read a few negative reviews, but all I can say is I worked in a real estate office and I know very well how extremely stressful it can be. I didn't last more than about 3 days! Parkoff Management sucks!!!!!!!! Rent is high for the piece of crap my family and I live in. There is always something that needs fixing and when it does get fixed it is never done right the first time. So, of course, they have to redo what was fixed. Can't use the AC that is in the living room and turn on the convection oven in the kitchen at the same time because I will blow a fuse. According to the super, he can not give out fuses because management will not give him any for the tenants so I spent an hour looking for a place that is open and sales the old fuses. I also needed a refrigerator bc the one that I had was not working properly so it took them a week to replace it and of course, what they gave me is a joke. Everything in this building is a joke. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I would also tell people to stay clear of Parkoff Management. They deserve no stars. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. My boyfriend and I moved into a lovely looking building in Inwood, spacious, inexpensive. Great right? In November, we get bedbugs. We go through the chemical treatment. Then all the apartments on my line (G) and next to us (F) in the building get a heat treatment. Months go by. In June, we find a bedbug. Exterminator comes in from a not reputable company (NO REVIEWS OF THEM ANYWAY), can't find bedbugs in apartment, but sees the one in the bag we saved, says we have bedbugs. OK, fine. Recommends a heat treatment. Additionally, says he's been to my building more times than he can count. So that's interesting! Day later, I get information saying we have been approved for a chemical treatment, which makes NO sense if we don't know where the bedbugs are. We call management, they fight back, saying chemical is more efficient. UM, WE DID THAT LAST TIME, IT WAS NOT. HORRIBLE. read more
